NINJAGO: Dragons Rising teaser trailer

Posted by ,

Following the poster a couple of weeks ago, the teaser trailer for the new season of NINJAGO has now been released.

The trailer gives very little information about the nature of this season, although does feature the two new heroes, intriguingly shown mostly from behind. I think we can identify some likely sets as well, including a new Destiny's Bounty and a squad of wheeled mechs.

Watch the teaser trailer below...

There be dragons!!!

There's also this trailer, though I'm not sure where it came from, whether it's been officially announced or is instead a leak.

By in United Kingdom,

Looks like some Monkee Kid style convertable vehicles in there, too.

New heroes & villains could be a nice touch - if you've got previous iterations, why would you want new sets with the core heroes? And reinventing the theme keeps a fresh batch of kids interested.

Hope the dragons are moulded and that you can choose to have them without any kind of armour/helmet.

Well, I LOVE IT :D

It might just be for the trailer, but does the animation style/quality seem like a step up? The two new Ninja look good, and who doesn't love a welding mask with cat ears!

Hopefully there will be a full set of character mechs released; it does bug me when not all of the Ninja get spinners/mechs/subs etc. I can understand why, but there's just something awesome about having a full set of Ninja in a full set of similar but individualised mechs.

The city looks great, and I'm sure we'd all appreciate another Ninjago modular within the next couple of years.

The Bounty looks fairly traditional, but they're usually good builds even if they're sometimes just re-worked designs. No disrespect to the set designers, I'm sure even minor seemingly cosmetic changes come with weeks of hard work and definitely talent above anything I have :)

I know nothing about Rock Raiders, but these monsters look really good to me, as do the dragons. I have so many Ninjago dragons now it's getting silly, but TLG make so many good ones I don't frequently pass on them.

Ninja
Mech
Dragon
City
Repeat

I'll be happy with that for the rest of my life.

(it's OK Monkie Kid, I still love you too)

Nexo did follow that formula with Hover Horses spread across the first and second wave, and then later Battle Suits as seperate sets. (one suit being exclusive to a Book)

If I had to choose, I'd likely favor them as seperately sold sets, but I can also understand part of spreading out certain figures/similar vehicles across the wave is a draw for "collect them all" marketing.

By in United States,

it also kinda looks like lego overwatch mechs in a way

By in United Kingdom,

Glad to see brickset acknowledging the trailers and marketing for the new season. We know one of the mechs will be a set, as will the bounty.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don’t see how you balance two-wheeled mechs, but they do look awesome!

Ninjago consistently has great set designs in fantastic colors with lots of different parts. As long as that continues, it should be a hit!

By in Singapore,

More mechs from what I can see & smaller sized mechs at that, definitely interesting to see what will come out as actual sets

" Dang, I was not expecting Power Miners-monsters.

I was definitely expecting new mechs, but the 'Ninjaverse of Newness' does seem like it'll deliver some cool designs (as, let's be honest, it always does).

I was NOT ready for Power Miners-monsters."

During the first season of Ninjago one of the giant Rock Monsters from Power Miners straight up appeared as a "Cragling"

I'm curious about the phrasing of "New worlds have risen." As a part of Ninjago's lore there are the "sixteen realms parallel to Ninjago." Weather than means 16 or 17 is a bit of a matter of debate, but regardless not every realm has appeared in the show yet. I wonder if this means we'll finally be exploring those missing realms, or if perhaps entirely *new* realms came into being. While it would be weird to expand your universe before properly exploring it, it could be a way of keeping the "Monster Fighters and BIONICLE are both realms of Ninjago" theories valid while still letting the writers go wild.

Or maybe its just flat out multiverse and alternate reality junk. That could work too.

By in France,

I have came out of my dark ages with SW sets, as an old fan of the franchise. But came slowly but surely to the Ninjago lore and sets. Mainly thanks to Brickset and Jangbricks reviews, which both clearly and thoroughly presented me those colorful, inventive, filled with enjoyable minifigs range of sets. I don't regret a single of my purchases. I even ordered the whole seasons on DVD and watched them along with my daughter. One of the most creative Lego range of the past decade to me. I love it. Even if it might have come a bit short on new ideas for the past 2 seasons I would say. But it is not a reproach at all. It has brought so many good ideas, mechs, monsters, colourful foes of many different kinds and excellent characters on its way. I like it, and much of the sets I have are today among my favorite, with quite a bunch of SW of course. But many people that come to see my display turn on Ninjago's. SW big grey ships look dull next to them.

Time. Space. Reality. It’s more than a linear path. It’s a prism of endless possibility, where a single choice can branch out into infinite realities, creating alternate worlds from the ones you know. I am the Watcher. I am your guide through these vast new realities. Follow me and ponder the question… What if?

I thought Ninjago: What if was just a fan-fiction of mine, but hey, I suppose it could work?

The question on all our minds is this: did they keep the Weekend Whip?

"You'd think time is a linear line from cause to effect, but in reality it's ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey... stuff." - The Doctor

Doctor Who said the same thing as The Watcher, but Who said it better ;-P

"There's another one. I don't know how many teasers LEGO intends to release, but releasing two in the same day is kind of odd. You'd think they'd space it out more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWjYNyhkP0E"

Eh, I'm not complaining. Given LEGO's record with promoting/handling Ninjago (one of their bestselling evergreen themes) poorly or sometimes straight up not doing it at all, to think we got so many new trailers (and official as well, not leaked) is amazing and great to see from LEGO.

I suppose they gotta put that Epic / LEGO partnership to good use as i believe this new show etc are developed with Unreal Engine 5.

The dragons were what got me into Ninjago to begin with, at this point I have too many dragons. Every wave that comes out I tell myself I already have enough dragons and then I find myself buying all of them. Then I say to myself "well, I can't have an incomplete set of the Ninja, and I have two of the mechs from this wave I may as well get them all".
I have a problem.

Woah, is that Nicol Bolas I see at the end there? XD

An MTG x Lego crossover would be sweet!

Well, maybe, but you have lots of dragons too! I suppose as long as you have food and shelter prioritised above dragons it's probably OK...

I just tried to make a top 5, which quickly became a top 10, which quickly became impossible... all I can say for sure is Master Wu Dragon, Fusion Dragon, and Skull Sorcerer's Dragon are right up there on my list.

The Golden Ultra and the Ice Dragon Creature might also be favourites soon but I've not built them yet.

Like you, dragon sets are what got me into Ninjago, but aside from not always getting a matching full set of Ninja I love most aspects of the theme now.

What are your favourite scaly beasts?

It's really hard to make a top 5 but it would contain the Morro Dragon, Skull Sorcerer Dragon, Jay's dragon from 2521 Lightning Dragon Battle, and Kai's dragon from 2507 Fire Temple.

I'm also a huge fan of Brick Legends mocs of Cole's Earth Dragon and Jay's Lightning Dragon. Highly recommend his stuff.

How about the Firstbourne dragon from 'Hunted' (2018)? I really like that beast!

Ooh I'll have to check out those mocs, even if it's just to say WOW (my moc skills are pretty limited). Talking of which, I do have modified versions of the Morro Dragon and 2507 dragon. They were released before I was into Ninjago, so I bought several part sets to complete them. My Morro Dragon has an elongated body, and Kai's Dragon has almost double wing-span. They're simple modifications, but I'm pleased with the results :)

70653 Firstbourne is brilliant! Number 7 on my ever-changing favourite list, and a great set overall too. Loads of cool figures and a helicopter towing a giant bait turkey!!! :D

Hunted is my favourite for sets, the baddies have such a great look. I never quite completed my double-size 70655 Dragon Pit, but I'll get back to it one day. I wanted to make the gate large enough to drive all the vehicle through, so it was more like a fortress entrance only opened when raiding parties are sent out to pillage and plunder. That season really got my imagination going.]]]]
