LEGO teases Land Rover announcement!

Posted by ,

LEGO has published an intriguing teaser video on social media, featuring a LEGO-branded Land Rover in the Scottish Highlands.

The end suggests that a classic Land Rover 'Adults Welcome' model is forthcoming, so presumably a full reveal will occur in the next few days.

View the video after the break and let us know if it has piqued your interest in the comments.

British Jeep, basically

Gravatar
By in United States,

They kind of make it sound like we'll need one to buy one...

By in United States,

There's a LEGO Store in the Scottish Highlands??

Gravatar
By in United States,

For anyone else wondering "what is a Land Rover?", Lego made a Technic version of a more modern model: 42110. Presumably this one will be more brick-built.

Gravatar
By in United States,

V8's not G-8's!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dang it. I saw the word “rover” and got excited for the rumored Technic Perseverance Rover…

Gravatar
By in United States,

Still waiting for the G6 Bronco technic model. They did a Jeep. They did a Defender. And no, the Speed Champions racing Bronco will not suffice.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So I'm going to make the assumption that this will be a creator exp----Icons car. And not Technic like that beautiful olive green one from a few years back? I'm excited to see what they do with it

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is definitely not a starter car. A transporter of gods! The golden god!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like it is going to get the full rig - would be great if it was set up like the camel racing ones {obv without the sponsorship as that wouldn't go down very well}. Extra tanks, snorkel, bull bars, roof rack etc.

The yellow suggests it might be!

What's the point in these types of teasers? They don't pique my interest, they piss me off because I don't like being manipulated. Just release the damn product and then do promos.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Technic Defender was great... Been looking forward to this Icons version for ages!

I'm glad I'm not the only person who has that as their first thought when thinking of Land Rovers

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wait until Brickset learns that Land Rover has a military configuration. (Largely not used anymore, but apparently the British Army still uses one specific model.)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Bring it on! I'm only 5 or 6 vehicles behind in my building :)
I was wondering why they'd release a Land Rover as the 'icon' car given there's a Technic one already. But it does look great in the video!

Ah, that explains it lol. Thanks for the info!

Gravatar

I was more interested in trying to work out where they filmed it, rather than the nonsense tease.

Or... we've got it, we've built it, and the review's on the way?!

"It's not a Jeep. It's a Land Rover. It's like a Jeep, but for men" ;)

Quoted from a sticker on a Land Rover (not mine).

I am really hoping for a proper classic Defender reveal. Preferably black. Like mine.

Only 6.... Luxury. I've still got the VW T1 waiting to be built!

Gravatar

Wish they'd do a Speed Champions version.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@drbaggy YES! Optional accessories to click on like the Mustang would be great. Really looking forward to this.

@lippidp Manipulated? By a teaser? What on earth?

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

That "Adults Welcome" tagline still is extremely cringeworthy

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It would be pretty difficult to surpass the 42110 Technic Landrover defender, with it's 4 gear speed box, steering, winch etc., while still having a plush interior and bodywork styling.

My opinion is that these teasers are G.......................G . The blanks will be revealed at a later date."

my guess was: g..o..b..b..l..e..d..i..g..o..o..k but then it finishes with a k. I second the motion: they piss me off more than they pique my interest. Am I the only one who misses the time of two catalogues per year, and then you plan what you will get until the next catalogue...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am extremely chuffed about this (did I do that right?). Also, I second the call for an Icons Bronco (or an Icon, which also works).

When do we get an Irish Rover?

...or a Mars rover?

So it’ll be expensive and break easily? (I’m sure I’m conflating Range Rover and Land Rover, but it seemed like a Lego joke was there somewhere) :)

Asking if a Lego set for adults will be expensive is like asking if honey is sweet. :)

WDYM it's only been as long since the last LEGO one as it was between the actual Curiosity and Perseverance landing! It's basically no time at all :)

By in Australia,

I hope they do it in a nice color like Earth Green (aka Dark Green or British Racing Green) and not something boring like the Olive Green they did the last Land Rover in. Or Sand Yellow (aka Dark Tan), that's another color often associated with old-school Land Rovers.

Gravatar

It sounds strange to me that the question has been asked as to what a Land Rover is. They must be very rare in the USA then?

Usually they will pick a colour that hasn't been used before. So something (dark) tan would stand a good chance. Or bright blue, or sand blue.

Gravatar

It'd be cool if you followed that map and you found a copy of the set...

It's kinda fun to read how you wrote that article. I mean, you probably already have the model in your hands. haha.

i'll use the reply of an Australian politician to an attempted gotcha question:

just Google it, mate.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

They had better make a Gen I or Gen II Land Rover. Classic 1950s. The later models are rather generic. By the way, has anyone converted Lego's Land Rover Defender into Vera's Land Rover (from the TV show 'Vera'), or the St Marie Police Land Rover from the TV show 'Death in Paradise'?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was hoping for a Series I, II or III but I guess we‘ll get a Defender 110 with additional building instruction to build a Defender 90 in which case you‘ll have to buy two copies of the set. A Series III would be my favourite.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Basically a brick on wheels. Should be a breeze for Lego to do.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm on board with anything but the current Land Rover range. The current Defender, Evoque, Range Rover, etc. do nothing for me. The Defender, Series I-III, first-gen Range Rover, Foward Control, etc--I have a TON of these models in diecast, as old Land Rovers, here in the States, are impossible to find at Jeep prices.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

For the car enthusiasts out there, this might be a hint towards something that looks like a Camel Trophy. Without the ciggie branding of course.

Legit classic car, that one.

A friend of mine's son has a 2005 Discovery. There was ALWAYS some kind of mechanical (or mostly) electrical gremlins.

I don't think I know one person who has a vehicle or tractor with Lucas electrics that hasn't had problems with those bits.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Let's see. I've already got a dark tan original series Range Rover, a sand-green with white roof short wheelbase Defender and a yellow with black long wheelbase Defender with expedition accessories, all in the Creator Expert style and scale.
So, am I excited by a teaser for yet another brick built Land or Range Rover?
Not really. ;-)

And of the Jeep too. Not some Jurassic Park half attempt. Or even the 500. Essentially, all of these large scale vehicles should come with Speed Champions version and a 4 wide GWP version. For all price points and space requisites.

Proper Defender 110, as opposed to the 'new' Defender which is another Chelsea Tractor. Sign me up.

Dark blue body with a white roof would be my favourite

Yes Range Rovers are not a starter car - the are quite often more of a non-starter car - from the few people I know who have them.
