Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 22

Posted by ,

An excellent Draco Malfoy minifigure emerged yesterday, although I am struggling to think of something suitable to accompany the character on the next day, which has been the pattern of this Advent Calendar.

Today's item is therefore a mystery...

Part of me wishes it had remained that way, as today we receive a bench. This model could best be described as bland, but the snowdrifts look nice, at least. I would have liked to see something more creative, such as a microscale rendition of the Shrieking Shack, which could work in forced perspective to recreate Ron and Hermione looking at the mysterious house in the distance.

Overall - There is nothing necessarily wrong with this model, but it is dull.

Yeah was slightly disappointed to see this one; not exactly what I’d call “end of the calendar” quality

Yippee. Outdoor bench to go with the indoor bench we got on the 14th.

Don't forget the table with chairs! Not to be confused with the table without chairs, but butterbeer! Or the table with a panel that slots the tip of feet! Or the table with sweets! Or the other table with sweets!

Riveting stuff!

^ There has been a weird obsession with furniture, this year. It was mostly in the Marvel calendar, but it seems to have seeped into the other calendars.

That would be the indoor bench.

Exactly. For those of us who remember, this was an iconic moment. When Harry first turns extremely violent (not just blowing up an aunt).

I may be a bit too forgiving of HPAC. Yet, to paraphrase @PurpleDave , the builds create a coherent scene and are direct additions to a part (in this case, Hogsmeade) of a HP layout.

Good pieces, prints, HATS, and it all works together.

I'm not embarrassed to add any of this to my Wizarding World.

I would be sad and even ashamed if my child impatiently opened her AC and found this behind the lid. Very, very poor gift in my opinion. Or... I start to wonder if eventually my expectations are not far too high from a 30 euros Lego AC ?

I actually looked up Day 14 as I wrote my original comment and I assumed the day number was incorrect. There's a bottle. And there's a candle on it! Who would sit on a piece of furniture with a candle right next to them?!
So I thought you referred to something else at the time.

Here it is again:

Also, the previous, clear tables like that round one have been about as high as that build too. Of course, we get something of equal height today, but all that says is that things aren't too consistent. Maybe stuff outside is a bit higher for the snow?

I know, I just picked a very weird and pedantic hill to die on... XD

@StyleCounselor I didn't realize this was connected to that scene. Cool! Maybe I should give the 3rd film a rewatch someday

Lego advent calendars (from all themes) have ALWAYS been excellent teaching tools to show children the unjustified nature of their impatient excitement and to crush the silly nature of their ambitious joy.

Current HP and SW calendars are arguably the best we've ever had.

@Binnekamp:
I had it cataloged as "Indoor Bench" in my notes, but I may have done that before realizing that feet won't fit into the Friends panel.

By in Australia,

Our family has the calendars for Marvel, Star Wars and Harry Potter.
This has not been a good year for the Harry Potter one, has really lacked creativity and imagination.
Heading for a 5 out of 10 and that is being generous.

It's one of the better ones. Definitely the first one of the series to take a less childish tone.

It should have been a rock.

While the bench is a bit underwhelming I prefer it to many of the micro or nano builds we've gotten in the past.

The bench was terrible, but overall I think this is one of the best HP Advent calendars ever. Each day builds on the previous day and tells a coherent story.
