I'm not a fan of the turtles but I will let you know what i think. I like the look of the sub, looks like a lot of SNOT involved and I'm not sure what that creature is in the mutation lab but I want it.

By in Germany,

The mutation Lab creature is a spider mutant named 'Spider Bytez'. His pre-mutated form is also included, the guy named Victor. I'm liking the sub too, doubt we'll see a turtle-shaped sub again^^ Also the character Leatherhead seems to have turned out better than I feared. Not so sure about Karai though... That road sign in 79118 reads 'Bleecker Str.' I might wonder if that is a nod to the original TMNT movie from 1989, nice detail xD

By in Australia,

I'm with MrD, not really a fan but like set which means I'm much more likely to buy this TMNT set for my nephew who is a fan. As a non-fan this is a big improvement on last year's sets.

I'm not a fa of the turtles, but have to say these look notiicibly better than last years sets.

@Atuin: Actually, "Bleecker Street" is the name of a Simon & Garfunkel song from the 1960's maybe 1970's... just saying.

And now I've got that song stuck in my head! ;-)

By in North Macedonia,

Glad to see they finally made a Minifig of Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force in 79119.

By in Netherlands,

Bleecker Street and Broadway: it's an actual location: http://goo.gl/maps/xgYcH
And it's a bit of a distance from there to 11th and Bleecker as mentioned in the 1990 Turtles movie.

Gotta say, I really like these sets, and they might just be the sets I am most excited for later this year. I really loved the first couple of sets, and I'm glad Lego is able to continue the licence.

The Ninja Turtle line made no sense to me when they first introduced it. I was only familar with the cartoon and movie from the 80's. My son picked out the Nickelodeon version at the library and after watching it I appreciate the sets a lot more.

Spider Bytes looks too small, but I do like the Victor minifig. It's great that they've included a smartphone tile for him. Those of you who have seen that episode know how important that phone was to Victor.

I'm glad to see the $13 Karai bike set has Leonardo in it. So far he's only been in the larger sets and I didn't want to shell out the money for those. It would be pretty cool if more of those(hopefully not stickered) road signs show up in other sets.

I'm...having problems comprehending the villain from the mutation chamber.

Is the bike 'shell' a new one in 79118?

fikko - That's Spder Bytes. You saw him in Season 1 of TMNT.

Overall, I am loving having many more new TMNT sets to pick up and can't wait. It did take a little bit for the artstyle of the new show to grow on me, but they've shown they've got what it takes to be a good kids show without having to dumb themselves down.

As a fan of the original cartoon show I am just speechlessly confused. The old show had fairly simple but stylish vehicles. Like a green and yellow van with laser guns and a rad spoiler. Not a tube shaped (where is the engine, again?) tanky-car with oddly dropping wheels that's all brown-gray and looks like it's from Dawn of the Dead.

I just can't make heads or tails of these. They're just... bizarre, (even the ones from the first wave) with the sole exception of the submarine, which is kind of neat.

Glad I won't be tempted to buy any of these. Excited for the olive and dark green minifigs for the remaining sets, can't wait to see them!

@DanRSL: Do yourself a favor and check out the new TMNT show!!! I'm a huge fan of the original show too, but this new one gives it a run for its money. There are tons of references and nods to the history of the Turtles too.

By in Europe,

My son is going mad over these. He is a huge fan and has all the other sets so these will be top on his birthday list.

By in United States,

Hmm, so are those remaining three sets listed going to be from the TV show, or from the new live-action movie?

$100 Turtle Lair Invasion (They just did a "lair attack" set from the TV show, so maybe this is from the movie?)
$40 Turtle Van Takedown (Again, they just did the "van" from the TV show, so maybe this is from the movie?)
$70 Big Rig Snow Getaway (This one could be from either one...)

If so, it might make me glad I did not get the original versions of those sets yet, although I totally love the show!

@ The_Chosen_1: I agree! I also really like the old and new show as well as these new sets.

@ therealindy: those three sets will be based on the movie.

By in United Kingdom,

These actually look half decent. I hope the spider legs on Spider Bytez are in black, I could find many other uses for them :-)

All this has done is made my wanted list bigger...

By in United States,

I like them but I am a little upset with the set that has Kirby in it. I was hoping to see Bee Mikey. My son was going around all summer saying, ok buzz buzz, can I play on the Xbox buzz buzz. So I think this set would have been better with a bee Mikey. I want that turtle sub the most.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The sub looks good.
The rest seem as baffling to those of us who haven't seen the new show as the last wave.
I would think LEGO would have an interest in designing sets that appeal to "casuals" and not just hardcore fans, considering how the sets have languished on shelves.

By in United Kingdom,

It'll be good to get some more Kraang and I'm looking forward to getting these sets.

I'm just hoping some of the characters from the current comic make an appearance, I really need Lego Bebop and Rocksteady.

By in Indonesia,

@AETerry; ah, thanks...remind me to catch up on my TMNT when the time allows.

By in United States,

The characters u don't know are Spyder bytes who was originally a mean man named Vic or Victor and threatened to upload a video he caught of the turtles on the internet. Then he tried to sell it to the Kraang but they tied him up. In an accident during a fight with the Kraang and the turtles he he got Mutageon poured on him while a spider was crawling up his arm he turned into Spyder Bytes. Kirby Bat (Wingnut) April's father got mutated when they were helping the turtles stop the kraang from sending the shredder a Mutageon supply. Karai is Splinters biological daughter The Shredder kidnapped her when she was a baby and now she thnks The Shredder is her dad...Leo has a crush on her. Lastly Leather head was once an aligator that a little boy had but when his parents discovered him they flushed him down the toilet. The Kraang found him and took him back to Dimension X to experiment on him they torued him beat him and mutated him. He is now an allie of the turtles however sometimes he goes insane his eyelids turn white and he attacks the turtles. He was sent to dimension X and seeinghim again is unknown.

^Ah, thank you. I was a sort-of fan of the '03 show, so I hazily remembered Karai...11 years in between did not help my memory.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Those sets look very interesting! I think the sub and Spyder byte look great but that T-Rawket thing looks weird. I wonder what those other sets are? New Turtles movie?

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

The sub looks nice... for first look! :-)

By in Canada,

@DanRSL: I have never watched ANY version of TMNT, but the Shellraiser makes absolute perfect sense to me after someone explained what it is (a converted subway car — I can hardly imagine a more appropriate vehicle for the Turtles, who live in the sewers of New York). I have been in many a subway car with almost exactly that shape, if not raised up on giant monster truck tires!

Anyway, that turtle sub is adorable!

By in United States,

When I first saw the TMNT sets in the store - I did a total eye roll; I didn't even know that "the Turtles" were back. However, after my son started asking for them, I did a little digging and found episodes of the show on iTunes. Now we are all hooked - my son, my daughter, and me (my wife predictably still gives the eye roll). The show hits the perfect sweet spot of being kid friendly but adult tolerable and entertaining - although it is a bit violent. It is much closer to the original darkly satirical comic book than the TV show / movies of the early 90s.

I cannot see how anyone would get excited about these sets without seeing the show. Having seen it, though, they all make sense. I was disappointed in the Shellraiser set only because it is so unstable a build - falls apart easily and the wheels don't lock in position, so it is one of the those models my sons is constantly asking for help putting back together.

It is unfortunate IMHO that the movie and the show will be so different, and that LEGO has licensed both. Seems likely to create confusion on the consumers part, especially if the comments above about the current sets not selling are accurate.
