Official details of 1QY 2024 sets

Posted by ,

Dutch wholesaler Eldorado International has listed around 130 of next year's retail sets on its website, providing us with the first official details of what's in store during the first quarter of 2024, albeit without images.

I've added the information to our database and you can view 2024 sets that we have names for here.

Here are the highlights:

  • 10327 Dune Ornithopter: the awesome winged machine from the Dune film franchise will most likely be an 18+ Icons set
  • An addition to the Art series, 31211 Pair of Parrots
  • Small Botanical sets 40747 Daffodils and 40725 Cherry Blossoms
  • Technic space sets 42178 Surface Space Loader, 42180 Mars Exploration Rover and, perhaps most interestingly, 42179 Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit which presumably will be something of a rarity in the Technic lineup in that it won't have wheels or wings!
  • Five sets for an unknown IP which are rumoured to be -- hold on, we don't publish rumours so you'll have to Google the set numbers to find out.

The Star Wars sets for the first quarter of the year are confirmed as:

  • 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack
  • 75375 {unknown}
  • 75376 Midi-scale Tantive IV
  • 75378 Grogu's Escape
  • 75379 Buildable R2-D2
  • 75380 Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama
  • 75381 Buildable Droideka
  • 75384 Crimson Firehawk
  • 75387 Tantive IV Boarding Diorama

What are you most excited about?

By in Netherlands,

Not too excited about anything really...
I'm curious about the omnithopter (since I really liked Dune), the botanical sets are nice as presents (so I hope they are somewhat affordable), but the only set I see as one I would likelly buy is the Midi-scale Tantive IV. I sort of like midi-scale and I really like the Tantive IV....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Tantive IV Boarding Diorama Sound the most interesting. Hopefully including the storm trooper head bang?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice to see a return to some prequel stuff in the Boon Eve Podrace. Didn't think that I'd ever be saying that, but the further we get from those movies, (and perhaps the more the brand is diluted by recent stuff) the more my nostalgia grows for the prequels.

ANIMAL CROSSING! ANIMAL CROSSING!

HAPPY DANCE! HAPPY DANCE!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I guess I'm in the minority over the Dune set, as I didn't like the new movies. I much prefer the older 1984 David Lynch version, so I'm no excited for the Ornithopter.

As for the 'rumoured IP' sets, its not an IP I've got any interest in, but I can see how it'd be a big seller given its ready made fanbase.

Botanical sets will be interesting, especially the Cherry Blossom. The Technic sets, if the Earth and Moon one is an orbital armilary/astrolabe type thing, that'll be a fun build mechanically.

Or Nintendo Licensed Fabuland as we will call it. My daughter is hoping for Raymond but to be honest if there is no Lolly there is no deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Raymond at some point, I imagine the villagers chosen for mini figures will be the ones you always see in promos or toys: Stitches, Bob, Lucky, Fauna, Ankha, etc.

By in Netherlands,

I’ll be picking up a handful of those SW battle packs to army build, the Tantive Boarding for its epic scene, and Grogu’s escape to get a the new Jedi. Thanks for saving my wallet so in 2024 TLG.

Characters like Isabelle aren't really considered the same as villagers, they are "special characters", I wouldn't be surprised if Isabelle was in several different sets, each in a different outfit.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That's a whole lot of Ninjago mecha.

I imagine this is going to be a lot like the Nexo Knights, where the primary aspect of the line was that every character had a small personal mech suit (and you could combine and add extra weapons and such).

By in United Kingdom,

More daffodils. Why is the current set retiring so early? There are thousands of kinds of flowers, and already Lego are repeating themselves. Haven't gone for these single flower set, much prefer the bouquets. But the cherry blossom sounds good.

Nothing too excitin, so I can cathc up with ths year's sets in early 2024. See ya, 75384 !

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Cannot wait for the dune set!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit sounds interesting if it's done well and is presumably motorised.

I'm also liking the sound of the Pair of Parrots Art set and the Cherry Blossom should be good... so long as it's not just a tin of shoe polish!

Eh, with so many special characters and 400+ villagers, I would prefer to see as many different characters as possible and not just the Nooks and Isabelle in every other set.

There are a couple of fairly large sets in the list, so I'm thinking that quite a few characters will be included. One of the sets has to be the Town Hall.

Interesting City Space sets too by the sounds of things, "Space Rover with Aliens"! Lego City's first contact?

It's basically the identical set but in non 18+ branding so it fits with all the other small botanical sets on shelves in more colourful boxes.

Cherry Blossoms is a brand new set though :)

I Think that LEGO should do another Hanna-Barbera set with Jonny Quest, because next year will be his 60th birthday!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another expensive quarter for me then. No way am I passing on a Tantive IV.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m always excited for new Space sets, even if they’re under the City banner.

Space is Space.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm no Animal Crossing fan, but if they make a set with Tom Nook I might have to buy it just so I can have him gatekeep the houses in my collection

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Another R2 D2 ? Didn't they make one last year ?

Really curious to see the Ornithopter... I hope it's based on the one they used to escape and not the military model. I found its design much more interesting.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Let's see if 2024 will get Technic out of its 5 year rout.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The battle pack. Finally a battle pack that if rumors are true will contain two good sized factions to fight against each other.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I wanna see Buildable Droideka. I think that is the only machinery I loved from the prequals, that and the Amidala'a first starship.

For Grogu's Escape, do you think they'll give us a Jar Jar head so as to be able to choose which character we want Ahmed Best to portray?

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Somehow Fabuland returned

Jokes aside, very excited for Animal Crossing. I love the games and can't wait to see the figures. I imagine we getting CMF-like series with some individual villagers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not often I add a set to my wanted list without seeing at least one picture, but... when I saw the words "Midi-scale Tantive IV," I was hooked. I'm also interested in that buildable Droideka, here's hoping its wheel form will be doable. I didn't see Dune, but do like ornithopters, so I'll wait and see on that one. I didn't feel like looking at the whole list

@dickburns32 : Wrong scene. The head bonk was when the stormtroopers come into the control room where Artoo and Threepio are helping Luke and Co. via comlink.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've never been interested in Technic before but 42179 might change that for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm surprised there wasn't any Fortnite, as Lego and Fortnite are about to have a big collaboration in November.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really want the Lego Store set run by Tom Nook. He will have some good offers with GWP.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Only House Harkonnen will prevail

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I'll wait for more details before getting excited about any of them, but at least the Midi-scale Tantive IV sounds tempting, since that's my favorite scale for Star Wars ships.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hoped for something Midde-earth related. Alas.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Of everything listed, only midi-scale Tantive IV caught my attention.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These Friends sets seem quite promising as well. And at least one is set in space - Perhaps Olivia returning as an adult like Mia did?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@dickburns32 said:

The head bang was on the Death Star when the Stormtroopers entered the room where R2-D2 and C3-PO were.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It would be amazing if the buildable Droideka was essentially an updated rerelease of 8002 - I have a huge soft spot for those old Technic Star Wars sets and the Destroyer Droid is one of the best suited to that style - but I suppose that's pretty unlikely. We'll see, I guess.

Gravatar
By in United States,

MIDI-scale.. Midi-scale... now THAT's a name I've not heard in a long time... a long time.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm looking forward to the new battle pack, polybags, and cheap Ninjago and Dreamzzz sets. Although I still haven't picked up either of the last two clone battlepacks. I already have two old 501st packs, and a 332nd so I'm still on the fence if I really need more of them. I'm hoping the polybags are as good as this year's have been. Zane looks to be getting the microbuild rather than the Minifigure polybag unfortunately. I guess I can expect it to be Kai or Lloyd for the thousandth time. Some of the other polybags sound really good, like the space hoverbike.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As a massive Shock Trooper/Coruscant Guard fan who doesn't want to buy the gunship, I'm really hoping the Grogu's Escape set will be similar in style to 75324 , including 3~ Shock Troopers

Gravatar
By in United States,

THERE'S Knuckles!

Gravatar
By in United States,

So far none of these are must-haves for me (a relief to my poor bank account).

Of course, that could change depending on how some of these sets look, which minifigures are included, or how they're priced.

But like always, I'm happy for those folks who are excited!

It's a series of large objects made out of trees that are smashed, crushed to a pulp, bleached, pressed into incredibly thin sheets upon which old, hairless apes would print black ink figures. Your ancient forebears referred to them in strange guttural tones as 'booooooks'.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The space Technic sets sound really cool . . . can't wait to see pictures of them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm amused that the rumored theme had the name listed up until yesterday.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The midi Tantive IV is definitely the most exciting.

I'm also really curious about the Space items, but those are harder to look forward to without pictures or more detailed descriptions.

Gravatar

42158 42180

"This is getting out of hand; now there are two of them!"

Gravatar

I hope the boonta Eve Podrace diorama will have some new figs. But i am afraid it’ll be like the endor biker scout pursue.

Tantive stuff should be cool

Rumored Animal Crossing and Xmen sets are on my radar

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m definitely looking forward to the buildable Destroyer Droid and the battle pack maybe the midi-scale Falcon. Also I’ve heard that the Tantive IV boarding was rumored, according to Promobricks, to be like the Dark Trooper Attack.

The battle pack is supposed to include 3 Plain P2s and 1 Coruscant Guard so that might suffice. However,. I would expect Grogu's escape to include one or two sincel they'll already be in two sets. Since it's a $30 set, I don't know if I would expect more than two because that would put it at 5 figures(Beq, Grogu, 3 clones).

Technic Space, City Space, Creative Space Planets, Star Wars AND Dune?

Space/Sci-Fi fans are being spoilt for choice!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very interested in the Ornithopter.
And must gets for me, MIDI-scale Tantive and the boarding diorama.
Oh plus the Technic orrery.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm looking forward for the three Technic space sets and what looks like to be an orrery. There are apparently some funky 'space/UFO' sets coming in the City line as well.

And while all this is good, I'm always hoping for some interesting new parts and/or parts recolour - which means I'm open to any and all themes as a source of goodies.

I don't do much Star Wars (for space reasons - no space to put them really) but the destroyer droid might be too appealing to pass - we'll see, compared to 8002.

Lots of space sets everywhere!! (City, Classic, Technic, Creator, Friends, etc)

It'll be interesting to find out. Hopefully, they'll do something a little different to add to the variety of clones. The 501st were the ones trying to stop the escape with the CG pursuing afterward.

I don't remember any cool regimental officers involved in the scene. Nevertheless, perhaps they will use some artistic license to add someone.

It’s a model like the BD-1, R2, and probe droid that were released in the past years. I’ve heard it’s supposed to have something extra for it because there’s already the 18+ R2

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Animal Crossing sets, eh? Well, I'm no great Animal Crossing fan, although I did buy the Gamecube Animal Crossing game years ago. It's in my huge 'games to be played' pile (which is not a literal pile).

As I said in a comment about the Piranha Plant set, I think it's a massive missed opportunity that Lego have not yet acquired the rights from Nintendo for any Zelda sets. Come on, Lego. I want to see a large Hyrule Castle set with minifigures of Link and Zelda.

By the way, people are referring to the Earth and Moon set as an orrery. It's not an orrery. It's more like a tellurion than an orrery.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope that the ambulance and rescue helicopter announced for City are regular sets and not 4+. Been waiting on an ambulance that wasn't a GWP or a part of another set for ages now.

By in Spain,

I love that in this wave there is no sets that I would like to have a priori. Better for my wallet in times of economic inflation.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Animal Crossing sets would be a must-buy for me.

They seem pretty cheap based on the rumors (at least in USD) so that’s nice because I won’t be able to keep myself from buying them all before they retire.

I’m assuming the sets will be based on New Horizons, the newest AC game, but I still hope they make more sets based on the previous games of the series in the futrue.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@picopirate:
I like, and own copies of, the Lynch film (although that one did the absolute worst job of adapting the original text), the two Sci-Fi Channel miniseries, and the first half of the new adaptation. I don’t own any of them, but I’ve read all six of the original Frank Herbert books, but agree with a college friend’s assessment regarding the steep drop in quality after the first. And I played a borrowed copy of the first game. I know I’ve seen the second, but can’t remember if I actually played it or watched someone else doing it.

The IP certainly started out demonstrating the evolutionary progression from book to doorstop, but the set will almost certainly be based on the current movies.

By in Hungary,

I'm excited about all the sets with "Space" in their name, regardless of whether it's categorised under Creator, City, or Friends.

However, I'm specifically excited about these three sets:.

42605: Mars Space Base and Rocket - Olivia returns in a new Friends Space set! Yay!

60418: Police Truck with Laboratory - I've always loved mobile command centers / labs, I'm interested to see this one

75381: Buildable Droideka - As everyone else, I loved 8002 back in the day, so I'm quite interested in the new version.

Midi-scale is a non-minifig scale for smaller but detailed models of larger ships, which up until now only had two entries from way back in 2009 and 2010: https://brickset.com/sets?query=midi-scale although I would also include 77904-1 as an unofficial entry in the series.

7778-1 was actually the one that brought me out of my dark ages and into full AFOL status.

There’s also an intentional reference to the original, in Ep2, when Jango clongs his helmet on the tail structure of Slave I while walking up the boarding ramp.

Arrakis - Dune - Lego Planet? Now there's an IP I never thought I would see on Lego's radar or in their production pipeline [and I am assuming it will be a Villeneuve one not a Lynch one]. Definitely intrigued to see what that will look like (and the attendant cost). A space heavy mix for Q124 with Dune, Star Wars and Lego's more classic theme's - and my wallet will not thank me but the Lego must flow...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I am also a big fan of Lynch's sumptuous and, well, Lynchian take on Dune, I saw it when it first came out and it has stayed with me [in various formats - and edits] over the years but I really enjoyed Villeneuve's Part 1. It hit various beats from the book which just worked [for me] and I am looking forward to Part 2. A Lego ornithopter could be some interesting (sp)icing on the cake. What chance a wee Lego Muad'Dib to go with it?
