Moving Truck now available at LEGO.com
Posted by Huw,
40586 Moving Truck is the gift with purchase (GWP) at LEGO.com from today until March 3rd, free with purchases exceeding €180/£160/$180.
It's the perfect companion to 10312 Jazz Club so if you've not yet bought this year's modular building, now would be a good time to do so.

What really annoys me; threshold is €180. Most sets are like €179.99. At the Lego Store they don’t fall over the 1 cent. Online it is always an issue. I was now forced to order a Brickheadz because my A-Frame Cabin was €179.99.

United States store does seem to handle this, i.e. $179.99 alone does add the GWP.

Yeah, same here, but now I see you're in The Netherlands as well... Sometimes the 1 cent is no problem, maybe they're messing with the settings from time to time (I bought the cheapest thing there was, Extra Dots for 2.79).
What ever happened to those much fairer €80 GWP thresholds? I can understand inflation, but come on!
This article should be aired yesterday evening at the latest. And @Lego …, Threshold at 2200 NOK?! There’s much to buy but THAT high threshold just make you look (even) more greedy then necessary.

Yes, I was also surprised. This GWP is a good combination with the Jazz Club. A pity that many (me included) had already bought it at relese date in January. I guess it will be less expensive to buy the Moving Truck on bricklink...

Same exactly.

Thanks but no thanks…
Finally time to buy the Jazz Club modular. I feel like Lego meters GWP like this out enough that I can plan for the ones I want. The biggest help for my collecting has been the PayPal pay in 4 option. One day I will run out of space for Lego, but not this day!
No, thank you for the offer. I will prefer discounted Jazz Club without this GWP in a few months/years than for full price with GWP included.
I'm going to wait until 1 March to order 21338 (and a Dots pack, I guess), so that I can also get 40606, rumoured to start as a €/$50 GWP on that day. I could miss out on this one, but I don't think that demand is extremely high, especially with such a high threshold.
The GWP is related to the Jazz Club (due to Jukebox, piano, jazzy painting), Lego refuse to release these GWP when they launch the sets (which is bad), but consequently people shouldn't be buying those sets without any GWP, as this happens every year.

You are talking about conscious consuming, on a Lego forum. How dare you?
As much as I love LEGO, and I don't usually complain about their selling strategies, I don't find this fair towards their clients. I will buy it at Bricklink, or simply pass. The set is a beauty, but I can't spend that amount with each GWP that I like.
Looking forward to downloading the instructions and designing a recolour in Studio, likely one with a green back rather than white so I can make use of those older green panels with the other delivery logo.
The suddenly very popular combination of an A-Frame Cabin and a Dots pack duly ordered!
(Actually both the sale £2.44 dots packs ordered.... sod the expense!)

Hi! On the lid of the box there is a "?TO? JAZZ CLUB" writing, so you are very right! :)

I didn't take that chance...
Bought the A-Frame Cabin and literally 4 bricks from PAB (to complete a mock), so just pushed the threshold by a couple of pounds. But I agree with everyone else; This should have been made available on 1st Jan, as an incentive to purchase the Jazz Club upon release (as they used to do many years ago).

Don't they charge you separate shipping on PAB nowadays?

Yes, it was something like £2.50, but I needed the bricks anyway, so I figured it was a small price to pay for this GWP.

I don't know about this year, since they've overhauled the PAB system, but last year I was surpised to get 40532 with a large PAB order, even though they're not supposed to count towards GWPs. Sometimes what Lego says and what the website does don't match very well!
Ha ha ha ha! :D
I’ve got increasing amounts of barely used pieces snapping on me, absolutely no way!

The Jazz Club is going to be available for a couple of years. Those that need to have it first on the release date will miss out on later promotions. Those that are happy to wait for it get an extra free set. It happens every year. You get to choose between being first or getting more for your money."
I agree - this is the first year I didn't order the Modular on 1 January - last year I did this with the hotel and subsequently missed out on the vintage taxi - I thought this would be cheap and easy to either pick up or Bricklink but it was neither - it ended up costing me about £25! Jazz club is now ordered with the GWP included...

Well, you can buy a brick separator or a CMF
There was an online store that I used to buy that I could add €0.1 because of that
Another GWP I'll pass on. In Canada the threshold is CAD $245, are you kidding me? Thanks but no thanks.

Dang it! I am running out of room. I am so tired of crappy Lego Customer Service. But, this is a cool GWP, and it's a lower threshold than the vintage taxi last year and twice the number of figs and pieces...
Your motivational speech is urging me onward. Maybe you're right. Today's not the day to falter and break the bonds of plastic addiction fellowship with my AFOL brethren! Let's go! Let's charge the Black Gate!!!... I mean, buy more Lego.
Right now there is nothing i would want for 180€. Why not make it a set?!? I do not get it. It is a darn beautiful moving truck and i think its the first Lego has done so far.
This set adds so nicely to any city layout. I bet many more people would buy it if it was a normal set. Maybe i´ll get a copy on the secondary market if it´s not too expensive..
€25 gift for €180 purchase. Okay LEGO.

Because you would buy it as a set for 30€. In that case you have to spend a sht tons of money to get the truck, even if you don’t need those sets but you want the gift.
The thing is, Lego just went crazy with the thresholds in the last couple of years.

It isn't clear but assuming you are being sarcastic and actually saying this isn't okay, the gift is valued at 14% of the spend, which is better than double VIP points for value. So hopefully you are genuinely saying this is okay.
Tiny truck with great big stickers... good try lego but you aren't getting my money. Just like last month when you didn't get me to buy your weak jazz club modular that is overpriced by 50$. My kids and I have had a lot of fun with lego, but I'm no zealot. The prices and declining quality made it easy to quit buying new sets and just build our own stuff. This recent gwp extortion trend is laughable.
Honestly, I kind of wanted this set and would have paid up to $40 USD for it, but because it's a GWP with a threshold of $180 I won't be getting it.
Interestingly, this promo in my country (Malaysia) runs until March 15th.
Good GWP to get with Rivendell.

In Canada the threshold is inordinately high at $245 (wonder what it is in Australia) so the percentage falls to 12% but still above the double VIP points.
My issue with GWP is not so much the threshold, (high set value commands higher threshold which is fair). What bugs me the most is the frequency. We are only at the end of the second month of the year and we already had 3 GWPs and one double VIP points - it's next to impossible (at least for me) to order twice per month for a couple of hundred dollars/euros/pounds/etc...
I hope this will still be available on March 1st when there are actual sets I want to order.

I'm curious what quality issues you have been seeing. My biggest disappointment has been the inconsistent color of the bricks. Home Alone house was RIFE with mismatched color tones, luckily a lot of it hidden inside the house, but still...latest offense is the UCS A-Wing I started building, The red pieces are not matched and the front/top of the ship looks bad. Not sure what can be done except place a fresh order for ALL of the pieces on the top of the ship!
I was able to muster up $100 last week to get the GWP but then another one so soon with a much higher threshold is a lot of them to ask.
Can you imagine if Lego was NOT a private company, and they were beholden to shareholders, how they would be even greedier than they are becoming now? They are raking in huge profits these days, no need to fleece their hardcore fans in such a way.

It wasn't available yesterday evening so it would have been wrong. There has already been another article announcing it was coming to help people plan their purchases.
https://brickset.com/article/90859/40586-moving-truck-revealed!"
I ordered it last night!
I assume the reasoning is that in order to get all these GWPs you'll have to sell your house and move to a cheaper one, though you'll also need it to be big enough that you have enough space for all the sets you had to buy. A delicate balancing act to be sure, but at least you already have the moving truck so that's one thing you don't have to worry about.
I was afraid too many people might partner the Jazz Club with this GWP, so I ordered it last week with the Double VIP promo and the City GWP. I was able to use the $25 Rewards on the A-Frame last night and secured the Moving Van. It is more than I wanted to spend in a short period but I’m not planning on buying any upcoming sets until later this Spring. I think it worked out pretty well.
Thanks, but I have spent enough on LEGO for now.

I sent LEGO a message about this and they say that the US store takes into consideration that VAT/sales tax will be added to the amounts listed on the website, taking the order total over $180, whereas the amounts in Europe already include VAT. That is why the treshold is triggered at $179.99. Not sure if that is the real reason, because I seem to remember (not 100% sure though) GWPs being added to my shopping cart even if the order amount fell one cent short.

Interesting! And it kind of makes sense. Although, as a bit of a tangent, I was once told by a LEGO store employee that the $0.01 difference doesn't matter for in-house themes, but when a GWP is tied to a licensed theme, one needs to hit the actual threshold (and not be a penny short).
The truck kinda sorta reminds me of the moving truck seen in the opening credits of early episodes of "The Jeffersons" for some reason.
Can't remember who recently suggested this but I think an either/or for GWP would be great. As in, get GWP for free with spends over X threshold, or buy the GWP for Z price. And if LEGO wanted to keep the incentive to get the GWP free by spending more, they could price the GWP a tad over what it would normally go for. I don't mean that I myself think that's how they should price it if they went this way (and it would lead to a lot of (reasonable) complaints if they did), but I could see it being a part of their strategy to maintain the incentive for customers to spend more for the "free" GWP
I bought the 21338 A-frame and 60356 bear stuntz bike to meet the threshold. So, I didn't experience whether the A-frame on its own would have met the threshold. Others have said it did, and I believe it, just didn't do that myself. Wanted that stuntz bike enough to pay full price! I don't really buy those sets but I really like the bikes

Yes I have seen many miscolored pieces. Our christmas village sets have all kinds of connection points that broke off. (Reddish brown known to be brittle.) Unnecessary amounts of stickers, minifigures with poor paint application. Heck even the 1x1 cheese slope pieces crack frequently in half just from being put onto studs. Only the mediocre is good enough now, apparently.
Was waiting to purchase the modular police station with this promo but it immediately sold out. I'm pretty frustrated, I either now have to purchase something I don't want or miss out entirely
Edit: not sure why my location is showing US, Im in Australia. Peculiar
Interestingly, the Moving Truck page on lego.com has a listed price: $24.99 in the US, £21.99 in the UK. Both sites just say "Gift with purchase" rather than an add to cart button, but that raises the question of whether it might be available separately in the future.

Good luck with that but in 2021 the Gwp 40448 vintage car sold out in 3 days of a17 day promotion period.
I think Lego is doing a fantastic job with the GWP in 2023. I know that the spend thresholds can be high but I've got every GWP so far this year except the Bionicle one.
I have only one 2022 set on my Want List and this will be the soonest I've ever completed my Want List for any one year.
Many, many Lego sets don't appeal to me and I think many are bad deals. But Lego has definitely dialed in the GWP appeal, though.

Almost all GWP listings give an MSRP but never get sold separately.

I think in 2021 they were largely pandemic related regional shortages... I ended up getting 5 over the period of a couple of weeks!

I agree with you.
But I want to say too that the VIP points, a 5% discount, is enormously ridiculous. Even thought when double VIP points apply, a 10% discount. They should double that offer: 10% always and 20% in special lapses. This tunes better with the other retailers' offers, which often are higher.
So it is not a merit of the first, but rather a demerit of the second. And that the company is too stingy.

because, if you return your purchase WITHOUT the GWP, LEGO will refund you with (for example) 180$ minus the value of this set...
Wow... Ordered yesterday, arriving tomorrow. It's a long time since I've had a 2 day Lego delivery!

Yep, and also, the Jazz Club will cost 50 less euros in a year - that's what I'm waiting for.
If this is meant to be an attachment with the jazz club then it should have been released same day as jazz club. Guess will pick up via fb market as nothing else I want.
Picked up the gap ambo for £15 all in that way which I felt was a mighty fine deal.

Nah, what annoys me is the fact that its 2 days before I can purchase the Rivendell set and now I wont get this set after spending $800 bucks. feels like a bit of a slap tbh :(
Picked this up with a purchase of the Jazz Club today. Almost waited for double VIP but I liked the Moving Van set more than the points.
