    Hello! I am a Concept Lead in The LEGO Group, for the Gaming team. This means I develop new opportunities for the LEGO group, such as new brands to partner with or new ways to play with our existing lines. Alongside our awesome team of talented designers I have created and developed LEGO Animal Crossing, LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog and led concept development for LEGO Super Mario sub-themes such as Donkey Kong and Mariokart. Before joining the Gaming team I had the same role for LEGO Friends. It’s a really interesting and varied role… every day there’s new challenges to solve!

Developing this new play theme was a real passion project for me! I grew up playing Nintendo games, so the opportunity to work directly with Nintendo was highly rewarding. The intention with this line is to encourage kids to customize and reconfigure their LEGO sets. Animal Crossing is all about being creative and seemed like a natural fit for the LEGO system. We have developed new elements such as the windows that make it really easy to swap parts around without requiring a total rebuilt. The use of jumper plates and the chunky ground plates are all there to make rearranging and experimentation very friendly.
As for Maple’s Pumpkin Garden, this was a rare opportunity for a Concept Lead to design a SKU. As well as having a unique figure, it’s a special polybag because there’s also a Japanese packaging version!

I was the Concept Lead for the series of Mariokart SKUs for LEGO Super Mario. This mainly consisted of creating sketch models of how the Karts could look with my Concept Team, sparring and pitching play ideas & potential SKUs with Nintendo and working out how we could best shoot turtle shells! We also worked closely with the Interaction Designers who are responsible for the awesome digital play side of this toy line… lots of cool innovation that I’m chuffed to have been a small part of!
