40586 Moving Truck revealed!
Posted by TheBrickPal,
An image of 40586 Moving Truck has been added to the Building Instructions section of LEGO.com. This unusual set includes two minifigures, and features a moving truck with some pieces of furniture to transport.
We do not yet know how this will be acquired, although it is rumored to be a gift-with-purchase and, like 40582 4x4 Off-Road Ambulance Rescue, searching the set number on LEGO.com brings up the promotions page. We'll let you know when we find out more.
What do you think? Let us know in the comments below, and view box images after the break...

Okay, now this I don’t want to be a GWP. It’s so cool! Why make it a limited release? As opposed to the off-road ambulance, this would actually add something to the lineup (plenty of €20 emergency vehicles already, this is a completely new subject). It’s almost too cool for a City set! Luckily I’ve not bought much recently so I may be able to get my hands on one.
Where did this come from?!? This is fantastic. A perfect fit with the modular buildings. I must have it!
(As opposed to the off road ambulance. They can keep that!)
I like it.
Isn't it weird that they're now doing pianos with two 1x2 tiles instead of the existing 1x4 tile?
Beautiful retro vibe truck. We are actually moving to a new home next month, so I guess I will need this Truck!!!
Minifig 1 - "Do you know the piano's on my foot?"
Minifig 2 - "No... you hum it, I'll play it!"

I like this set. Hope I can get it reasonably
I really like the modernised Cargo logo in tan and sand green! Great build for the truck too. Looks like a fun set!
Looks like a great little build, love the retro style of the truck. Pity it looks like a 1 seater & it should be a standard set not just a GWP. Just my two cents. :)
This is great indeed! Okay, the stickers look as terrible as ever, but that's all I could complain about. But very different from everything else they're making, and it looks wonderful. Would be a shame if this again was a GWP.
I love that truck and piano is fantastic.
The retro look of the truck fits with so many of the modulars.
Really good. Looking forward to getting this. Definitely much better than the previously rumoured pizza truck.
Nice that it's delivering to the Jazz Club.

Shame there's nothing to hold the candles.
Looks good. Can't say I'd be tempted enough to make a special purchase to get it as a GWP, though.

Boy! That white sticker looks like crap!
Lego Graphic Design: "White is hard. Grey is impossible. One thin coat of paint on a minifig is all you get. We used to say, 'only the best is good enough.' Now, we say, 'the cheap and crappy is all you get.'"
Lego's No. 1! Yay!
GWP whingers... cut and paste buttons at the ready!
This is an Icons set. It has the art of the Boutique Hotel and Jazz Club. It was rumored to be a Pizza Truck. But absolutely a GWP
TIL the hand truck piece isn't in production anymore (2495)
not sure if it helps, but if you just type in 40586 into the Instructions search bar, it comes up with this name
40586 Moving Truck
tbd-GWP-07-Lighthouse-Ext-ICONS
let's hope it's just a temporary name and it's available on other items than just the Lighthouse because it's totally impractical to transfer a jukebox by rowing boat to that little island :D
I’m glad this is a GWP. They should always be interesting sets to actually incentivise a purchase, not a set they can’t get rid of any other way. The better the set the more likely people are to make multiple purchases, which is the whole point of a GWP.
Let's hope the truck has a tail lift, otherwise they're going to struggle getting that piano in.
I think that looks more like a Hammond organ than a piano.

If they want people to buy stuff at their site, they should do more attractive pricing or better D2C sets like this one. (D2C isn't without problems, but at least it isn't super predatory and still makes relatively small batches work).
The things they actually try to achieve with this scheme are:
1. Making sets, that sell horribly due to dumb business decisions, leave their warehouses faster. (They also do this with brick and mortar stores, by requiring them to purchase a certain amount of a specific bad selling set, so Lego doesn't have to deal with it themselves)
2. Space out sales evenly to please investors. Investors like consistent profits and not huge profit spikes in certain parts of the year. (This is why subscriptions services and other anti consumer strategies are so common right now)

I reckon they could do both- “available to purchase for $X, or get it for free if you spend $Y.”
The main problem I have with GWP sets is half the time either I’ve already bought everything on my current wish list, or the things I want either don’t qualify for the GWP or are out of stock. Having it available to purchase separately would make it a lot easier in those situations, while simultaneously offering it as a GWP means it could be an incentive for people to pull the trigger on larger purchases they’d been holding out on. Everyone wins!
Really love the design of that front-grille (and the truck as a whole). Would fit perfect with the modulars - but as a GWP? No...

Never seen it. Or Clarkson or May's for that matter...
I was so distracted by the vintage truck front I've only just noticed it has actual doors on the cab!

It's simultaneously modernised and de-modernised, I love it. Also I hope the sack barrow piece isn't out of print, I love that part.
Apparently GWP with purchases of £150 or £160 starting on Feb 21st.
Based on - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yy8pWxUyCI
I’m not sure how I am going to get this as my budget is too low to buy enough to get a GWP. I’d totally buy it if it were for sale though. Looks like a $30 set.
I think it’s a perfect match for the Brownstone in 10218 Pet Shop, which has boxes and is being painted for a movie-in day feel.
I love that mud century modern dresser and the antique logo on the truck.

It was last used in 2020, under a different design number 31496 https://brickset.com/parts/design-31496
Still haven't bought this years modular yet... but this looks more interesting as GWP with it than a pizza truck.. Same as last years taxi with the hotel, a piano delivery goes well with a jazz club.. ( same way 404480 would had paired well with the diner.. just came 3 years to late..)

LEGO doesn't have investors, does it...?

Those three are have always been a bunch of organs.
Nice GWP but what would be really nice is that if the GWPs complements the new modular release they would dovetail - but I am sure Lego has it reasons and marketing for the gap. Having had a look at the instructions it includes a crate explicitly addressed to the Jazz club. Great too to see the piano and vanity table - I have the Jazz club now, so may pick this up later, on BrickLink. I don't have last year's taxi though which would have gone well with the hotel.

Yesn't. Lego isn't publicly traded, but there is a 25% stake of the Lego foundation in the company, that has investors backing it iirc. Not 100% sure about this!
Point still stands about this strategy absolutely being employed by companies tho.

Well I know a woman who works for a removal company here in London. And no, she doesn’t just make the tea, she’s got an HGV1 license.
BTW, ever heard of Joan of Arc?
I like the piano, Though that looks like a small house moving truck!
Truck is a little ugly and old fashioned …. But the concept itself, and the minifig scale furniture, is very cool!
For the piano they really need to hire a van with a tailgate lift, but most of us have only realized that mistake on moving day.
Saxophone pic and piano. Jazz Club GWP surely
Truck's retro style fits very well to Winter Village.
Thoughts go to the classic Laurel and Hardy piano movers from The Music Box.
so does this mean no pizza truck?

A 6-wide works perfectly against all the 4-wide cars in my city, so I'm a fan! Plus the reworked cargo logo matches the plane I have. Someday I'll find the cargo center for it all to come and go from. Here's hoping it's a GWP when I can buy something, or becomes available with VIP points as a regular bonus.
The only thing more awful than the potentiality of this set being yet another a GWP are the comments here.

I wonder if that's to allow for easier making of 6-wide pianos, or 8, or however crazy you want to get.

Don't you mean 'downdate'?
Looks terrific! But the whole 'GWP' angle for more and more sets is getting annoying. For those of us on a dedicated budget the GWP is not something that's easily acquired.
The internet was originally meant to be a beacon of information, fun, and truth... not bigotry, lies, and hatred. Can't it be that again?
I'll answer that: apparently not! This is why we (as a society) can't have nice things.
Anyway: cool GWP. I'll be sure to reverse engineer it for myself.
Damn, I wish Lego would do more sets like this for regular purchase, and not just as GWP. That looks stunning!
Moving furniture and boxes isn't exactly a weight lifting competition, it's more about not being an idiot and damaging the stuff, the walls, yourself... sure some things are heavy, but most really aren't. I wouldn't want pumped up Arnold moving my stuff and then terminating a wall because he's a moron AI Overlord tool stuck in a humanoid form that doesn't care about things like paint and plaster.

I can only hope the same goes for poor, doomed stubble-guy."
Is it too early for comment of the year voting to start? Cause I nominate this. I absolutely love this take. Thanks for saving this thread!!
Well I'm probably skipping double VIP points because the creator castle was magically out of stock again in time for that. So hopefully it's back in-time for this GWP.
Asking for a favor: just hold out on the backordered A-Frame folks! That's my ticket to get this!
Any further comments about the genders of the minifigures will be deleted. I cannot fathom why something so innocuous must become a point of contention.
I held off buying the 10312 Jazz Club so I could get this GWP. Then they threw double VIP points out there. So, I bought the Jazz Club today. Guess I will take VIP point over any GWP. Did get the 40582 as a consolation.
A 1980 Idea Book throwback ... modernized.

Sometimes I inexplicably forget what a wordsmith you are and then you put out another gem like that.
I apologise for my part in fueling this conversation.
Going forward I will remain silent, just report and stick to the topic matter at hand.
Hope this is a nice little bonus when I have to spend $500 on a certain set in the near future.
I just built the moving truck (minus the furniture) digitally in Studio, and it is estimating a little under $30 for the pieces. I will build this when I get home as I have 97% of the pieces. It's cool how they fit all of the furniture and art into the back of the truck though. I may just have to build them too sometime down the road.
Lovely GWP. Yes, I hate the stickers, but the design is great and it complements any modular setup.
Cool set, I love the piano build

They had to dust off the old dot matrix for these stickers
I pointed out that minifig doesn't suit in my opinion to this set and my comment was deleted. Seriously? I can not give my opinion (without any hate or anything negative)?
Admins want to make community smaller where few folks say "love it!"?
Good minifigs can totally change mind of ppl about either is worth buying or not.
Looks really nice. I’ll sadly miss this GWP if it doesn’t line up with Rivendell availability.

I downloaded the instructions and it has a loading ramp that is stored under the rear floor.

I'm all for keeping this community civil and free of toxicity. But censorship of comments that don't fit whatever narrative you want isn't going to help.
Please don't lock this to a theme/set, LEGO. They unlocked 40582 after my order last night. and I was sad to find that out.

Fair enough, but why did you also delete my joke about Richard Hammond?
I didn't comment about any gender, did I?
This (and x2 VIP point offers) are why I NEVER rush out to buy any Lego set on Day 1. I can wait. Worst case, they'll be around for months...but most are around for years. I intentionally haven't rushed to buy the Jazz Club or Lighthouse because I knew there'd be some GWP coming up with some $150-$200 threshold. By holding off, I can get the set I was going to get anyway with a special bonus.
...so people complaining about GWP thresholds should probably learn patience.

Exactly. Buying on day of release almost never makes sense. In rare instances where there is a set specific GWP, such as Luke's Lightsabre for the UCS AT-AT, ordering early has advantages but again it's based on a GWP. I have three sets over the £200 threshold waiting for the right combination of VIP event and GWP, with at least two more coming this year. At the rate LEGO are releasing large, expensive sets I'll always have a set ready for the right promotions.

Chuckle Brothers vs Bernard Cribbins... no contest!
Of course all this furniture should have been in the jazz club already, but i think this is a great solution. Every modular comes with a moving truck. First you listen to what the fans say that they are missing and then you just put them in a moving truck as gwp. Problem solved! Genious!
Also: doors
I am in the camp that both this and the Ambulance should be regular sets.
Perfect for my 50s British village diorama with a steam engine railway. I will seek this out.
This set is the case, when you can write long, dumb, showing off comments when one word is enough. Awesome! That's all. Congrat TLG. You guys, still able to surprise us.
Hoping the Jazz Club is eligible for this. Had been holding out for the initially rumoured ‘pizza delivery van’ GWP but I think I like this moving van concept more.

I was hoping for a pizza van, but this will do. The design is nice (aside from horrible stickies). I do wonder at the story, though. Did the Jazz Club not pay the rent? That miving can lady's face indicates a troublesome event is underway.

No doubt! She's about to drop some bad news (and perhaps a piano) at the Jazz Club. A sad smile or terror are definitely unpleasant alternatives.
This looks like a fantastic little set.
And when the removals are done it's the perfect shape for converting into a portaloo!
A shame it's a GWP, but it's a really cool little set and something I'd love to own.

Doh, shame. I wish this was just a normal set for normal people! Looks so great and unlike some overused vehicle themes, it's almost a novelty!
I mean.. at least if it were as GWP now with double VIP points, might consider buying that Boutique Hotel I'm keeping off for "when convenient"..
Not a 20€ city set?
What a pity, I liked it very much.
Here in the Lego Store in Chile they are already selling it as if it were any other set, for approximately US$44.
