Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 6

Posted by ,

A second excellent minifigure arrived yesterday and I hope today's item maintains the standard, maybe originating from another of Hogsmeade's many shops.

Find out below...

Zonko's Joke Shop is mentioned several times in The Prisoner of Azkaban and I suspect these wands and fireworks originate from there. The fireworks are nicely constructed in Gryffindor and Slytherin colours and look marvellous, while the trans-yellow and trans-pink wands could serve as novelty wands or sparklers. However, the vibrant red and yellow base looks odd in isolation, so I hope some matching furniture arrives soon.

Overall - Today's model contains a great selection of elements and looks nice, with my favourite feature being the Gryffindor and Slytherin-themed fireworks.

Having not opened this yet (HP is for my daughter, and she's still away at school), I imagine you have almost enough spare parts for some extra fireworks. I love when that happens.

By in Germany,

They're fireworks, but they're also combat clubs. Wizards just don't get muggle stuff.

And I thought it was beer pumps at the Three Broomsticks ??

Weird that the dark-green plates are Apollo studs, when the rest are all regular. I haven’t peeked at the inventory to see if this is due to them showing up on another day, or if it’s just a case of them being in production for some other set.

Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw get no love.

If you didn't tell me those are fireworks I wouldn't have registered them as such.
Those wands look like firework explosions too.

Well, this Shire theme continues with Bilbo's farewell party, apparently.

They never do. On the other hand, they also never get persistently slapped down the way Slytherin always does.

“My House trait is courage. What’s yours?”
“Always snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.”

Correct! You don’t quite get the parts to make an exact copy of either firework in this door but I had an extra goldmine from an earlier door to make a second Gryffindor one

Okay but did I miss something lol how do you know what they are? Do we have instructions on how to build somewhere that I missed? Are you just a Lego/HP genius? Forgive me I’m a n00b and made this account just to ask haha. Grateful for the posts because that’s the only way we’re putting our calendar together!

Frankly, it looks to me like a Harry Potter-themed weapons rack. Why does this seem more festive than it would in a SW Advent calendar?

@Lauraaaroses:
When you open the little door, as much instructions as they'll give you will be located on the back of the door. Alternately, you can look up this set in the instructions database on LEGO.com, but you risk spoiling the rest of the calendar. And you won't get anything more than what's shown on the back of each door, just all in one giant spread.

@sklamb:
Fireworks and sparklers, instead of guns and laser swords.
