$16 Microfighter! Ooph. At least its an accessible way to get the improved helmet it appears...

Gravatar
By in United States,

What color is the windscreen of the snub fighter? I can't tell.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

That N-1 in this scale almost looks like the Razor Crest's similarly scaled version

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am looking forward to these! Can’t ever get enough spaceships. And it’s good to see that new canopy piece in a different color.

EDIT: I didn’t notice the price on the Mandalorian Microfighter. That is absurd!!! I realize those minifigs are getting expensive, but that’s ridiculous. $12 would be more acceptable, but even then you’re pushing it.

Microfighters should be ten bucks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looking at the Pirate Snub Fighter I feel as if it's overpriced considering the size of the set and the Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter Microfighter just looks kind of stubby to me. Although getting a Din Djarin and Grogu for $16 isn't bad.

Gravatar
By in United States,

$16 for a microfighter?? That’ll have to go on sale before I even consider it.

Trans Brown.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Definitely looks like a new colour for that windscreen. Trans sand blue incoming?

Gravatar
By in United States,

$16 for a microfighter is absurd. Even the "cheap" LEGOs are expensive.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

In the nineties in Spain they cost 500 pesetas, which in exchange for euros were €3... it is very noticeable that they do not look after the consumer.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Snub Fighter Pilot, what an excellent minifigure, I love the color and the prints

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m more curious about the Mandalorian Fang fighter vs Tie Interceptor set. I can’t see how either ship can be done justice at $100 for both together in one bundle. I’ve been quite eager to see what they come up with here.

By in Brazil,

Lego's objective now is to sell less but profit more with these prices, you know, they are saying "we're a luxury brand now". They are clearly aiming for the rich people only. There's no longer explanations from war, pandemic, inflation or any other thing, the prices are increasing every year now. "But Lego was always expensive!!!" Dude, this is a whole new level. Never I would have imagined a Microfighter for $16 (R$160 for me, which is a LOT worse than for anyone here). It is a better deal to buy vintage sets now. Yikes.

Hard pass on the Stub Fighter, £13 for a Micro-fighter is pushing it a bit I want that improved Mando helmet...

I think it’s more the Disney tax. That company is struggling for $$$ these days. Prices on LEGO’s other products are more in line with inflation. Except that Creator motorcycle. That’s pretty outrageous.

Yeah those price jumps on marvel mechs and microfighter were much much higher compared to other sets (Both Disney).

I mean, an in-house theme set like 71781 : Lloyd's Mech Battle EVO is still at €20, while a set like 76242 : Thanos Mech Armor is €15, formerly 76141 : Thanos Mech for €10

I realise that those figures and things like a full infinity gem gauntlet are in demand in such a small set, especially AFOL collectors, but it's still massive price increases compared to similar recent products.

Gravatar
By in Japan,

Both sets look decent enough, but are ridiculously overpriced. £3/4 more for a new microfighter is just ridiculous, even if the figures are desirable ones.

I'm pretty sure that Grogu costs a lot more than 10 cents per piece... Printed head, printed and dual-molded body...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I realize the designer was likely working from preliminary renders/sketches, but the proportions of the pirate fighter aren't very faithful to its onscreen appearance. It's too long and too narrow, probably by about four studs in each direction at this scale.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Even with the new helmet and Grogu, inflation, “Disney tax” , etc that microfighter is overpriced! I could see justifying $12, but $16 is ridiculous!

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

I still need to get the Mando N-1 set as well other sets based on SW, this May 4th will be expensive.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll get the Microfighter, but doggone.

I'm still astonished that we haven't gotten a Mando with a Pedro Pascal head underneath. Literally, a Pedro head is available.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Easy pass on both of these. For those wanting the new Mando fig from the Microfighter. That figure will be in every Mando set going forward so no reason to buy the Microfighter just for the fig.

Disney’s not struggling for cash, they pulled in $23
Billion in Q4 2022 which was higher than Wall Street expectations. They lost millions of Disney+ subscribers, but almost entirely in India because they lost a license to show cricket matches.

STAR WARS is just an expensive license and always has been. LEGO price creep basically STARTED with Star Wars and City because these have been top-selling lines for 2 decades now (longer in the case of City).

So, I mean, I guess you’re right - Star Wars is getting a “tax” because of the license and who holds it. But Lego isn’t likely doing this at the behest of The Mouse - it’s just Lego realizing they can probably get away with selling these sets at a premium and people will continue to buy them just because of basic demand.

They have given him a flesh head. It's in the N-1 starfighter from last year.

75325 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don’t know why but prefer the N1 Microfighter to the mini fig scale version, It may even fit in the ucs Razorcrest as a combat bod of sorts. And the snub fighter is a cool classic space parts pack.

Gravatar

Whatever the colour, it's going to be milky and definitely not as transparent as shown in the image.
The way LEGO is going about hiding their new milky material from customers until after the purchase is bordering on false advertising.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Grogu stealing someones credits (wallet) jk

Gravatar
By in United States,

Microfighters we're just about the only Star Wars sets I was interested in -- at $10 apiece. Sure, inflation has been about 27% since the line started at that price point. An increase would not be unexpected, but a 60% increase is absurd.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Pirate Vane has a sword and a thermal detonator. That sounds like a bar brawl I don't want to be anywhere near!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Even with a new helmet piece, $16 is obscene for a microfighter. That's a 60% price increase between 75344 and 75363

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yawning… Don’t like or need either! I do recognize, however, that Mando’s starfighter is good for kids to get D&G for under $20 if they do not already have them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nothing amazing. Lego has a nasty habit of making sets based off the most boring possible ships from upcoming shows, wouldn't be surprised if the snub fighter only comes up in the show 2 or 3 more times.

Gravatar
By in United States,

While I’m a bit disappointed that the pilot minifig has the same head as Vane (it would have been great to get the Trandoshan or Klatooinian featured in the episode), it’s still a great looking set.

At that price, though, I’ll definitely have to wait for a sale.

There are still cheaper sets with fairly "normal" prices, not all children grow up with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Disney, altho LEGO's products even DUPLO make it seem so.

Of course, still best to judge it on a per-set basis, as even in some regions, there are massive price differences between like Euro and US Dollar on Non-licensed themes like City, 60345 : Farmers Market Van was $45, but €30, or 60342 : The Shark Attack Stunt Challenge $35 vs €20.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Both sets look terrific but the MSRP on the Microfighter is a bad joke. No way they can justify a 60% price increase on that set. NO.WAY. That's a gouge, pure and simple.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

The Snub Fighter resembles in its shape to 75087 Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter. It looks good, but it lacks the "iconic effect". Let's see its role in the series.

By in United Kingdom,

Great to see a new Star Wars ship designs in Lego aimed for the younger audience. The prices start high as assumed Amazon, Argos, Symths etc. will discount in due course.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Have to agree, I see zero reason for that micro fighter to be more than $10-$12 tops. You’d have to get it 20% off just to make it “kind of overpriced.” I’m sure it’s some kind of market test from LEGO to see if we will pay them prices.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Neither of these sets look good to me, and both seem overpriced. I was expecting microfighters to go up in price since I don't think they ever have, but $16 is quite the jump. I might pick it up if I find it on a steep discount. I already have Mando except for his helmet, and I luckily don't have Grogu yet.

Using an inflation calculation (https://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/related/inflation-calculator/) on the Canada price. These started at 12.99 in 2014 and this one being 19.99. According to the calculator if you ente 12.99 in 2014 your get 16.24 in 2023...so almost $4 adjusted for inflation. So yeah prices its bad

Gravatar
By in United States,

$16 microfighter sets can eat yellow snow.

That's a 60% increase.

Lego revenue is more than double in the last five years and still climbed year over year during the pandemic. Lego leadership is getting out of hand, taking a page from Apple that "we're luxury so we can charge more."

Lego is a superior quality than Mega and other building sets, but this is ridiculous.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder who will be the first to build that ship with a yellow windscreen and some blue trim. Or a yellow windscreen and a black body. Or do that and then change the back end a little bit and stick it on the front of 40580.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm interested in the pirate fighter. Let's expand the galaxy with new ships!

It would have been cool to at least get the Klatooinian pilot instead for variety, and they could have easily worn the helmet considering what Lego has done before with that species.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Snub Fighter is really good, but overpriced. The microfighter is also good. But the best part is that they've applied the new, extra helmet printing to Beskar Armor Mando. That helps a lot.

Check your math. $9.99 to $15.99 is a 60% increase (if rounded to a tenth of a percent.)

Gravatar

I really like the snub fighter, the storage space in the back is a nice feature. The microfighter is probably the worst one we've ever got but the figure is nice.

Also, throwing the price of a microfighter into an inflation calculator the price would've gone up to $13 since their debut in 2014, so I don't think $16 is TOO absurd, considering the price has stayed consistent for the past 9 years.

The license is on a multi-year contract. They can’t just knock on the door and say, “We’re broke, and would like you to pay us more money.” That sort of thing has to wait until the contract is up for renegotiation.

@WemWem:
Has D- actually started turning a profit for once? Last I heard, they were spending so much money on “must watch” content that they were outspending their subscription intake. And TLG was raking in money hand over fist 20 years ago, but still posted two large losses. Part of that was selling sets where a single component cost them more than they were charging for the whole set. Or, as one of my former bosses liked to joke, “We’re losing $0.02 on every unit, but we’ll make it up on volume.”

@ryanaitch:

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the look of both, and was about to say that the pirate fighter looked good, but maybe a little small for the price (even if the PPP is technically close enough). Then I saw the price for the 'micro'fighter, and, yeah. Getting Grogu seemed like a nice inclusion, but clearly that's supposed to soften the blow of that price hike.

Thing is, these microfighters were introduced to be the pocket money star wars toys, something to sit alongside the small city and friends sets. But now, like the Marvel mechs, the budget option has blown past the mark of what could be considered a cheap set, and now there is a vacuum again.

By in Australia,

I don't enjoy the Snub Fighter being more than $50 AUD. Pardon my argument here but it actually IS a plain gray Star Wars ship.

The two minifigures included look really good imo (though the heads are reused, and should have at least had two expressions) but I wish there was a third one included to justify the price.

I haven't finished the premiere episode yet, but I think the proportions on the Snub Fighter look off.

$23 AUD for a microfighter is horrible, but I do see some useful pieces and the new Mando figure looks nice (still haven't got his jetpack, thankfully I skipped the Razor Crest microfighter) so on discount I will pick it up.

As far as I know, this was only stated in regards to the universal colors. https://news.lugnet.com/lego/?n=2605
However, even then, was there any heads up on the retirement of 208 Light Stone Grey when Olive Green replaced it in 2012?

Fun fact, 111 was going to be replaced way back in 2011 alongside the change to silver and gunmetal! This was actually communicated ahead of time, but of course, never ended up happening.
https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/35009-changes-in-colours/
(That intended replacement may or may not have been color 327, which is also a trans-black from around 2010-2012, though that is thus far unconfirmed and speculation.)

Transparent Brown (and it's opal variant) is still listed as being on the palette through 2024, but seeing how things went with neon orange and are going with neon green, probably won't be used next year in more than a couple straggler sets if at all.

The N-1 Microfighter? Yeah its Mando with a new helmet... I believe if LEGO really wanted to follow The Simpsons joke it would be Malibu Stacey with a new hat... but I will wait for that figure to show up in a more appealing set. Not worth it just for one single piece.

Built any Mega (or other) recently? I doubt it, because then your statement wouldn't make sense.
LEGO's quality is far from what it used to be.

Anyone who has experienced what is possible in terms of print quality (or even sticker quality) as well as colour matching elsewhere can attest to that fact. Let alone in terms of value for money. But as long as most people only think "Lepin" or "Best Lock" when they hear "alternatives" they won't know what they're missing.

People do realize that the only way to combat the price creep is to not buy, right? They will continue pushing the prices until people stop buying.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@WOLKsite:
I don't think their promise was meant to include basic retirement of a color, but when Color A is specifically replaced with Color A.1. I'd consider replacing what we call trans-black with what they call trans-black as just that. They may not. Alternately, the fact that the community knows which colors are retiring may be all they need to do to keep their promise. Remember, the 2004 color changes happened with zero warning, and it wasn't until people were building sets or sorting parts into their collections that anyone noticed something was off.

As for the end date for old trans-black, that may be intended to accommodate the retirement of several sets that use that color. If it gets down to one or two sets, they'll probably just color-swap them, like they did with the first UCS ISD in 2004.

@Ridgeheart:
Oh, no, I absolutely spoke out. I wrote an article about it on MaskofDestiny, and I still think dark-bley pairs badly with almost every color in the LEGO palette, because even most of the cool range has warm undertones.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Since I'll probably never get 75325 (too expensive for my tastes), I'll have to get 75363. Even if I were planning to get the full-size one, I'd probably get the Microfighter; yes, it's still more expensive than I'd like, but $16 is a lot easier to swallow than $60, and I love that they included a spot for Grogu.

Yeah, but Star Wars didn't exist until 1977, so "missing out on Star Wars before 1977" doesn't really make sense.

This is the way! $$$$

I thought the pirate fighters had red markings? I might be wrong, maybe there were some that didn’t- the scene moved by quite fast. Great minifigs though! As for the microfighter, looks kind of odd. I know there’s only so much you can do at that scale, but it just feels weirdly proportioned- even for a microfighter.

75363 seems a lot bigger than many other microfighters, plus it has a second minifigure (a very small one, but still a second one!) so I'm not joining in the outcry against its price. I'm a lot more annoyed about the US pricing of 60342, which is the only Stunt Challenge set that interests me, but really can't justify such a high PPP. That can't be blamed on a Disney tax, either! I realize that cross-currency price differences used to mostly favor the dollar, but I don't remember such small sets having such uneven prices pre-pandemic. (Europeans and Australians who have clearer memories are welcome to set me straight on this point, of course!)

I've changed my opinion from earlier. THIS IS ABSURD! THIS MUST BE CHANGED! WE MUST PUT A STOP TO THIS IMMEDIATELY! DOWN WITH COMMUNISM!

the snub fighter looks great I will be getting it. when i first saw the microfighter my thought was no because of how bulky it looked. but then my brain did a u-turn when I saw the helmet. I will be picking both of these up at some point.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nope. That’s not worth $16. This is disgusting.

The Snub Fighter needs a at least one more recognizable character to round it out (maybe Vane will be a bigger name, don’t know yet…), but the price isn’t too appalling…

Still, finding myself drifting farther away from LEGO Star Wars with each new wave…

By in New Zealand,

Finally! Things aren't so bad here! $20 to $26 only equates to a 30% increase in the NZ price of Microfighters. And considering the current one can be gotten for $16 at one of the local stores, maybe I 'll still be able to find this one for $20.
But yeah, that $2 a piece price jump is a bit crazy. Comparable to a CMF, but they come with a stand and accessories.

I got the bathtub bike. And then put naked Ernie in it. It's a bit surreal how popular it is at displays.

D'oh!

I should have noticed that. After all, that's the year I was born, and I have often made it a point in the past that my favorite Star Wars movie (as well as my favorite James Bond movie) is of the same vintage as myself ;-)

Pirate ship is alright, but sixteen dollars for one micro fighter forget it!

The Naboo Starfighter has a very distinctive shape and this ain’t it.

Isn't it dark bluish grey t12 gear?

16 dollars for a good mandalorian and grogu? A buy for sure! (You can never have too much grogus...)

Yeah, no.

Equals reduced rack fodder. Non-movie sets always seem to end up there anyway.

By in United States,

That snubnose pirate ship is cool. With a little modification it is something that would be found at Squidman's Pitstop.

I bought that one too, and then a couple of others to keep him company. The bikes themselves seemed fair enough; the stunt builds were what seemed overpriced. But a 20% discount on one of the trucks (which will fit in with some of my other Fairgrounds sets) and the almost-reasonable price of the Dunk Stunt abruptly broke down my resistance--too many people kept mentioning how much fun they were to play with!

I will, however, continue not to buy Mario sets, no matter how many people admit to enjoying them. In this way, I can continue to think of myself as a hard-headed, fully adult collector. (Really?)

I bought a few of the blind bag characters, when they were still blind _bags_, and always only for the parts. There was one in particular that made a great lightning accessory pack that came out right around the time I actually needed a lot of those parts.

By in France,

285 parts for this lame thing... I bet the designers never played with an amazing 6891.

By in United Kingdom,

The build and minifigures look great, although the Nikto pilot isn't even in the episode this is based on, and since Vane flies a Snubfighter himself, I think they should have swapped the Pilot for Din Djarin or Gorian Shard, although the latter would be hard to make as a minifigure.
