Which classic set should be re-imagined for a gift-with-purchase?
Posted by CapnRex101,
While their distribution as promotional items has attracted criticism, 40587 Forest Hideout, 40580 Blacktron Cruiser and 40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua have otherwise seemed extremely popular on the whole.
Of course, there are countless other historic sets which could become appealing promotional products, or even smaller sets available for sale. Many were nominated last week and twelve common suggestions, which I think could be updated similarly to 40587 Forest Hideout and 40580 Blacktron Cruiser, have been chosen for this poll.
Examine the options and vote for your favourite below...
6067 Guarded Inn
- Castle: Lion Knights
- 1986
- 230 pieces
- Notes: While a couple of minifigures and the horse would probably need to be omitted, I think the essential features of the original design could be recreated with modern parts.
6265 Sabre Island
- Pirates
- 1989
- 96 pieces
- Notes: The baseplate would be replaced and three minifigures would likely be reduced to two, but preserving the colours of the Imperial Soldiers' tower would be paramount.
6034 Black Monarch's Ghost
- Castle: Black Knights
- 1990
- 43 pieces
- Notes: This could probably be a faithful reproduction, although including modern doors.
6923 Particle Ioniser
- Space: M:Tron
- 1990
- 203 pieces
- Notes: This model shares similarities with 6894 Invader, so its transition to a modern set would likely resemble 40580 Blacktron Cruiser in style.
6594 Gas Transit
- Town
- 1992
- 124 pieces
- Notes: Preserving the style of the original model would be vital and should be possible because the parts nearly all remain in use today.
6898 Ice-Sat V
- Space: Ice Planet 2002
- 1993
- 135 pieces
- Notes: Trans-neon orange is important to the aesthetic of Ice Planet 2002 and the colour has seemingly been discontinued, although trans-orange might be adequate.
6350 Pizza To Go
- Town
- 1994
- 152 pieces
- Notes: I think 6350 Pizza To Go could be modernised quite easily, maybe even retaining the same number of minifigures because they would probably require no new decorated parts.
6410 Cabana Beach
- Town: Paradisa
- 1994
- 152 pieces
- Notes: This is another example where the baseplate would be omitted, but updating the design for today should not present particular difficulties.
6155 Deep Sea Predator
- Aquazone
- 1995
- 103 pieces
- Notes: I imagine this would be similar in style to 40580 Blacktron Cruiser, recreating the shape of the original vehicle, but with completely different parts.
6755 Sheriff's Lock-Up
- Western
- 1996
- 176 pieces
- Notes: Once again, the baseplate would be omitted and the number of minifigures would be reduced, but the style of the buildings could remain.
5938 Oasis Ambush
- Adventurers
- 1998
- 77 pieces
- Notes: I imagine an updated iteration of 5938 Oasis Ambush could remain close to the original, other than the palm tree.
4940 The Granite Grinder
- Rock Raiders
- 1999
- 109 pieces
- Notes: Several important parts are retired, although I think their shape could be approximated using modern elements.

Is it too greedy if we ask for all of them??
So many great choices, but I chose Guarded Inn for the fact I have so much Castle on display right now, but I want more!
All great, but the guarded inn is still on my wishlist. it would make a nice gift
my vote goes for 6155, don't know is it the best one but it is the one which I wanted as a kid, admiring it in catalogues, but unfortunately never had.
Has trans-neon-orange really been discontinued, or is it just not used much anymore? It’s last usage was in 2021
I didn't vote for it, but I'd like to have a modern version of 6350 Pizza To Go so much that I think I'll just get the pieces and make it myself. Unlike some of these, that should be easy to modernize.
I voted for 6923 Particle Ionizer since I don't have it (came out during first Dark Age), I want it, and I can't easily re-create that myself with modern parts. I'd like to see what they do with it.
I have 6898 and don't think that it's a very good set.
I've gone for 6350 Pizza to Go because I think it would fit in nicely with the current City theme, although it was a close call with a number o others.
A return of LEGO Adventurers in the form of a GWP would be soooo nice :) Just imagine buying a few new Indiana Jones sets this year and getting a GWP featuring the one and only Johnny Thunder!
There's too many GWP sets these days.
So harsh to make me choose between Guarded Inn and Sabre Island….
I voted for: none.
To be honest, I wish Lego would put more effort into their normal sets instead of designing awesome GWPs just to push purchases in their stores.
Each of these sets could be $29,99-39,99 and it would still fly off the shelves. They could make a retro theme but what are they doing instead? Releasing these sets as GWPs and asking for an ever increasing barrier to get those.
I'm not supporting this move.
I refuse to choose… All of them please!
Went for Oasis ambush, as the Adventurers were the sets I grew up with, wish I could have picked more than one though! :)
Anyone who didn't vote for Black Monarch's Ghost is wrong.
6929 should have been one of the options.... It is the coolest looking ship from the Classic Space theme, despite being of the early sets (1981). It aged like fine wine and looks better than many designs that came after it.
That said, picked 6923. Wouldn't mind if 6898 was the winner.
My gut says it’ll be another older theme like Pirates or Town. But since they’ve already done Bioncile, there’s hope for Aquanauts to be also cemented as part of the “classic LEGO Themes canon.”
Where is the Hypno Cruiser?
I don't see it on the list.
Imagine combing through the comments on the previous similar article looking for actual information. Well done.
Hard to choose among a bunch of great sets!
The premise of the question is wrong. These sets should be re-imagined all together, and not as part of some greedy jacked up treshold GWP scheme.
A subline called 'Vintage' or 'Retro' would give King Midas a run for its money and it would introduce new children and adults to clever and timeless designs.
Or how about 4514: Cargo Crane, or some NBA related, now that LeBron James has the ultimate score record in the history of NBA.
I won't say no to more space and castle, but I really hope Lego shows some love for their other classic themes. My pick is the 6155 Deep Sea Predator
The question shouldn't be which "should be re-imagined" but which "most likely to be re-imagined";
Should? All of them :)
Most likely? I think "6350 Pizza To Go".
- They just did space, so they won't do it again so soon.
- They had the huge castle and the re-did 6067 few years ago, so won't do that.
- The underwater ones? Maybe, but they're not that sought after (easy to see from their used price and availability. I see 6155 many times on FB marketplace.
-Paradisia is not well knows, it'll just look like "Friends" today.
- 6594 Gas Transit was re-made on City already (3180)
The only realistic options (I think) are "Sabre Island" and "Pizza To Go", and the "Pizza To Go" one is much easier to produce. and can be part of a modern city layout/play area.
Lots of nostalgia here. Own 3 of these from my kid LEGO years.
Voted 6265 Sabre Island - feels similar to 40587 Forest Hideout, a small location dedicated to one group within the larger theme. Would also be nice to get some modern Imperial Soldiers to balance out the updated pirates we got in 21322 Barracuda Bay and 31109 Pirate Ship.
Brickset team - are you running these polls just because you’ve seen the interest in the Classic themed GWPs? Or have you actually heard that there may be more coming?
I chose Pizza-to-Go because of the LEGO Island games nostalgia. If this happens by chance (the odds are near impossible), it better come with Mama and Papa Brickolini and Pepper Roni... with maybe the Brickster or The Infomaniac being nice too.
This is wishful thinking but I would love a rerelease of the Lego PC Rock Raiders game more than the GWP!
In so far as I'm concerned, only four of the sets in the pole qualify as "classic" sets. The rest aren't in the LEGOLAND range. In fact, quite a few of the sets fall into Lego's dark years and aren't popular enough to qualify for reproduction. I voted for Guarded Inn because the omission of baseplates is not an option as it heavily takes away from the original set.
So hard to choose!!! The late ‘80s - early ‘90s wave of LEGO was something else! Despite the simplicity of the builds back then (ironically one of the things we often complain about in the 2010s and up releases), the sets from those years always managed to offer something new and unique to the whole building experience.

Just for fun, although I would not be at all surprised if more are released in the future. They seem to have proven pretty successful thus far.
Regarding trans-neon green(yellow?) and orange: If they swapped those out for tamer colors I would not be interested at all. They are a big part of those themes.
I voted for Sheriff's Lock Up because it would be a chance for LEGO to make a Western set without making a full-on Western theme, which they seem unwilling to do.
The set I want most to see reimagined is Guarded Inn, but I didn't vote for it because it would be incredibly frustrating to see such a great set be restricted to being a GWP.
What a brutal choice to have to make! I ended up going with Sabre Island because I want something to go along with PoBB. Could really enjoy a good Particle Ioniser too, or a Ghost, or even Guarded Inn even though I have my own MOC version of it built right now.
That Guarded Inn is tight, but I can't do my Aquazone Aquasharks bad like that and not vote for them. Aquasharks, tied with Aquanauts, is my top top top theme.

Maybe an Octan milk tanker?
Granite Grinder! I think GWPs like this should represent a genuine cross-section of themes and periods of LEGO's history, so doing a Rock Raiders, Aquazone, Western or Paradisa set seems like a solid choice to me.

:-) Or perhaps more realistically: an Octan hydrogen tanker.
I own the original Pizza to Go but would love an updated version
I voted for Guarded Inn but I'd be happy with Sabre Island or Sheriff's Lock-Up. It's a shame there was no Classic Space (1979-86) included as that would have received my vote. Blacktron isn't my era, much as I liked that GWP.
@ResIpsaLoquitur:
Can’t vote for Castle. The last time I threw a pity vote their way, it backfired.
@sanderkoenen:
Exactly.
Cabana, I had this as a child and as I was only allowed ‘girlie’ ones this was very special to me as there wasn’t many girlie ones!

This, and I'll not get off the soapbox for this - GWPs are predatory, and the more of them Lego puts out, the more it exacerbates the problem.
I would kill for a modern iteration of the Legends line of products.
But having a $100-200 barrier for each and every set, that adds up really fast, even when you do have disposable income.
I don't care if they're shop online/Store exclusives - I'd rather be able to just buy them than have to resort to the secondary market where prices can be volatile or have to shell out an exorbitant amount of money on other products I don't want just to either flip them or stow them in a closet.
If these 12 sets were $30 apiece, that'd be $360, which isn't unreasonable.
But if you had to spend $100 for each as a GWP, you're looking at *$1,200*.
And that's being generous with the threshold, Lego could easily ask for $150 or $200 - that's $1,800 to $2,400. That's a LOT of money.

A 1000% yes! Right on DBMartin.
Let’s hope 5938 Oasis Ambush makes it.
I'm torn between the Ice Sat and the Black Monarch. I think I'd vote for Ice Sat. If it had to be a GWP I'd probably pay out for that, but I'd rather Black Monarch be a polybag
Na man, we gotta remake 4463 Light.
I am still voting no to walling all of these behind GWPs when they can obviously become normal retail products.
I voted for 5398 Oasis Ambush, mostly because I would love to have a modern version of an Adventurers set, since I never got any original sets. This is also still a very visible theme since every Legoland park has a section and a dark shooting ride based on it. To that end, it might almost make sense to have an Icons Adventurer set as well, but that could be too much of a conflict with Indiana Jones. I know that 10273 had numerous tributes to Adventurers, but it was not an actual Adventurers set.
I would prefer for the tribute set to have a vehicle since the Adventurers cars are so iconic to the theme, but I am not sure if the parts are still being made. I can always Bricklink one like Scorpion Tracker.

It wouldn't be free, haha
Very tough choice, but 6265 Sabre Island got my vote, since it was a great set that I missed. Realistically, a number of the other themes in the list would sadly be unlikely to be considered nowadays.
I'll go with Western as I missed out on them & they'd be something a bit different. ?? Adventurers was a close second but the new indy sets coming soon would tide me over... ??
Voted for 5938 Oasis Ambush because I think the Adventurers series deserves a callout. My second choice would be 6265 Sabre Island--the Pirates need a proper opponent! Castle and the various forms of Classic Space already have, IMHO, enough representation at the moment.
I'm not going to get involved in the discussion about whether GWP are predatory because there are enough high-value sets on my *"really want"* list to earn a GWP any time one is provided. (The new Rivendell set will have to wait for double points, though!)
Have a surprising number of these! Pizza to Go would make a great update with a fresh take and modern pieces, and seems ideally sized for a GWP.
Pizza To Go is an undisputed masterpiece. So good it's ALREADY been rereleased once!
Wishing I could vote for multiple options. I still have the Deep Sea Predator, and would LOVE to see that updated. But the Granite Grinder is a close second, still the set I most feel I missed out on at the time.
6755 sheriff’s lockup gets my vote!
Hard to pick one but MTron all the way. Cabana beach a close second. I played with that more than my sister who it belonged to.
Too many good sets. Picked 6155 simply because Aquazone needs more love. (I always thought of them as an offshoot of Space.)
Lucky to own: sabre island, the black monarch’s ghost and Deep sea predator, but voted for M-tron since I only own the smallest set.
Ice planet comes second on my list.
Gotta love Space!
While I’m a fan of all of them, I would love to see the tanker. Octan has been in over 30 themes and over 200 sets so it would be a great general GWP. If it is somehow made into a GWP , I’d buy any set(s) just to get the GWP.
I was never a great fan of the red and trans-neon green combination. My M:Tron sets are recoloured in Classic style, so my 6923 is a tasteful combination of grey and trans-green, rather like 6891.
If any of those were ever offered as GWPs they'd be weeks I would avoid buying any Lego (except maybe The Granite Grinder to use as a start for The Mole!)
A few GWPs of proper classics would be great though.
I'm hoping none of these get released as "gift with purchase" but most of them get re-released as normal sets one can buy, not hope that we get it as side effect of buying some expensive large set.
Last time I wanted a GWP it was Blacktron and was surprised I didn't get it - when I got back wondering what happened they then simply said they ran out. Not much of an apology either. I hate this sort of shady business practice (only allowing getting a product based on purchase of another product) and I'm kind of hoping EU will put an end to it, effectively making them put a price tag on it and sell it to whoever wants to buy it.
I voted here for the Inn as it would make sense - I disagree with the comment there though that says "While a couple of minifigures and the horse would probably need to be omitted." I know they omitted horses from the current mainstream castle set but can't see a single reason why. Care to elaborate? Especially now that they have the upgraded version with movable legs, it just doesn't make sense that the horse is currently only in 2 sets of last year, one of them being that huge castle for 500 Euros.
Most of these are just a bit too new for me to have memories of, so the two that stand out to me are the oldest ones. And considering I liked pirates more than knights, Sabre Island it is for me.
From the newer ones (many of which I had never even seen before), I'd say Sheriff's Lock-Up looks the most interesting.
That said, I could think of a ton of other sets I would rather see. I guess I'm just old ;-)
Next one has to be some kind of pirates or western... Leaning more rowards pirates.
I voted Sabre Island of course! (However, the Guarded Inn would be a very fun re-release as well.)
Vote for Sabre Island. When noticed it last time I build virtually a new one for rebrickable - just for fun
Agh! Too many good ones! The nostalgiiiiaaaa. Went with Guarded Inn. Never had it and would go well with the other Castle reboot. I also used to love Castle as a kid.
I'd rather 5958 if we were going to see a set from that theme, if only because I already have the nominated set and if I was going to get it I would rather the re-imagining be of something I don't already own... but even so, I had to vote Adventurers. And Oasis Ambush is a super nostalgic one for me, so would be neat to see again even so.
That said, Rock Raiders is an extreeeeemely close second for me because I love that theme so much, and probably would have taken my vote had it been the Chrome Crusher instead of the Granite Grinder.
Some of the others are cool, but not anything that I'd buy personally.
5938 was my vote. But I would love either 6755 or 4940.
I’d be happy with any of them. Except Deep Sea Predator and Granite Grinder
That is a rough poll! I have a bunch of these growing up and I still can't decide. I just have a feeling about Sabre Island and went with that. However, M-Tron needs a full scale rerelease.
ICE-SAT V simply because I didn't have the original and love Ice Planet 2002. I had the originals of Granite Grinder, Pizza-to-go, Particle Ionizer Deep Sea Predator, Gas Transit, and Oasis Ambush, so I'd like to see updates of those, too. (Particularly to see how they did Deep Sea Predator's arms.)
LegoBoi69: But, Octan, they make such great stuff! Music, dairy products, TV shows, surveillance systems, all history books, voting machines... Wait a minute!

I almost nominated 6929, but thought it would be too big for a GWP even though it is within the piece limit.
I voted 6350 Pizza to Go as it is the only nominee which I owned. Most any classic Town, Space (pre-factions), Pirates, or Castle set would be welcome as a re-imagined GWP.

Transparent Neon Orange has been retired. Transparent Neon Green will also be retired after the end of this year, so maybe we’ll get a space set using the latter as a GWP.

Wow! How about none of the above? These are all terrible choices. Every theme has better options to choose from. If any of these were made would I get them? Maybe Saber Island or the Guarded Inn, maybe. The rest seems unlikely.

Pre-Minifigure at least!
I know voting for Particle Ionizer is ridiculous since Space has already been well represented by these reimagined sets.
But I love space!

I don't think it would be too big. I have both 6894 and 6929 and their sizes are similar. However, I did made a remake of 6929 in the style of the 10497, it would be even better than a 350 parts set.

Space is my favourite theme by far but none of the space-related sets appealed at all. Nothing from Classic Space in the poll.

I see. Well that seems highly unlikely ever to occur. I grew up in those days but accept sets from that era are simply too crude by even 80s standards, let alone now.
Too many to choose from. Although I was a massive Pirates and M:Tron fan, but I've always been a space guy so I had to pick Particle Ioniser.
Where's 3220 My Dad?
@ThatBionicleGuy:
Pearl Light Grey Crusher? Or Flat Silver Crusher. Maybe Metallic Silver Crusher, if you’re lucky.
@TomKazutara:
In all fairness to Town…you got City already. Pirates also got Barracuda Bay, and a Creator 3-in-1 recently, so maybe one of the other three you suggested would be a better choice. Then again, they don’t seem to recognize that any themes outside of Town/Space/Castle/Pirates ever existed, at times.
@Doctor_Hugh:
He wants a 2x4 brick, with a picture of an old man shaking his fist and yelling at you to “Use your imagination, dammit!”
Is there any situation where space helicopter is not the objectively correct answer?
It’s really a three-way tossup between M-Tron (the Particle Ionizer was one of my favorite sets of all time), anything Ice Planet 2002 (the mini figures were my favorite) and anything Aquazone (probably my second favorite theme behind the Space themes). Ultimately I went for 6155 Deep Sea Predator because I’d love to see the Aquazone sets be resurrected and it was a set I really adored.
This was a tough choice. I have Black Monarch's Ghost & Sheriff's Lock-up so don't need either although reimagined versions could be interesting. I was torn between choosing Guarded Inn or Sabre Island and went with Guarded Inn. Would love to get several of the other options also.
It’s got to be 6594. I don’t care that there’s a more modern version in the form of 3180, or that petrol tankers are unfashionable subject matter (there are still plenty of them in service on any country’s roads) it’s a solid gold, nailed-on classic. Just look at it! Those green parts made such an impression back in 1992.
If they could bring back trans-neon-orange I would vote for Ice Planet but if they can't I would support the Western set.
While I consider all of those very iconic, Sherrif Lockup would be something unique that currently does not exist on the LEGO market , and Western would likely not get any regular sets otherwise.
I think a 3-in-1 version of Guarded inn or Sabre Island would do the themes more justice, with more parts.
@legoapprentice said:

Or have you actually heard that there may be more coming?"
I second that, thought the same. Imperial soldiers, please, LEGO.
Guarded Inn was close, but Pizza to Go is one of the cutest town sets out there, it was difficult to pass up!
This is a really, really difficult choice. And for the record, I wasn't even born when the overwhelming majority of these sets were around, yet I still love all of them and I'm not alone. Indeed I think people and The Lego Group need to understand it's not JUST nostalgic AFOLs who want sets like these.
Many of you know I am adamantly against GWPs so I won't dwell on that here. What I will say is that even if GWPs continue to exist, I absolutely agree with others that these should be sold as regular sets. Indeed, putting the GWP debate to the side, I really don't understand Lego's problem with selling cheaper 18+ Classic remake sets? They can still make the huge, overpriced sets as well, nor do they need to make an entire theme per say, but by making cheap throwbacks such as the ideas listed here, soooo many more customers will be able to buy them, including children.
As for the choice.
Guarded Inn, Sabre Island, Pizza to Go, Sheriff's Lockup, Oasis Ambush all of these I'd love. Eventually I chose Sheriff's Lockup because it is so unlikely we will see any more Western themes. I really want some updated Imperial soldiers (although ideally we will eventually get a nice big Imperial fort, or a new flagship for them). Indeed I think it would be a shame limiting the Imperials to a tiny tower GWP.
Guarded Inn would be a great set. I LOVE Adventurers, but aside from a new Sam Sinister Oasis Ambush wouldn't offer that much. As someone else said, I'd rather them do a lovely vintage car (or maybe a set like Secret Sphinx Surprise) that is more of a playset because Adventurers was all about the traps and the story.
Pizza to Go is a lovely little set, although we have had various pizzerias over the years. Town is an interesting one for Classic throwbacks, I think it really depends on the specific set whereas Lego could bring back 'Castle' 'Pirates' or 'Space' generally and people are happy. Airport Monorail would naturally be the first choice for a larger remake Town set. Pizza to Go is a nice little set but it doesn't really offer anything as special or interesting as some of the other choices.
They came after any of these but besides Bionicle and Star Wars, I loved the Exo-Force and Power Miners themes as a kid. If I had to choose one to come back in one way or another from either of those I'd go with 7700 Stealth Hunter or 8960 Thunder Driller.

Couldn't agree more, 6929 is my favorite classic space ship, would be great as a GWP or reimagined at 1.5x scale like 10497. Voted for 6923 as well.

6265 would be very easy to do. In fact, I just went to Stud.I.O. and put one together to see how feasible it would be. It is built on a 16x16 plate and I built the white, yellow, green 'plate scenery' with different layers of plates. I was able to build the whole thing with existing parts (yellow brick parts are now tan) and it came at 140 parts excluding the minifigs and the boat (currently the only boat available is white). The flag is also not available in white (available in black). I believe my new version is better as there is more greeneries and some rocks and the layers of plates also makes for a more realistic terrain. Took me an hour to do it (and I had to search all the parts - to make sure they were available) a Lego designer would make very short work of this task.
As for the selection proposed, I also like the M-Tron 6923 , Ice-Planet 6898 and Aquazone 6155 .
Disappointed there's no "None" option, especially given how it had lots of support. Ended up voting for 5938 Oasis Ambush (in order to see the results, which then didn't even display?!), since it's a nice tribute to the Adventurers theme but not something I'd be really annoyed for missing out on.
That's one problem with the GWPs, they've became so large that getting it or missing out can significantly alter the value-for-money of the overall order. Earlier it was mostly a nice minifig or a $5 Creator polybag at a $50 spending limit, and not such a big deal. But when we starts talking $30-40-50 GWPs they becomes a major factor in the equation, and when it feels like a lottery if you get it or not we starts bordering gambling/lootbox territory.
Another issue with GWPs is how you're really supposed to get only one, which is annoying for any set with army building potential - I bet a lot of people wanted a large fleet of the Blacktron ship, but had to settle with one or two.
A slightly different form of "army builder" I'd like to see more of would be what I'd call a "unit pack" (for lack of a better word), like the Guarded Inn set - containing a large selection of castle parts but just one or two of each. So you could buy one and build the inn as shown, buy two and build for instance a guard tower or a gatehouse (using pictures in the printed instructions and full downloadable ones), or buy four or six to build a more substantial castle. That way you could get a lot of building options out of a single moderately-sized set - at least as long as it isn't a GWP.
A major gripe with GWPs is just that it makes buying lego a seriously stressful affair, comparable to getting airline tickets at the advertised price - you have to buy the right stuff at the right time (hoping neither that nor the GWP is sold out), remember to check VIP rewards, make sure to read all the small print, and generally jump a ton of hoops (in addition to staying up-to-date on the latest leaks, gossip and rumours). Given how Lego loves to talk about it being "mindful" and "relaxing", buying it really shouldn't be this difficult.
@axeleng, You've summed up the problem well.
@HOBBES:
Truthfully, a LEGO designer wouldn’t care if one or two elements weren’t currently available, as long as this was not the case with very many elements, and all the part designs were still in production. Even for GWPs, they have to be able to sneak at least one element into the lineup.
@axeleng:
The flip side of that is that there are a lot more $100+ sets these days. Getting a $5 polybag as your only GWP with an $850 AT-AT isn’t going to sit well with many people, since you only get _one_ per order, and you probably already got a few copies with previous orders.
My answer to your poll is: YES.

What about an OCTAN voting machine?
Random question, why are some sets tagged as Octan? Like the new A-Frame Cabin 21338 or the AT-AT 75313 ? Makes no sense, and leaves me very confused.
I'm surprised that people want to see 6265 Sabre Island. It's one of my least favourite sets from the 1989 Pirates lineup.

Octan is the Lego oil business run by Lord Business (As per the Lego movie). More seriously, to answer the question, the Octan 'brand' is characterised by the colour white, red, green and white (or the red and green yin-yang sign). In the A-Frame Cabin 21338 (step 128), there is a gas tank in the back which has the 'Octan' colours. The same is true inside the engine room of the AT-AT 75313 (step 658 and 673 of book 3).
There was no Futuron so I voted for Guarded Inn. If that set doesn't win by a landslide then I am truly out of touch with the AFOL community! :-)
None of them! They should all be remade and put on shelves like regular sets! They wouldn't even take up that much space! Like, what, a typewriter, a globe, and a Titanics worth? Or just replace all the Harry Potter sets with these!
I wish there were more pirates sets
Based on the "none" comments, a lot of people clearly do not understand why LEGO does GWP set promotions. I wonder what the proposed alternative would be for LEGO to coerce people into buying directly from them (excluding sales), as opposed to other retailers or other online marketplaces, especially considering that VIP points obviously aren't enough?
I'd like to know what people think a reasonable and equatable alternative would be... I'm sure that too would probably be "none," but only because they probably haven't put much thought into it.
As for my own vote, I went with 6265 Sabre Island, although 6034 Black Monarch's Ghost or 6898 Ice-Sat V would be neat as well!
I would love to see either of the Space sets, but in fairness, I think it's the Town fans' turn. I voted 6350. But after -that-, Ice Planet or M:Tron. Or both! And while we're at it, give 6980 the 10497 treatment.
I voted for 6034 "Black Monarch's Ghost", I want to see what will they do with the ghost.
Wow wasn't expecting a vote option

I must say I like that idea a lot.

Fair point, though I wonder if GWP is the way.
I never ordered anything from Lego. For a few simple reasons:
- Usually more expensive than other retailers. Why but at RRP when stuff is discounted all the time?
- Shipping: no free shipping for smaller orders, standard shipping rather slow and "fast" shipping very expensive. Meanwhile Amazon, Bol.com or others do next day delivery for free.
- As for brick-and-mortar shops, for every Lego store there are hundreds if not thousands of other retailers. Odds are one of those is closer.
- And whenever I look for some Lego exclusive set, more often than not it's out of stock...
If they want people to buy from them directly, maybe they should consider improving the general shopping experience first, instead of compensating with freebies.

I do feel that is quite an exaggeration. GWPs rarely sell out online before the promotion ends, and sets are not as frequently out of stock as they were only a year ago. Checking VIP rewards is not a requirement of receiving GWPs, but something else may be of interest so worth a look, but far from a hardship to check one screen. The only part of the small print anyone needs to check is the themes the GWPs is available with, although this is often mentioned in the large print as well. If you are referring to the "only one per household" this has never been enforced with any of my orders. So not a "hoop" in sight, let alone "tons". As you already use Brickset, which is very active in updating on leaks and rumours, it is no hardship to be aware of everything happening regarding sets and GWPs for the coming weeks, if not months. It really isn't difficult at all, except for those who have little or no interest in LEGO.

D2C is always a valid option. Has it's own problems, but at least isn't predatory, like GWP. Also Lego really should rethink how they sell their stuff, because even with better pricing, the onsite buying experience is absolute garbage
Pizza to go because... Pizza.
But I'm definitely in the 'fed up with GWPs and their high price barrier to ownership' camp. Maybe @CapnRex101 could run a poll to see what a wider slice of Bricksetters think about the issue?
Seriously? No 918?
Guarded Inn & Sabre Island in a dead-heat, closely followed by Ice-Saturn V!
You can’t go wrong with any of those 3!
@twodoors said:

Well, 10497 had alternative instructions for modern versions of 918 and 924 so essentially it has already been done. That was certainly the main reason I didn't even nominate those original sets.
I voted for Pizza to Go, although I feel like the Black Monarchs Ghost is the perfect size for a typical GWP

What is wrong with buying from the LEGO website? The packaging and customer service is certainly far better than Amazon or Zavvi.
Nominated and voted for Pizza to Go. It should be a Town or Pirates set, There's already been a Castle and Space set.
Close or sometimes even link to my grey castle, how many hours, and hours of play thanks to the guarded Inn! Such a playful set. I still have it complete, except for the little sign flag, which has one of its clamp broken. Even if it could probably be improved nowadays, I guess it still a valuable and good play set just as it is.
If the leaked images of the new castle village set are real, I don't see the Guarded Inn being a GWP because it looks like there is something similar in that set already.
I don't see the Pizzareia being one either due to the new modular building.
I think all of the others would be good possibilities though (minus the gas truck, for reasons others have already mentioned).
Oasis Ambush but, I want: Rock Raiders Drill and Deed Seas Predator need a full set. I would welcome a line of Classic sets with these on it.
As much as I would love to see Sabre Island (and the imperials return as a whole), Lego hasn't made Western sets since 2013, and I doubt they would outside of a promo. Plus, the Sherrif's Arrest looks like it would be packed with more play features.

I agree. I loved the nexo knights colorrs because they just seemed so satisfactory. 4600 was the only good part of jack stone because of the neon orange police light. I can just imagine a serpent made of neon green and yellow and orange.

I know they omitted horses from the current mainstream castle set but can't see a single reason why. Care to elaborate? Especially now that they have the upgraded version with movable legs, it just doesn't make sense that the horse is currently only in 2 sets of last year, one of them being that huge castle for 500 Euros."
I was thinking about the same - I assume that including a horse in a GWP is not a cost that LEGO would be willing to absorb.

Anything is possible with a high enough minimum purchase threshold.
But for what it's worth, I found horses on a PAB wall once ...
@Doctor_Hugh:
Before they raised the average spend, highly desired GWPs did regularly sell out, often early during the promotional period. May 4th GWPs would regularly sell out within the first day. 5002126 Martian Manhunter and the 32074 AT-DP polybag both sold out within hours. Even as recently as 40448 Vintage Car sold out by the middle of the second day of the promo. Raising the thresholds has tempered demand significantly, which has allowed some promos to outlast their advertised dates. Or, if not that, to at least not sell out until the last few days.
I don't think that "predatory" means what you think it means....
None of the above..
They should do something new..
I miss Technic, Fabuland, Trains and Duplo in that list. If it’s nostalgia that we talk about, these themes should have one set to choose from as well.
Missed opportunity
For me Castle or mid/late 80s early 90s Space themes for sure, those are what I had the most of as a child so the nostalgia factor is strong there. I have 6923 so I'd love to have that as a remade GWP (or just remade in general) so I can see the differences between the builds.
Guarded inn for me, but I thing it is a set that stays in the parameters for a GWP but it is not really suitable for a promo set.
What a pity no Space Police I set in the list.
I would love to see some indian set such as 6748 (but I suppose the large baseplate makes it not suitable).

Shipping is way more expensive, takes longer and is fulfilled by a worse carrier than the standard one here. Also the site is pretty broken, doesn't display promotions at the checkout page correctly and the checkout process isn't as smooth, as it could be.
Pizza to Go, Oasis Ambush, or Granite Grinder.
Pizza to Go has the opportunity to be woven into a Lego Island tribute by making it the Brickolini pizzeria, Oasis Ambush brings forth a proper new Thunderverse set beyond his one-off modern minifig appearances, and the Granite Grinder is one of the more iconic Rock Raiders sets that could be made quite interesting through modernization.
Sheriff's Lock-Up would be interesting since Lego hasn't done a western theme that isn't licensed in forever, and even the licensed ones are a decade old, but I'm unsure about its odds given the overall reevaluation of the fantasy of the American "Wild West" making it go largely out of fashion.
Overall though I'd prefer if these were D2C sets.
Easy! 6067 should be made a GWP! And, after that, the next ones should be 6265, 6350 and 6755.
I chose Ice-Sat V as it is within ‘Space’ theme, while being more distinctive from the Ionizer in contrast to the recent Blacktron re-release. I stopped buying LEGO Space, as a child, around 1982. This set seems like a throwback to some of the late 70s / early 80s sets I collected and I would love to have it, in my combined (childhood & AFOL) collection.
As others point out, I also do not hope, rerelases of classic sets will come as GWPs. The thresholds are quite high - and for the time being, I often think the GWPs are more interesting than the sets available for sale now.
Other than that, I would go for something not castle or space, as these themes had the last great GWPs, so I had to choose from the other great sets, primarily town or pirates. And I went with the latter one - 6265 Sabre Island.
I would like almost all of them but forcing me to decide I think Sabre Island is the most crucial as of now. I would also like more Castle themed sets and then some Megatrons. The classic city sets are also good.
It's something with how these sets were photographed that makes them look so much better than todays sets, even though there were less parts and less colours back then.
Why cant we see the results of poll right after voting?
There all great and would gladly have any of them as a GWP, but its gotta be the Guarded Inn for sure, Iconic Castle Set that was so popular that it was re-released for a 2nd time back in the day as a Legends set...
@DoonsterBuildsLego said:
"I've gone for 6350 Pizza to Go because I think it would fit in nicely with the current City theme, although it was a close call with a number o others."
Same... It was that or a toss up between Guarded Inn.....both had that retro appeal of simplicity and effectiveness for sure!!
So hard to choose! Truly, any of these would be good candidates. I tend to lean toward Space, then Castle and City. I do also have a soft spot for Aquasharks, as it is a theme/set that is representative of the first cracks in my Dark Age. The retirement of trans-neon orange as LEGO transitions in earnest to regular trans-orange might make 6898 and 6155 controversial choices. The same goes for 6923 as it relates to the trans-neon green to trans-bright green transition. But, as a long-time LEGO fan, one grows accustomed to change, so...I'd rather have modernized versions of those sets than not, even if it means working with a color palette that has changed since the originals.
Out of these I'd pick either the Western set (which I own) or the Pirates set, because we already had one from Space and Castle. But I would like most of these, I just don't see how a Rock Raiders set would be listed among those other sets but maybe that's just me.
That reminds me by the way, I believe I have a 6898 MISB somewhere...
I think the topic itself should be revived.
Not to give as a gift with an expensive purchase. :(
Not a fan if GWP's in general,
so I would say none as GWP's. but maybe most of them as small sets available in Lego shops?
Or
Just offer VIP's Triple, Quad or Qunituplet points,
or Discounts of £5, £10, £15 or £20.
Seems like discounts would be more appropriate than GWP during this "Cost of Living Crisis" period in time.
Sherrif's Lock up, it Has sOME Really Unique Characters in The Set
I'm really missing the all button...
Castle, Space, Pirates, Aquazone, etc... these are all great themes and great sets. As with many of us, a resurrection of the themes would be the most preferable.
I voted for Ice-Sat V as I have many of the sets I want from the list (including Ice-Sat V) and I'm most interested in how they would recreate it. It would require some creativity with many pieces out of use.
I agree with the sentiment that LEGO could just release all of these sets (even if in the Icons theme) and (based solely on my own purchasing habits), I would think they'd make as much or more money from the available at retail approach as they might by releasing these as GWP. The "drum up FOMO to milk your customer base" will only work for so long before it starts to erode any goodwill you have with that customer base (again, based mostly on my own bias as a customer).

40566 I spot a bias. ;)
I would like ALL of these.
So...I'm adding another option: "All of the above".
