I doubt I'll end up buying it, but I love the sheer size of it. It looks like there's a tonne of internal room because the back of the ship is so high. I love it.
Looks Awesome:D,too bad it costs so much :(
Is there anymore news regarding the New York toy fair?, I really want to see the Ultra Agents and Chima sets;)
I love Benny!! I am so getting one!!! but probably in his Spaceship set
Awesome! This set looks incredibly huge and a must buy for me. TLG is setting a new standard for itself when it comes to the level of detailing.
Ghostbusters set announced with pictures: http://tinyurl.com/o78vh8d
Shame Benny looks so new and shiny! I was wondering how they'd tackle his weathering and it seems they haven't bothered.
I was really excited when you said there were 45 pics... until I found....
All ten box prints were duplicates, four marginally different views of the front and one of the back, all twice!
There are three close up pics of a 'cannonball' at different angles, two of a flick-fire missile, and three identical pictures of a net!
And at least one of the micro-manager photos has just been rotated.
There's still 20 something, maybe 30 that are great, but 45 is overselling it somewhat.
I guess they're all from the Lego website, but I'd say it'd be worth sifting them a little! ;)
Queasy kitty... Must have been cut from the movie?
Looks amazing, although very wacky like most of the Movie sets.
But I love it - definite buy!
The pictures of the new cuusoo ghostbusters looks very sweet as well, thanks Rtboh!
Huw, I think somebody somewhere's making mistakes- there's a grand total of 4 box shots, 4 box image pics, two back-of-the-box shots, 3 pics of the round 1x1 used as shot, and three pics of the net. Is there any way to get rid of all the duplicate images?
After seeing the movie my lad has decided he wants the movie sets and I was very worried this was going to come in at the £250 mark so am pleasantly surprised at the price, getting a lot of Lego there at the price point, looking like a definite purchase from me
There is a massive discrepancy between the GBP price and EUR price. £170 should be around €210!!! Is this a conversion fault?!? Hope so, otherwise I'll be buying mine in the UK!
@zipsforbananas, they were what LEGO sent with the press release.
@legopants, I thought that as well. It'll probably be £199 when it hits LEGO.com.
^I thought they might have been. Silly Lego, sending so many pointless pictures! :)
QueasyKitty was shown briefyly when floating in the water in the couch. Blink and you'll miss it.
I seriously wonder who this set is aimed at. Because that's a lot of money for a very silly ship.
Designer Video is now on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNjz7Q2isQk
I am considering this. I also really need a yearly lego budget.... $1100 is not to bad but in 3 months? yeah...
Spectacular. I may just have to skip all other sets I want to get and just buy this.
At 2:50 in the video, Benny has a broken chinstrap and weathered chest pattern. Briliant! A new headgear piece that is intended to be broken and a new torso print that is meant to look weathered; I wonder how popular they will be.
Was that an official unveiling? That's very strange. This set was on the shelves in my local toy shop last Monday! I studied it up close and found out that it wasn't for me, but it's a funny looking thing.
Between the Sea Cow, SPACESHIP and the new Trains... my LEGO budget for the year just imploded.
AND I DON'T CARE.
45 images?! Wow...
This thing is huge and monstrous, but quite beautiful anyway, like a steampunk tower with solid sails. Funny that it includes Emmet's 'invention' - I mean this sofa, I've only seen trailers since the Movie isn't out in Russia yet)
Yeah, I love that the double-decker couch is included.
Just go back from my local LEGO shop. This is just breathtaking in person, they have it on display there. I ordered one on LEGO.com but picked one up in the store cause I couldn't waitron have it. (Had to cancel LEGO.com order)
IMO this is the most beautiful set ever made, the details can't be compared to anything I've ever seen. The technic sails also make it a great set so we won't have to worry about the fabric ones creasing and fading. I feel the price is also fair for the pice count.
300 for Canadians, avast me hearties this be lookin' a bit tricky to save up for. And since you can only get it through LEGO there's really not much in the way of options for discount sales. Not that I'd wait for a sale if I had that kind of cash lying around for this, this set is just a must own for fans of the movie. But still, it's a bit pricey for a set this size considering that Arkham Asylum and the Simpson's House are nowhere near as expensive as this sucker and they have similar piece counts. (Not identical, though similar)
My guess is that the largest sets are priced not by piece count, but by weight of plastic - which means, since any Lego ship contains several very large and heavy pieces, they are always going to seem more expensive, measured by price-per-piece, than houses, modular buildings, or even (especially?) large technic sets with all those pins and axles!
This set is my top priority on my wanted list. When I saw pictures of this set for the first time, I was shocked at how great it looked.
I'm always happy to see large models, but as a diehard Pirates fan, an intentionally goofy-looking 2700 piece ship like this feels like an agonizingly swift kick to the crotch.
@srlz: I share your pain...a 2700-piece 'serious' pirate ship would have been amazing... However several people have said this looks more impressive in the flesh, so to speak, so it may still be worth considering.
While the build shown is certainly goofy-looking, I think this set could also make be made into a superb conventional pirate ship (with enough left over for something small but intensely steampunk). I certainly plan to try!
Sweet set (a double-decker couch so everyone can be buddies!), but that pricey...maybe if it gets discounted down the line.
hi afols
