By in United States,

A big shield and a new Hogwarts. Interesting. Not sure I need them, but they'll probably end up in my house.

Nice Friends sets. SW battlepack and Yavin are underwhelming, but pretty good. Don't understand why another Yoda fighter? The great white shark is a welcome return, but will look tiny compared with the eventual Jaws set!

Love the green Ewok in the AC. Wonder if Omega will be different than in the Justifier? Can anyone see/know who are the Sith figure and woman in the SWAC? Are we getting an X-mas Palpa-Palpa-Palpitine?!

By in Jordan,

I like the look of the small Technic Lamborghini 42161.

By in Netherlands,

4 Years ago I would definitely have bought the Hogwarts grounds as a cheap alternative of 71043, but now with all that is going on with the author, I think I will skip it.
However, it looks absolutely amazing and I look forward to read the instructions to see if there are some clever building techniques or hidden details.

By in United States,

Finally some actual pics of the new Star Wars sets.

By in United States,

I brought that shield to fight Thanos but it shattered into thousands of tiny pieces and I got my butt kicked.

And it was somehow more expensive than the Vibranium one.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

This Captain America shield is definitely the most stupid set in history.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the use of the quarter dome pieces for the igloo-like house in Friends 41760 ; they might be handy for people wanting to complete the enclose the botanical garden (which oddly doesn't seem to be in this catalogue).

That shield build looks so boring

By in United States,

Also, it looks like a bunch of the Minecraft sets in there are unannounced, but I'm not quite interested enough to run the names through translation. 21250 looks like a pretty unwelcoming place, though. Is the dolphin in 21247 new?

By in United Kingdom,

The MARS rover is the only one so far will be on my purchase list.

I think the shield if Lego manages to use shiny plate to cover the front will not better.

By in Australia,

Ooh, a few unannounced sets in there. I spot a Mario one, but no mention of Mario collectible figures.

By in United States,

Oh! Thank you for the PDF of the Japanese language catalog. Love the Space Jet Coaster 3 in 1 coming in August! Haven't seen it before.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love that Lego is still pumping out HP sets despite the calls to cancel JK. Hogwarts looks great

This Friends wave just keeps on giving!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

looks like there is going to be a Lego Masters Japan.

Stupid is a bit too strong for me but definitely the most boring set to build ever.

The dolphin came in 21152 the pirate ship adventure, a set released in 2019

Captain America’s Shield is looking cool - would go great with Mjolnir. Now all I need is a Superman shirt and I’m good to go!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Friends continues winning

Gravatar
By in United States,

Regarding the shield, the complex geometry involved in both the gradual curve of the shield itself, and creating a five-point star using a system of parts that’s based around rectangles, is certainly a technical achievement. It’s just a very boring one.

Also, after the GotG AC, are we just pretending there’s not another Marvel AC in this catalog?

These look frosted, while the Botanical Gardens ones are clear, don't think it will match!

By in Australia,

No interest in Minecraft, Technic or Mario, so I won't go too much into there. The Friends sets are also lower priorities.

City: Passenger plane looks okay, but what is with that tail? I'm not an aviation expert but I'm sure that the design is a pretty rare sight if it even is one. Advent Calendar is fine, and a Mrs. Claus figure is welcome.

Harry Potter: The UCS Hogwarts is still available isn't it? I'm not sure why LEGO would push this out not so long afterwards, but this version looks excellent. I'm sure this will make a good addition to the collection without breaking the bank (compared to the 2018 one anyway). I also like the new hair-hat combo reclours in the Advent Calendar.

Marvel: I'm sure it will look great on display, but the Shield looks like it might be one of the most boring sets to build. Maybe ever. Not for me.

Sonic: Nailed the mech. Looks like a fun set.

Star Wars: Okay here's the big one. The Yavin 4 base looks really good, especially for a set that we've been waiting on for so long. Hopefully the price isn't too egregious, and if it's less than $250 AUD I'll try and get it. Yoda's Starfighter is a decent model as well, but it doesn't look like much was changed from the 2017 version and I have both minifigures anyway. Pretty torn on the 332nd BP: there are rumours that the Battle Packs are going through another price increase and if that's true, I'm just going to give up. It doesn't help that the new Phase II helmet mold is still ugly.

As for the advent calender, the image is too small to efficiently analyse, but if Omega and the 212th trooper are available, sign me up! Palpatine and Leia are also welcome additions, and I'm eager to see their outfits.

By in United States,

That Yavin 4 set is seriously disappointing. It doesn't look much more complex than the prototype that was shown in a LEGO book almost 2 decades ago. I suppose price-point limitations cornered the product designers here, though a proper look at the set from other angles will be necessary.

Good spot! I would like to watch that. Anybody got any ideas how to in the UK? We can get NHK World, but looks like it is on TBS?

The shield would have looked a lot better with tiles, IMO. Would have inflated the piece count significantly, but I think it would have increased the appeal. Having such a bumpy shield is odd.

The bumps are for extra pleasure and feel during play. ;)

I guess the English version is imminently available as the Jan-Jun version is no longer accessible on Lego.com.

I dunno; I think the black panther bust is pretty dumb..

Gravatar
By in United States,

Only 1 rebel trooper, another bdh (still has the ugly color mismatch issue), and a tiny set for 170.. ugh

I swear to god; if red and gold leader have that same generic pilot face...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Looking at that Technic Audi.....are those all prints? Maybe the resolution is just too low, but I don't think I see any sticker edges....

Gravatar
By in Germany,

You can already find the final pictures on several online stores (e.g. jb-spielwaren.de Set 76419)

Gravatar
By in France,

I will buy the new Hogwarts castle on day 1, much more affordable than the previous one!!

On the other hand, hard pass on the Yavin set which is very disappointing...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Christmas Ewok, Reindeer Gonk Droid, a mechanical santa droid from that first episode movie (is it a pit droid? Don’t remember their names) and Xmas sweater Palpatine. If only they gave him the hot coco like in that new friends skiing set he would be perfect. And you say Omega, but i say Cindel from the Ewok Adventure x-D (suits better for the Endor theme this calendar has)

It's no more stupid than all the helmet display sets.

The Technic Huracan looks pretty (and hardly any stickers to be seen, which definitely sparks joy), but I wonder what it does - I see some angled pistons there, so probably a V10 or V12 engine, but what else? There is no HOG knob on the top (perhaps on the back?) and neither the doors nor the hood look like they're openable. It's a bit of a bummer if pistons end up being the only function there.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I don't mind the Yavin 4 set, (and I'm sure most will disagree with me) but I would prefer a balance between a more detailed build and less mini figures (6 or so - like the 75190 set) rather than a basic build with 12 mini figures. Given that it's an 8+ set it probably makes sense with its current balance though.

Happy with the battle pack and I really like that Hogwarts display set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh look, more Technic cars.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Great ..Yavin 4, 1k pieces 160 eur. Sarcasm off. The minifigs are great but the build is just bland. I suppose this will quickly fall to 100-120 mark with discount because the set does not offer anything interesting (if I disregard minifigs).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Chibi Yavin IV to go with the chibi Y Wing.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I may replace my 71043 with this one, much easier to display.

Also... Star Wars mechs? There are no mechs in SW!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Try as I might, I just can’t get over that tail in 60367 .
Looks like World City vibes, which is a shame as otherwise it seems like a fairly nice plane set.
I’m aware aircraft with this sort of tail do exist, but it’s not like you actually board them when flying as a commercial passenger.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@RaiderOfTheLostBrick:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-tail

The airplane tail is a legitimate style, but I doubt there are any commercial airliners that use it. The main advantage seems to be improved stealth characteristics, but it apparently doesn’t offer the improvements in function that were theorized.

By in United States,

Using 76209 and 76262 for recreating the scene in Avengers where Thor attacks Cap is not recommended. I have a feeling that Yavin base is going to be expensive and space-consuming. May have to be the first minifig-scale Y-Wing I miss out on. Shame. At least I should be able to get Yoda's starfighter, I missed out on the last one, and the Wta-2 is probably my favorite prequel fighter.

@PurpleDave: Hopefully, this year's Marvel AC will take after the Avengers one, not the GotG one.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I get the feeling that I might be slipping into a second dark ages period.
There's not a single set in this selection that offers the sort of wow factor that would make me want to own it.
Or perhaps it's just the realization that I have way too many sets already and need to drastically cut down on my brick set collecting.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I think the superheroes line-up is starting to suffer from creative poverty. Marvel sets like Black Panther bust, multiple hulkbusters and a captain America shield. DC can only provide Tim Burton Batman sets...

Maybe LEGO can do some castle/ pirate/ classic space sets instead :P

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Really digging that Audi, it's been a while since we've had a proper remote control car that wasn't a buggy or some flippy thing!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is the shield now the most repetitive build in Lego history?
Well I do actually like it,I'm just not gonna buy it because all the other sets that released today are a larger priority for me.

Cancel culture isn’t real. People are free to refuse to buy HP products and encourage others to do the same because of Rowling’s views, same as people are free to do the opposite or ignore the issue entirely.

And LEGO will continue to produce HP products so long as the money is there - which is why people advocate boycotts in the first place.

I’d be very curious about how LEGO employees feel - I’m sure that many LGBTQ+ people work for them, and I’m sure many don’t support the company’s continued partnership with the franchise.

Mosaics? A former member of my LUG once complained about the tedium of building the wall on 21010 (almost entirely 1x2 plates).

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The shield is a good example of something looking to be a genuinely impressive feat of designing. But a pretty meh end result. All because of the source material (although I'm not a Captain America superfan or anything, so as always it's not for me.) But even so, it looks more impressive to design than to build or display. Which is just a waste of design talent if you ask me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Unpopular opinion, but I love the Yavin IV set at the right price. Though with that many minifigs, I'm scared to see what the price will be.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the Mini Hogwarts Castle a lot, just as I preferred the mini Taj Mahal over the larger one. Much more manageable size.

As for the Rowling controversy, have an opinion, but do make very sure it's based on what she's actually said and not what others claim she's said!
