An Australian LEGO Certified Store has revealed a hitherto unknown Marvel Super Heroes set, 76250 Wolverine's Adamantium Claws.

This unusual model is based on Disney+'s upcoming X-Men '97 animated series and will be released on August 1st, containing 596 pieces and costing AU $109.99. General pricing is not yet confirmed, but we can guess it will be around £59.99, $69.99 or €69.99, going by similar sets.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments, and view more images after the break...

Thanks to Jay's Brick Blog for the news.

Ooh, nearly!

It needed the ability to wear it, or retract the claws...

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Nice for the Marvel fans I guess, but for me the set must have included real Adamantium before I would have been interested ;P

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Can we have Dr Strangelove's black glove? Or just an iron fist for all the up and coming bricktators out there?

LOL These sets are so stupid. Who wants to buy a giant hand? I can't see this coming in handy for anything.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

The Infinity Gauntlets made sense, but this?
Even the description "Marvel Superheroes Glove collection," sounds goofy at best.

A back scratcher maybe? (But probably too fragile for that.)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I guess they have a decent design for a hand so are using it?
4th time we have seen something like this,
The Infinity Gauntlet.
Nano Gauntlet.
Black Panther
And now this...

Infinity and Nano were at least interesting designs. This is just blue with some claws stuck on

You've never wanted to stab three small objects simultaneously?

Well. Clearly you and I live very different lives.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nowhere near as impressive as the Infinity Gauntlets and also disappointing that this stuff isn't getting leaked as much as it used to.

Good for backhanded compliments, the kind that cut the most deeply.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I will say though, this is dumb and I love it.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

This set is handist. Why are companies allowed discriminate against left handed people? I demand they release a left handed version which I won’t buy either or instructions for the left hand version which I won’t build.

Haha that's actually a legit idea! But yeah the claws would probably snap off too easily.

@Whero "The Infinity Gauntlets made sense, but this?

Exactly, unless it's a return of the Spongebob theme as a Marvel - Nickelodeon mash up regarding Glove World.

Gravatar

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Wolverine's claws are coming to town

Thanos and the MCU can get stuffed, you can't beat Bunnings gardening glove, only $17.99!

Adamantium??

Cough! Sorry, I'm allergic to pointless.

I thought light stone grey would blend better than dark stone grey with the metallic or pearl silver.

Does LEGO know that it was called ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ and not ‘Wolverine: The Animated Series’?

Like, when you open 3 jars of different olives, and want all three at once.

Like, when there's a really good cheese plate and you want all three at once.

Like when you're camping and you really want to have a three marshmallow s'more.

Like.... (I can do this all day!).

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It would be rather amusing wearing this glove and when someone annoys you you very obviously and awkwardly break off the outer two claws leaving the middle claw... XD

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Funny, I kind of like it. :D

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

To be honest, I like the box better than the build.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

You bought Thanos and Iron man hand so they made more for you. hahaha

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Those lifestyle photos are a bit of a stretch.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It looks rather bland, especially compared to earlier glove sets. Sure, such is the source material, but can't say I like how it looks. Also the blades look way too thick. Now I don't think it would have worked better with some sideways construction, this is just the limits of what can be done with Lego.

While I doubt it was intended, I do actually like the grey pieces behind the drum lacquered tiles, as it gives those blades the impression of some profile. The impression of an edge without having one. It also does look quite good from the back, just a shame Lego doesn't make the thin inverted tiles ("mini baseplates") like Cobi has.

But most of all: How awesome would it indeed have been if the blades could retract? Dare I say such a feature alone would elevate this from a meh set to absolutely awesome?

Oh, and I'll keep my comments on the pricing until that is confirmed....but I certainly don't have my hopes up.

I might keep the left and right one retracted and use the remaining pose to show the attitude I feel towards TLG in recent years.
At least that middle finger/claw is Adamantium...
;-p

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Well would you look at that, they finally made a wolverine product with more or less proportionate claws.

Friggin monkey's paw'd us on that one. Though I guess someone must be buying these since they keep making them

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

It looks like we'll get 49563 PLATE 1X2 W/HOLDER, VERTICAL in dark blue thanks to this so I'm happy.

Gravatar
By in France,

Up until now, I assumed it was just a glove display, like the SW Helmets. But if the claws are included in the one, it must mean they chopped off the hand xD
It'd be funny it they added some red bricks underneath to illustrate that :D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Honestly with some of their set choices lately, it feels like LEGO is becomming desperate for good ideas.

Even with Wolverine being my favourite of the X-men, this isn't a set I'm interested in in the slightest.

The entire DC universe the last few years, glaring at Batman:
First time?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I want the Craw from Get Smart. And I genuinely think that would be more popular than this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I do also wonder how often those lifestyle pics don't even show an actual building phase of the set according to the instructions, but just some random incomplete model. Often you do even see some completed sub-assemblies next to it, how often does Lego let you build those and not right away attach to the model?

This one at least seems somewhat believable, though I bet this dude is looking at Lego for the very first time since his childhood.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

This is a fairly goofy and, for the value you get, very much overpriced set imo. A movie-accurate version could have been an AFOL Collector's Edition entry but this one is just very disappointing. Shaping is too simplistic, colors are boring. For kids, it's too expensive without play value, for AFOLs, it's not a nice home decoration.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like the way the claws are done. The dbgrey works well to give it the illusion of depth.

...

What else am I supposed to say? It's a dark blue glove whereas we previously got a gold one and a sci-fi one, both with six colorful gems.

At least people who are super into wolverine are eating good this year! XD

Lots of villains in alternate future Marvel stories proudly display dismembered Wolverine hands. Usually just the bones though; that should be a building option here.

I'm not big-up on Marvel Universe lore, but I seem to recall that cutting off any part of the Wolverine is tricky, at best.

Do you think *Marvel* knows that it's called 'X-men: The Animated Series' and not 'Wolverine: The Animated Series'? ;-)
There's a reason there's a trope called "Wolverine Publicity" - Marvel famously put Wolverine on the cover of several comic books that didn't (or barely) featured him.

Gravatar

I bet they are made from plastic.

"No, not the Craw. The Craw!"

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Given they must have cut off Wolverine's hand for this, is the rest of him going to regenerate a hand or are you going to end up with a life-size Wolverine growing out of this?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The infinity gauntlets were cool, this one just doesn't work for me

Gravatar
By in United States,

With Cap's shield, Mjolnir, Iron Man's helmet, and now Wolverine's glove, we're that much closer to being able to make our own Lego Maestro with fallen hero armor.

(Fairly deep cut--just Google "Maestro with fallen hero armor," or if you really want to depress yourself, "Rick Jones' trophy room.")

Gravatar

In summary: these type of sets made sense for the gauntlets, nothing else in the MCU that’s hand based is as famous. Yet here we are. With a blue glove that has gray lines coming out of it.

The only set that is due to be made in this collection is Luke Skywalker's cut hand, to join his previously released lightsaber.

I love XTAS and Wolverine and own the first gauntlet set so you’d think I’d be the target market for this, but I just don’t see the point. As iconic as his claws are, this model doesn’t evoke enough Wolverine feelings for me to bite.

The comments on this are truly top tier, maybe some of the best I have ever seen. Way to go everybody, way to go.

This set on the other hand...just...what is Lego actually doing. Just make us a set with the X-Men minifigs! It would please kids and adults alike. I don't need anymore brick built HANDS.

Yeah, now I'm wondering what the deal is with my Lego Star Wars art and the floral collections we've started getting.

Oh well. At least my Mjolnir model could reasonably be used on a home invader. Once.

I don’t really get it. Isn’t the whole point of them that they’d be sorta impossible to cut off and display?

There's an issue of the 2015 Old Man Logan series where Wolverine's hand is cut off. He regrows it, but now that hand is bone, claws included, for the rest of the series. (Later, he died. Alternate future version of the character; the "real" Wolverine is still out there.)

Rumors say there's a second Marvel Minifig series coming which will include figures from some of the more recent/upcoming Disney+ shows, including "X-Men '97"

Gravatar
By in United States,

If they sent that to me for free I probably wouldn’t build it. Who is green lighting all these terrible ideas for Marvel sets?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The most interesting part of this set is that it explains where the light grey optimus prime mouth piece in the Ninjago City Markets came from, it seemed like a really odd recolor for a set like that, this explains it. I suppose.

Infinity Gauntlet?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

That's a lot of money for just a hand full of bricks.
If you really feel like you need this, I recommend to wait a bit and buy it second hand.
I can't grasp the idea behind this. It leaves me scratching my head.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love this. I’ve never been tempted to buy these helmet display type sets, but Wolverine is one of my favorites. I doubt I’ll get this because there’s just too much on my list. However, if I were to get it I totally wouldn’t be running around the house screaming “berserker barrage!” Nope.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Would've been better as crossed hands with the claws.
Set up like the Black Panther's busts hands. Crossed over.
Not as wide/spread-out like the Panther's hands, but tighter in so the claws would be angled upward more.
Then a big X or X-Men logo centered behind it.

Gravatar
