SPACE CAT IN THIS ECONOMY?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Wow! 3 different Friends goats? Also, why can the chicken be the same as in City set but not the other animals?

Everyone knows you have to be fit for space travel. That chubby space cat is so unrealistic. :))

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Aliens and new animals to mutilate.
But many great parts and now I want some hot chocolate 42606

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

LEGO city is falling down falling down falling down XD

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Finally, the real brains behind all of the Heartlake operations is available in a set: Space Cat!

I can't quite figure out what the animal is in 42603 that looks a bit like some droppings or a squashed hedgehog.

By in Netherlands,

I am glad to see the demise of virbrant coral and neon yellow have been exaggegrated. Also, I am totally gonna dock that Friends spaceship to my Technic Dropship.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

That little Piaggio Ape is really cute!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is…is that a sentient croissant with legs? Didn’t escape from the Sistar System from TLM2?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Friends remains the theme with the highest ratio of winning designs. It's a shame I don't actually want to buy any of them, but practically all the buildings are fantastic, and damned cute at the same time.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

When they released the space shuttle, I made a joke at the time that the friends sets in the future should include mostly normal sets and then one set with Olivia getting further and further away from Earth each time.

And now they MADE IT.

I couldn't be happier. Fingers crossed for Olivia in the oort cloud within the next decade.

By in Australia,

Some of these sets are a lot cuter than I expected them to be.

But, seriously, the Friends kids have gone ... to Mars? And met an alien? And taken Grumpy Cat, in an accompanying astronaut suit? I just cannot decide which is the weirdest part of that.

I like the star-gazing vehicle, I just don't think I'd like to drive out into the deserted wilderness, alongside Nova, to a remote location where nobody can hear my screams for help.

Also, maybe one of you brilliant peeps can tell me. In terms of the little mobile hot chocolate stand ... what's the mascot? The little chocolate-coloured thing with two feet. I don't understand what I'm looking at, here.

By in United Kingdom,

AFOLS: So how many 2024 themes have Space sets?

LEGO: Yes.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Wait ... is that a talking croissant with legs and a rudimentary chef's hat?

o_O

Lord help me, they've found a way to make croissants unappealing.

Gravatar
By in Romania,

These Friends sets get better and better every release since last year. I love the space set (only beef is that they don't have light blue tinted round canopies.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Love the old tractor! And the Australian-style windmill is great to see, although it would be better with grey paddle pieces.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That stargazing set is pretty inspired. And I love the space cat.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

What is the mascot with the coffee cart?

No, longer.

I still don't trust Nova, and it hasn't escaped my notice that she's drunk out of her skull in that karaoke-set, but right now I'm more concerned over the fact that this Kaya-character is working at both an animal-sanctuary AND the hotdog-stand. Hmm."

For sure I would love to see an animated Space cross-over that includes multiple Lego IP's.
They could even use the Space exhibit in the modular museum in a scene.

What are the odds though?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gah!!! That thing in the Mobile Cafe belongs in the Unikitty show, not Friends

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

The Mobile Café mascot is my sleep paralysis monster.

Gravatar
By in United States,

SPACE KITTY!!! Also find the Alaska flag set interesting...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like the idea of 42603 Stargazing Camping Vehicle, I just wish the star backdrop didn't make it look like they were just looking at a picture someone stood up instead of the actual sky, but I'm not sure of a way to make that better.

I really like 42633 Hot Dog Truck, because I love Lego food trucks for some reason. I'm very saddened by it being a 4+ set though, because that means the price is going to be rediculous.

Poor Paisley, she's listed as being in 42619 Pop Star Tour Bus, but she's so shy that she doesn't actually appear to be in the set itself anywhere!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love the Space crossover, what a great idea to introduce different themes to different people!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love that the new Friends goat looks normal and comes in 2 realistic colors. Typically the Friends animals look too cartoony for my liking, so this *other* new goat is a pleasant surprise.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I love the space base set and that new cat element in the space suit is just awesome to see.

Gravatar
By in France,

Therapist : The croissant mascot isn't real, it can't hurt you
42606 : ...

Gravatar
By in Poland,

As usuall, friends came and blew away any other theme.
Farm sets are ALL amazing, love the use of yellow birds as chicks

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Are the leaves (like the bunch of them together) a new piece?

The two houses set is so nice. Very stylish suburban work. I like the right one best, but maybe that's because of the colors.

Yes, the leaf bunch elements are new for 2024! I believe we have seen them in three colors, dark green, lime green, and lavender. There is also a new 2x2 fern element found in the Friend's mansion that is not here for some reason.

By in New Zealand,

My favourite is 42606 Mobile Cafe, The second is 42620 Olly's and Paisley's Family Homes. The rest seem pretty boring and similar to previous builds in the friends theme.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

hooray friends..............

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I feel underwhelmed.

2023 Friends brought in a whole new slate of characters, and really creative sets. I mean like the whole lineup seemed awesome. Money was my limiting factor in getting all of them. So far the 2024 Reveal just seems meh. Most of the designs seem iterative of better past Friends sets. The Toyota euphemism of "decontenting" comes to mind.

If they are going to continue their practice of Reusing the same Main Characters, I have less of an incentive once I have them. Maybe include a couple of extra Heads and Hair pieces so I can make my own generic characters.

On the bright side, I'll be saving money in 2024. Thanks Lego!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If the Friends, Technic and City Space sets can all be joined together to the space station, that’s pretty amazing and feels like a first for LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Friends in Space?? Who would have ever guessed! Glad they're expanding the line and having fun with it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

First space set with a toilet? Because you know every Friends set has to have a toilet.

Reminds me a little of the Swallows and Amazons books, where most of the books are set in 1930s reality with the children sailing in the Lake District, but a few are presented as the adventures the children imagine for themselves, with pirates and buried treasure and earthquakes and the like.

Yeah, honestly I feel the same way.

SO many great sets in 2022 and 2023, but I'm just not feeling this first 2024 wave (and I LOVE the Friends theme so I'm a bit confused). Apart from "Olly's and Paisley's Family Homes" there's nothing here I'm super excited about - some nice sets, and some that my daughter will like, but not a crazy long wishlist of "must-haves". Some really cool ideas, but just not executed to my particular tastes I guess.

All good - plenty from last year still to go on with anyway! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

If a city space minifig happen to meet up with a friends space minidoll, which of the two should be considered the alien?

Or was that already proven in TLM2 Systar?

Gravatar
By in United States,

42609's solar panel looks more capable of charging a car than 41443's, even if 41443's had that little windmill.

@darkstonegrey: Considering that Friends sets and City sets have both referenced the other line, I'm saying neither.

I think eight whole years is more than enough time to pass to repeat an idea (especially since this one is a 4+ set aimed at a younger audience).

Because he was trying to cross the road, getting to the other side!

(Sorry, couldn't resist! :D)

I believe it’s canon that the pink-haired pop-star is Paisley’s alter ego a la Hanna Montana, but yes it’s a bit strange to list her if there’s no regular version mini-doll.
