LEGO teases the DK Crew!

"So they're finally here, performing for you..."

LEGO has posted a short video on social media, teasing the upcoming summer wave of Super Mario sets. In it, we are introduced to Cranky Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and perhaps unexpectedly, Funky Kong!

These characters join the previously announced Donkey Kong figure. I suspect that the full range of sets will be revealed very soon.

What do you think? Are you excited? Let us know in the comments, and view images of the Kongs after the break...

Cool. More Stuff for the Mario Legoverse! Hopefully the Mario Movie has driven a bit of interest!

By in United States,

I hope they can do some minifig-scale figures in the Super Mario line. Maybe in time they will, or after increased interest from the Mario movie.

Bless you for linking to the DK Rap. I just showed it to my kids for the first time a few days ago. These look pretty good!

Back in my day, we used to have REAL Lego... We didn't have any of this fancy 3D stuff!

You are a good parent, objectively.

I'd shower you with coconut Lego pies

By in Ireland,

Excellent!
It does mean the Donkey Kong Country soundtrack will be playing in my head on repeat all day though. Not unwelcome but might begin to irritate others in the office when I'm humming it for hours on end.

No one should ever skip leg day.

I betcha that the pirnting is going to be not what the images tell us, considering a phot of DK had horrible printing.

By in United States,

So, Diddy Kong Racing is assured.

Donkey Kong looks ok, the others all look gawdawful. Like, dollar store block abominations of your favorite Kongs. I can't believe these got through quality control!

How would you improve them? Considering they have to be brick built and meant to interact with the Mario type sets?

And then there's Chunky!

he's dead...

It's Funkin' time

Considering all of the DK figures shown are the playable roster in Tropical Freeze, there's a good chance some of the sets might be based on that game.
Which would be great, since Tropical Freeze is one of the greatest 2D Platformers ever created by man.

I would've scrapped the whole idea if this is the best they could do.

Good thing you're not in charge then, they look great.

EDIT: For some reason my comment went in the quote and I wasn't able to fix it. Bleh.

I’m guessing you’re one of the ones that only wants actual mini figure, and anything else is stupid?"

Glad you like them. Sadly they will all come in separate sets at ridiculous prices because Lego is in charge. And the sets will be 90% boxes of 2x8 plates and those Mario platform pieces.

Well I would greatly prefer minifigures, yes. I wouldn't call anything stupid, but in my opinion these look very cringe.

What’s Grodd wearing a necktie for?
