By in United States,

Whoa! Creator design team is killing it and the new space subtheme looks like so much fun! Lots of affordable stuff too. 2024 shaping up to be a banger already :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very strange to me that these Space sets still have City branding on them. Feels closer to something like Life On Mars than the NASA sets. Not that I'm complaining, mind you! Great to have Space back, even if it says "City" on the box for some reason.

My wallet cries.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So what's with the Space branding on all of the space related sets? Besides the obvious fact they're related to the genre of Space, it's on a bunch of sets scattered across multiple themes, so far Technic, City, and Creator.

I'll make the assumption we'll see this space branding on other themes, perhaps Friends or Classic, but is there something in Space this 2024 that I'm missing out on?

Also the Creator sets are so charming and adorable. I love it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is it just me, or is that a new color for all of the canopies in the Space sets? It looks lighter than the new Trans Black, but definitely seems to be tinted, so not Transparent.

Gravatar
By in United States,

PINK TIRES and REDDISH ORANGE

City really seems to just be the return of System now, with how it’s been expanding its subthemes.

And grey tires in the Technic Space sets!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Some great sets. Love the giraffe. Three wide helicopter a great nod to 1970’s Lego.

Gravatar
By in United Arab Emirates,

Those space sets are excellent! And the colours seem to match the Galaxy Squad colours although these alien lifeforms seem way friendlier than the 'space bugs' of GS.
Perhaps they are not quite as innocent as they seem though...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I feel like we're really pushing the term "City" as a brand to breaking point, here, with a stack of clearly sci-fi sets under that name.

Love the Creator sets, though. That Red Dragon is cute.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So the City - Space theme is just full sci-fi now? I'm all for it, finally getting some new lego sci-fi that isn't Star Wars is refreshing!

Gravatar
By in United States,

whoever designed 31146 must have played with 5590 :P i love it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

...are we seeing a prequel series to Classic Space?

Does 60434, a small base with a launch pad and a rover, become 6970 in its future?

Gravatar
By in United States,

'City' Space reminds me keenly of Mars Mission, albeit with infinitely less cool aliens. Some other themes as well; very glad they're diverging from a stricter adherence to reality in their models, it'll add a lot of life to the line. It's got me interested at the least, and I've been out of City for a good while.
At the very least it should be a good test for whether general audiences are willing to grab the older classic evergreen lines again.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Space Rover set reminds me of that giant vehicle in Mass Effect that I always wound up driving off a cliff for some reason.

For real though, these look pretty good! I think that the new City sets definitely keep the spirit of Classic Space alive with a focus on exploration and research. Also, whoever are behind the Creator sets, keep doing what ya'll are doing!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The giraffe looks fantastic!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Some absolutely fantastic sets here, colourful, beautiful and fun.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So they did not select Legotruman’s Ideas Astronaut in 2021, but then made a much worse, poorly proportioned, version?!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh, very nice! The Creator team is really the tops! The giraffe, camera, and peacock are terrific! Those space sets are very cool and dare I say it “creative”, ha ha!

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Interesting to see that there is no minifig in the creator sets.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Creator proves its best theme still.
Love that goofy dragon <3

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Wow, Lego is really getting into the space vibes for 2024. They're all awesomely designed but I won't be getting any of these.

It's an anniversary year for Lego space. Somebody more knowledgeable than I will give you better information, but I believe it is the 50th anniversary for space sets(not classic space, but space as a whole). We have yet to see the supposed space themed CMF and Friends sets that will be joining the current space anniversary lineup.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Pretty much perfect the lot of them.

Gravatar
By in Bulgaria,

The device the green astronaut from 60432 is holding reminds me of the scanner from Subnautica. Finally some decent sci-fi space sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I may not understand the branding, but I'm happy to see this happening. This is refreshingly open-ended sci-fi, and I hope children respond to it. The world needs more imagination right now. The Wall Street Journal ran a long article last week about how Lego wants to move away from the heavy reliance it has developed on external IP. The article focused on Dreamzzz, but this is obviously in the same vein, just not quite so far-out. It looks fun!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Creator rocks this year!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh dang, I want that space station. I’ve already got 60227 and 60349 and had fun combining them, giving me a whole ring of modular options sounds amazing

Gravatar
By in United States,

Goodness gracious, the creator line is popping off! Loving the brilliant colors, cute designs and the lifelike giraffe. They knocked it out of the park this time around.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I still haven't built the previous Space sets and there already are new ones coming. But boy, do they look great.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The 3-in-1s are superb. There's normally some really good ones, but I can see myself getting all of these.... 2 or 3 of most of them!

Gravatar
By in United States,

All these look great!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I don't understand the reasoning for the branding either, but I'm not complaining.
Classic Space started in 1979, so it's 45 years in 2024. Otoh there were a few space sets before CS, but those were before my time and I can't remember when the first one came out (or what it was). I remember seeing a very crude blue version of the moon lander somewhere, but that's about it.

As for the sets being under the City brand, I'm on the fence too. On the one hand Classic Space came under the LEGOLAND theme/branding that also included Castle, Pirates and the precursor to City.
On the other hand these new sets feel more like a separate SciFi theme like Mars Mission or other later iterations of LEGO space themes.

Anyhow, some really nice looking sets among this selection, and even more so in the Creator 3in1 series. Will get several of those, my favourite at the moment being the roller skate.

Gravatar
By in Slovenia,

@northrop said:

and/or 5571

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Oh my, these space sets. I'm not sure I like the transition from near reality to sci fi, but I'm in love with all the vehicles. I'm glad too that the sets are oriented for exploration and research and not for conflict.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just as a pure personal opinion on the lego city space sets when it comes to the aesthetics. Since they're doing big winks and nods to classic space, I wish they used a mostly light grey and blue color scheme. I feel the white, black, and orange color scheme clashes with the more grounded side of the lego city space sets that are more meant to be centered around reality. This would kinda separate them a bit as this take on lego city space is clearly more fantastical.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think LEGO are knocking it out the park with these 3-in-1 sets! The dragon, the giraffe, camera, astronaut, roller skate, peacock… all look excellent.

The City Space ones look pretty good too! Excited for all of these.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That absolutely has to be the best wave of Creator sets there's ever been? What a stunning collection of sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

60443 is going to be repurposed into a little Endurance from Interstellar.
Impossible?
No, necessary!!

Also, the return of the metal detector in space themes!!!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I might pick up one or two creator sets. A few look quite good.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The rovers look fantastic, gotta say I really love the design language this year. I never really buy City sets, but some of these do look tempting.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Every single one of those Creator sets looks pretty darn great, will probably pick up several of those. Especially that Space Astronaut is a 100% buy, but the Red Dragon is also cute as heck. For 31155 I'll wait for the review by Sariel, the true expert on this matter.
(Too bad he has to pay for his review sets now, sad that Lego can't handle criticism....)

City Space stuff looks fine too, and interesting to see the Space subtheme combined with other themes. Next also some Duplo Space and Friends Space?

EDIT: Friends Space already spotted....now only Duplo Space.....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The flatbed truck looks like a mini version of the model team set. Hamster is cute!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm glad they clarified that 31152 is a Space Astronaut.

Otherwise, some pretty cool sets but not a huge amount I can justify or have room for. I do like space though, and I'd like to see more sets go this way.

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Where are the city sets ???????

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I think the customer in the unpictured Burger Van 60404 may have a cochlear implant.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Oh boy, 2024 will be an expensive year for me. I like them ALL!
CREATOR is doing everything right and Space in City is always a plus.

Gravatar
By in United States,

HOLY FAR OUT SPACE NUTS!

Someone needs to tell Warner Bros. Discovery Animation, Toei Animation, LEGO Studios, and Cartoon Network to do a LEGO CITY Space adventure series right now!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Out of all of them I like 30663 hover bike thing the most. But I am still in shock over the GOAT!

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

I like 31150 Wild Safari Animals the most

Well Artemis going to the moon would be 2024/2025 I think but has been getting pushed back. Maybe that's why? I think it was 2024 for flyby and 2025 for landing but it looks like the flyby won't be until 2025.

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

They are all beautiful! Kudos to Lego designers!

Can anyone tell me whether set 60431 and 60432 have plastic wheels the size of the Mega Core Magnetizer 6989?
That would make these even better!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’ve never been so excited for Creator sets

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

That Creator truck is a tribute to LEGO MODEL TEAM 5571 and 5590 combined :)

Gravatar
By in Poland,

31146 has some Model Team vibes. Looks like mix of 5571 and 5590.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

31152 looks like ripped off Ideas rejected 10k set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I am sorry but to put the Classic Space emblem on these abominations is an insult.

Easy pass on this lot.

Gravatar
By in Romania,

It's not quite the space theme I am looking for, however it's good. Depends how many of the fancy design elements are prints and how many are stickers, but I love what I am seeing so far. If they do that blacktron ship that was rumored and a space police later on these are the perfect civilians (modernized and ready to be saved or looted).

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Alright! A proper Space theme that feels like a great spiritual successor to Classic Space. I will def keep my eyes out for these sets when I go to the store next time.

Gravatar
By in Romania,

I think they are trying to crosspollinate their in house themes. The space Logo is on a creator set as well as a dreams set (mr.. Ozz's space car - really good set that would fit right in this as a space police 3 ship / car). I wouldn't be surprised they would stick space on those space monkey kid sets they released 2 or so years ago if they would have released them now. It's a good move. I see you're a fan of space. You don't like dreams I see, here's a space set in dreams - go buy it, maybe you like it and come back for more. I am sure this is a marketing strategy - and I honestly love it. They are doing something I like for once. Can't wait to see the castle crossover.

There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He's told us not to blow it
'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
And he told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie

Gravatar

60430 is an almost a perfect Delta Flyer from Star Trek Voyager.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

31146 is a great nod to Model Team, amazing wave of creator sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It's not classic space, but it's space!

I just hope for a 6929 rebuild.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Wow! This years' Creator sets are just gorgeous!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The space station is the closest thing we'll ever get to a 2014 Interstellar set.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

@MVives said:
"My wallet cries."

Same with the space City sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow. So the rumors about 2024 City sets including aliens was true.
The builds look awesome though. They kinda give me Galaxy Squad vibes

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Giraffe and Peacock are outstanding!

most of the space sets are also pretty cool, kids are gonna love those

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Damn that's gotta be the most solid line-up of Creator sets ever. Usually there's a few that I like and want/buy but these are almost all absolute must-haves. Wow!

Really digging the City Space sets too, though it's a bit weird that they fall under the City line since they're more fantastical and sci-fi than realistic (which is usually what I associate with City sets).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Am I dreaming?!?

These Space sets look incredible! I’m so excited to get them!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Stunning sets. Best collection of the three in one's I have seen in a long time. Might end up buying multiple of each. Like the astronaut very much!!!!

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

I liked the Space sets, not gonna lie, will probably buy them. But as I expected they did took the Nasa-inspired realistic vibe to them, not the original very sci-fi vibe from the Space subthemes. They could have made some sets inspired by some of the classics too, would be great.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The creator sets look visually appealing, another winning streak for one of legos better themes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey, cool, another Vic Viper- type ship.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Jeez, all the 3 in 1s are pretty much stunning, but the giraffe and the spaceman are instabuys for me. What a great... set of sets all around, though.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I think I might end up get six of the creator sets this year lol

Gravatar
By in United States,

@vizzitor said:

I think you're right.

I love the Creator sets and will probably end up with most (all?) of them and multiples of some. As much as I love Classic Space, will probably be giving these space sets a pass. Most of the Technic ones as well.

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

31146 is based on the old model team set.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

City Space is actually really good, classic space vibes with a modern take!

3 in 1 are killing it, best line up in recent years!

Excited for both, finally some cool non $400 sets :)

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I like the robot in 60432, and it's easy to build with spare parts.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can't be the only one getting a Futuron vibe from City Space, am I?

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Ok, this is SERIOUSLY impressive. Wow.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice touch! The retro camera includes photos of all the other Creator sets in this lineup.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As I understand it, LEGO designs and initiatives are years in development. I therefore think it’s pretty silly to claim they rip off failed Ideas submissions. Wouldn’t it be possible that they failed those submissions because they were too close to sets or themes already in the works?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow creator 3 in 1 is killing it!

What the second build in the guitar set supposed to be?

Gravatar
By in United States,

So is Space back?? Can we say Space is back? Sure feels like it!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Although I like the City Space sets (although I really am getting sick of everything having to be City)
That mech I would buy as soon as I come across it.

I am however not digging Creator at all.
Is it just me or are they turning Creator into a smaller-sized Icons range? These are just objects and animals, and maybe one large figure build if you're generous. The only odd one out is the helicopter truck. The theme always had builds of objects and animals, but the variety here feels off. All of these are just super detailed display sets. There's no minifigure scale stuff (and yes, Creator used to do minifig scale stuff even before the figs themselves became common in the theme). And there's no buildings either.
Are we missing sets from the theme or something?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@legoapprentice said:
"Wow creator 3 in 1 is killing it!

Surfboard standing on end plus a radio I think.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Creator 3-1 continues to be the best theme. Will definitely get the camera, giraffe and astronaut. The astronaut's legs look skinny though, guess they've been in space a long time.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Another nod for the 3-in-1's. I'm starting to look as much forward to these releases as my minidoll ones :D (P.S. The Peacock - how beautiful!)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

And, unfortunately, that's the closest we'll ever get to sets based on Interstellar. :o(

Gravatar
By in United States,

31150 Wild Safari Animals is going to be at least a 6x purchase for me - all alt builds are just as fantastic, and that lion will need more than one gazelle to hunt!

Gonna see if I can also mod a couple lions into lionesses, and attempt to add a new-born giraffe to complete the scene!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

these creator sets absolutely whup it. they're really going in on the "model kit" vibes!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is it just me, or is the creative team at LEGO trying to revive the Space theme through the back door here?

Gravatar
By in United States,

60434 reminds me of a more fleshed out version of one of my favorite sets: 6899
