Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 7

Posted by ,

I was fairly satisfied with yesterday's colourful item from Zonko's Joke Shop, but I mentioned that its vibrant colour scheme seemed strange without any matching furniture.

Hopefully today will yield something to match...

A few more items from Zonko's are found behind door number seven, displayed on a yellow and red cart. This does indeed complement the rack from yesterday and I like the 1x2 plates forming boxes inside. However, only the colours actually communicate that the past two models originate from Zonko's Joke Shop and I think LEGO needs to consider how such information is conveyed in future Advent Calendars.

Overall - This cart looks quite nice and features some interesting parts, but is most useful as a companion to the rack from day six.

I was confused cos I thought it was the trolley from the Hogwarts Express, but that wouldn't make sense in a Hogsmeade setting.

Thanks for your article!

I think it would be great if you end each new article of this calendar with a photo of every buld so far.

have a great day!

My calendar is really messed up - I received Hermione yesterday. This is the 2nd time I have gotten the wrong item.

I now am wondering if I am going to get duplicate items later in the month or the bags were just placed in the wrong box.

I like that the builds for each business are color-coordinated, but I feel like this could use more yellow to really tie it to yesterday's build. To me, it looks better after replacing the three red 1x2 plates with yellow ones to match the handle.

On the inside of the door it is printed where the builds need to go on the play mat!

I'll pass on the Puking Pastilles, thanks.

If you’ve only gotten two mixed up, and were seven days in, then it’s not a case of the tray being rotated 180°, unfortunately. That would be an easy fix, if it was.

@Casper_van_hobbes:
Is that why the inside of the tabs are colored? Honestly, I store all the models inside the case each year. I don’t pull down the playmat, and I don’t open the doors. Starting this year, I’m not even opening the bags, since the trashy cardboard trays can’t keep small parts contained (heck, they can’t even keep bags of parts behind the right door).

So I think I just broke the comment section on https://brickset.com/article/102329/star-wars-advent-calendar-day-7

I replied to @CapnRex101 's comment, but then when I went to edit it, things got funny with a link, then I deleted my comment, and now his comment encompasses the textbox.
It looks like this now: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/816847169734311996/1182390373167943700/image.png?ex=658485d8&is=657210d8&hm=7c136316bed64382d5a416e01faa44dae4a9775062bbd115cbd78828ea6c1df1&=&format=webp&quality=lossless&width=635&height=577
I don't know how I broke it exactly, but suffice to say, I'm sorry to anyone trying to comment on Star Wars Day 7.

That's fine. Day 7 will just be... "Starry Potwars"-day?"

It's fixed!

Links _ALWAYS_ get messed up when you edit a comment. That includes the at-tag when you respond to someone. Copy the comment, then open the editor, then select all, _PASTE_, and finally edit your text before saving. Or write it out in a text editor, and you’ll already have a copied version stored in your clipboard when you go to edit.

I thought I had opened the City or Friends page by mistake.

@PurpleDave: Yeah, when I edit a comment that has @ tags, set numbers, or external links, I always try to make sure to delete the A HREF HTML tags before posting the edited comment.

Hmm, Zonko's. I forgot about that shop. I figured the other shop was for ice cream, but it's a bit chilly for that.

@TheOtherMike:
I used to do that, but then if you miss one, you _really_ break it when you edit it a second time. Plus, you’re having to re-fix all the ones you already fixed. Far simpler to just copy the posted text, then paste, then edit that.

Oh I know things get messed up when you edit, but I must have done something right away that messed things up because that's why I needed to edit it, but it was only making things worse. Then when I deleted my comment, everything just fell apart. I can't explain it.

There used to be a problem where, if you quoted someone, and you deleted the back half of the quote, and you didn't retain the end-quote tags, or replace them, you'd cause the entire page to crash for anyone who tried to load it once you actually saved the edit. @Huw would then have to go in and delete your message manually. He made a change that auto-fixes the missing end-quote tag, so maybe deleting the message caused something to remain behind that glitched.

I think what it was, was that CapnRex101 ended his comment with a link, the brackets tacked onto it, and because I try not to have so much extra space between a quote and my reply, they somehow touched, and it got all wacky. And then yeah, when I deleted the comment, something hung around that shouldn't have. Thankfully it was fixed fairly quickly and Cap even reposted his comment, and then I could reattempt to make my funi, which has resonated with a whole 3 people. The dopamine rush is incredible...
