By in Canada,

Unfortunate for Lego for the image leak last week. I'm sure that they would have preferred to have revealed it a week before its October release as they have done with most of their SW UCS sets. Still, an absolutely fantastic-looking set.

By in United States,

In Lego’s pictures- image 12, the large 8x16 plate has been printed!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really just want a bunch of those larger dark bley wheels. I don’t think I’ve seen them in that color before.

Rivendell.

With that aside, this is certainly an impressive model and I hope it’s given a substantial shelf life so fans can hope to afford it someday.

By in France,

So glad the prequels are getting another UCS set ! The Venator has always been my favourite ship from the prelogy, I can't wait to buy it !

It looks odd they didn't release a full HD picture of Rex tho, since he'll be a selling point for many people on his own.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

It's certainly an impressive build, but not as impressive as putting stickers in a 5k+ piece set with only 2 figures and 12c PPP.

I have seen a detailed image of the minifigures circulating on various instagram pages. I suspect that Huw is still in the process of uploading these images to the site.

By in Germany,

The Venator looks just so much better than a normal Star Destroyer. Great set, big price tag, unfortunately. Ninjago City has the same amount of pieces and costs $300 less.

One let down: The 4 big stickers, the gray ones could have been plates/wedges, the sign should be a print, especially for that amount of money.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

For that price and with stickers, I was really expecting some kind of interior diorama besides just the small hangar.
But at the same time, I really don't know what kind of memorable interior they could have put in it.

6 - two signs, two in the same line as the signs, and two in the back.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Glad the good Star Destroyer is finally getting the UCS treatment. Looks amazing.
Currently rewatching Clone Wars just increases the hype.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Still meh. I love Venators. But I don't care for the TCW version.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Six big stickers... Why?

It's a pity that the stand is not identical to 75252

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks good, but what is with the dark shadows in the official pictures?

The brigde maybe or a big hangar for Jedi Star Fighters, Gun Ships or ARC-170s.

Nope, not interested in the TCW version.

May I ask why? There are not many differences between them, other than stylistic things inherent to animation. Off the top of my head, the Open Circle Fleet symbols are situated further back on the animated version, while the film design has two more engines and the small dorsal hangar door. There are other small changes, but those would likely be lost at this scale anyway.

I am not disputing your opinion, I am just curious.

The front-on view looks like Jar Jar. Might actually get this one.

And just like Rivendell, it's a day one purchase that I won't be able to build for lack of room...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Say what you will about the prequel trilogy, but its vehicle design has certainly stood the test of time. If I’m honest, I think like a lot of the designs better than their OT equivalents- although I’ve avoided UCS stuff in the past, so I’ll be giving this one a miss.

Gravatar

A huge gray arrow cannot be a set of the year candidate.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Any day now for the avengers tower...

Gravatar
By in Philippines,

must have it....
that looks awesome,

Gravatar
By in United States,

No Imperial capital starship designs top the OG star destroyers or the Executor, IMO. Prequel ship designs aren’t bad, but almost all of them feel really derivative of OT designs. Yes, I get that “in-universe” this is basically a proto-Star Destroyer so it naturally *kinda* looks like it, but this is one reason why THE PHANTOM MENACE is my favorite PT film - the ship and vehicle designs actually felt entirely NEW, like stuff we hadn’t seen before. Only the Sith Infiltrator particularly resembles anything from the OT, and that’s on-screen for all of 10 seconds.

Yeowch at that price. That’s all I got.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The front-on view always gives me Jar Jar Binks vibes.

Gravatar

Second best space ship on Brickset today.

All UCS plaques are now printed. I think the first UCS set to do that was the Landspeeder.

Because it's in space and in space you have hard shadows (no clouds or light bouncing off of different things).

Gravatar
By in Germany,

A very pretty set, more so than the ISD, I think. Not the greatest fan of the TCW-style red bridge modules, but it still looks mighty fine. Fun too to see the tiny gunship build with cheese slope wings in an official set.

Gravatar

That last top down picture is gorgeous.

Lego please stop making massive sets. Please
They're cool right. But I got no where to display them

The bridge tower is a different shape, the paint scheme is different (both the red areas and the open circle symbols), two engines are missing, plus lots of smaller details.

Gravatar

It looks fantastic! I especially like the blue windows on the bridge for some reason.

Might want to look a little closer. The plaque _is_ printed.

@Jo3K3rr:
Yeah, it’s too bad you can’t just, you know, build it slightly different to look like the other version…

@WemWem:
I remember seeing a fake cutaway image of the Ep2 Jedi Starfighter that basically turned it into a miniature Star Destroyer, complete with a tiny Corellian Corvette trapped in the belly.

There's a few more changes. The superstructure between the the turbo laser turrets is different.

The hull plating is much more varied, with indents and recesses. It's smoother in the film, more like an ISD. The two pits in front of the Open Circle Fleet logo is bigger. In the film version they're deeper and narrower.

The hangar doors is biggest change. They're sloped in the show version. While they're flat in the movie. There's also a couple of grey boxy shapes on the top in the film. (Obi-Wan's is the only one with the small hangar doors.

Hull paneling is quite a bit different. The hangar doors are different. The placement of the Open Circle Fleet logo is different. The superstructure between the turbo laser turrets is different. The hangar doors are very different. They're sloped and have a center ridge. In the film they're flat.

Yeah you could. It would take bit. But I still would have liked to have seen the film version be used for the UCS model.

They could have incorporated the top side hangar doors opening, revealing the fighter and gunships bays down below. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/4/4b/VenatorHangar-OFNF.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20210714050006

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's honestly really weird seeing people already hating or rejecting the set because...it's from the Prequels / TCW?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ELbricker:
It wasn’t a leaked image last week. That was physical copies that got stocked to the shelf where customers could actually pick the box up. Leaked images are going to happen, but RLFM sites like Brickset won’t touch the images if they have a watermark, and will otherwise take them down if asked to. Once the sets are in public view, all bets are off.

@darthnorman:
That entirely depends on where you are in space. Near a star, sure. That light will overpower everything. Near a nebula? The light source is expansive, so you’re likely to get soft shadows. Behind a large object, or far between stars? There’s no strong light source, so no strong shadows. Between two large objects? You’ll probably get some bounce light, like we get under a full moon, so soft shadows again.

By in United States,

I like this tremendously. The Rex needs a waist cape. The rest of it needs a big sale or some fantastic, exclusive GWP.

Not having a photo of Rex, has got to be the dumbest promotional decision I can remember. Wow! Incompetence.

Are they trying to hide him?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The original version 497 / 928 looked way better. Light gray, blue and transparent yellow are much better colors.

And yet it looks like at least six stickers. Four 6x6 tiles and two 6x1x5 sloped bricks

Gravatar
By in Latvia,

That's a gorgeous ship. But, like with all other UCS sets, the price is scary and I'd have nowhere to put it even if I did build it, so I'll be skipping it.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Has there been any hint if there will be a limited gift-with-purchase item to go with the Venator? This will determine if I buy it in October or when I’ve found room in my store room.

They're not hiding him though? Rex is clearly there in the main photo of the whole set and stand. Besides the set is the Venator and not a CMF of Rex featuring a huge build to go with it

No crap. What planet are you from?

The current images include nothing that shows arm printing in any detail, or any of him in any detail.

People are a little curious. Phase II Captain Rex goes for more than $200 here on Earth.

Nah, Rivendell takes the cake. This is definitely best Star Wars set of the year though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Animated side of Star Wars puts me in a coma, I just can't get into it. Looks like there's enough of an audience though so there's that. So many other sets to spend $630+ in combination. Does look like a gorgeous set. UCS Anakin & Sebulba Podracers would be nice in the future if they ever entertain the Prequels again... doubtful.

I'm totally not a prequel fan but dang this set looks great, way more interesting than the ISD! Way out of my price range, as was the ISD, but this looks great!
