71424 Donkey Kong's Tree House has emerged via a LEGO Certified Store in Australia, found by Jay's Brick Blog.

This addition to the Super Mario range contains Donkey Kong alongside Cranky Kong, as teased yesterday. The price of £94.99 AUD will probably equate to around £59.99, $64.99 or €64.99, from comparable sets.

By in Germany,

Lego and their apes..

Looks fun but more on the expensive side of things, considering there are no minifigs.

By in Denmark,

Awesome. Are those leafs and pile of bananas not new elements? Haven’t seen them before.

Like the look of those new leaves. Immediately in two colours!

"Expand your Starter Course"
You absolute blind fools, do you have any idea what you have done? Give it time, a meme will be made.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Doesn't look like it has much course elements to fit in with the rest of the series.

Looks like Lego are slowly transitioning away from the course sets and making more traditional sets.

By in United Kingdom,

As a fan of the videogame series, I love the idea of having the entire brick built Donkey Kong "family" on display, but I'm certainly not prepared to pay that sort of money for the privilege. Still a nice looking set though.

By in United States,

Oh check out those new leaf and banana pieces

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I did mention a fair bit earlier in the other Donkey Kong post, but anyway…

New banana mould (?) and leaves look interesting.

By in United States,

Is the 2x4 oblong dome that is used for Donkey Kong’s mouth a new piece? It looks like it has a groove in it, which limits its reuse (should have been a print).
Also, is the 1x1 corner rounded slope that makes up his tuft of hair on his head new? Very useful part.

No thanks... waiting to join the Pac-Man crew!

By in Austria,

Those are some sad looking palm trees.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can absolutely hear the DK Country theme music looking at these.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the set and the look of the characters, but again those prices!

Only ever played DK 64 - which I loved.

I had it in my head that DK was an interactive character like Mario...

By in Ireland,

Having put hundreds of hours into Donkey Kong Country on the Super Nintendo back when it first released, I'll definitely be getting this. It intersects perfectly on the gaming and Lego nostalgia for me.

By in Netherlands,

A set worth picking up ( If you van agree on the price ) without having any other mario sets. This is a nice stand-alone set!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I'm sad that we're still so far away from minifigure scale Mario and Donkey Kong figures, but I'm loving all the new foliage pieces this year.

I think that's two parts, a 1x4 "half dome". Looks like the top one is printed, and the bottom isn't. The 1x1 corner slope for the hair isn't completely new, but is still a pretty rare part and new in brown.

Donkey Kong's mouth looks to be two pieces, with nostrils printed on the upper one.
The 1x1 on top of his head is probably the one printed with headlights in 76911 Aston Martin DB5.

By in Latvia,

Too overpriced. (As all Mario sets in general)
I don't really care about Mario sets in general, but as soon as this set is on sale, I'll take it.
DK and Cranky turned out very well, it would certainly be better if instead of Cranky there was Diddy, but it will do for me...

But there are licensed figures that use unique printed parts. Minifigures don't really cost LEGO any more to make than other similar parts.

Where’s the data to support that assertion?

By in Puerto Rico,

So it seems both are brick built, interesting and I am hearing the DK rap already.

Printed minifigure parts cost similar amounts to printed non-minifigure parts if you buy them from LEGO.

By in Canada,

This looks like a good display set! Wow I can’t believe I might actually buy something from Mario

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have no interest in this set from the moment it was announced. Why do I suddenly want it so bad? What’s wrong with me??!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is DK's tie a fabric element? Is that the first time one of those has shown up on a Super Mario character? I know fabric elements have shown up in s=Super Mario sets before, such as 71367's hammock, but I don't think I've seen them used in character builds.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I like the new feet bricks- not sure if that’s a new monkey legs element too.

Edit- I see it’s a single element now.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Price is too high considering it is the same as the other starter courses but those included battery powered thingies. This is a €40 set

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set is bananas. My oldest is gonna go ape over this one.

I just think DK should have gotten the Mario treatment as another playable character.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Now I will need to buy 1000 of the new banana mould and make DK’s giant pile.

And Yoshi is a koopa! Mario is going to be in big trouble for his incorrigible insensitivities.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I see the bongo's there.

DONKEEEEY KONGA!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh, I forgot to say…

“HE’S THE LEADER OF THE BUNCH, YOU KNOW HIM WELL!”

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think they should've made it larger probably at $100.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Donkey Kong’s arms give me an idea that could save me a bit of money, rather than trying to get the right color of bigfig arms.

@Librarian1976:
I kinda think it’s two pieces, and the groove is just where the two pieces touch. It would make the part more useful in the future, but it’s also some NPU if you can design the part to create a feature like that just by being two pieces instead of one.

@Spike730:
The palm trees look more cartoony than based on actual palm fronds. In that regard, they look pretty good.

@MBUK:
Minifigs do when you consider that the basic form of a minifig counts as only three pieces (legs, torso, head), but requires nine pieces from eight different molds, and two of those “pieces” have to be assembled correctly including factoring in any printed patterns.

By in Belgium,

yeah,
looks rather uninteresting, hughly overpriced and those new leaves look...wierd?
I dont know... I always find it strange that there are people that look at this and go: "wow, this is the best thing since sliced bread!!"
tomáto, tomàto I guess
