By in Germany,

Lawyers and minions go well together. So does the Mansion and my collection.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So how long until these are 50% off in B&M? Especially Constuct-a-Gru.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well they might be listed on LEGO site now... but waiting for the take down order in 3... 2....

Seriously though, can see all of these being shelf warmers for quite a while.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nope. Hard pass. An easy way to save £195...

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Seeing the mansion from the outside I never would have thought the interior was so detailed!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

This solves the question if the antenna piece on 71046 (collectable minifigures: Imposter) is molded or not. It's a new piece!
I can see some really cool new uses for it.

Ray gun ends, lightning rods, microscale fountain...

That mansion does look surprisingly interesting.

By in France,

As obnoxious as the minions are, there's something very cute about their designs. The fat minions...not so much. Bizarre creative decision and bizarre that they're so protective of the big secret.

This is a rare case where I like the Mega Bloks product far more than the Lego. Granted, Mega Bloks designed a LOT of specialty pieces for their Minions, while Lego prefers to rely on existing parts. Still, the MB Minions ended up looking a lot more screen-accurate.

If a company makes a brand new piece for every character, that takes a lot of the inginuity and creativity that Lego is know for. Of course it's going to make it screen accurate if every character is sculpted to match the movie, it's going to look a lot better. Do you really want Lego to make that many useless pieces?

I can't help but like those goofy minions, I NEED A FAT MINION! wait... there's TWO FAT MINIONS!!!

Imho LEGO already produces tons of pieces of questionable usefulness. A few more won't make much of a difference.

There is a Conehead minion! He must be from France...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I love the ip but man is this looking sad.
The Mansion is just flat, zero playability. Yes the front looks nice but the rest is garbage for the price they dare to ask.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Minifig Gru without the prominent nose just doesn't work. His nose is such a distinctive feature and should have been included via a special mold.

He's from space, which may or may not be a place more bizarre than France. He landed here with Dan Aykroyd, a fellow alien who took on some acting jobs to stay afloat.

By in United Kingdom,

Just a thought, but I feel like Margo could have benefited from medium legs; she's always been taller than the other two girls, and must be in her teens by the time of the new movie. Minifigure characters of ages 13 - 15 usually get the medium ones, judging by the way the characters age in the HP theme at least.

If I bricklink her on her own at some point - which I may well do, since she's my favourite character from the franchise - I think I may swap her legs out for a pair that seem more fitting.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not much of a Minions/Despicable Me fan, but I really dig that mansion--it reminds me of 43217 which was one of my favorite sets from last year. I wouldn't pay full-price for it, but still--it looks like a fun set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I thought the weird Homer-Simpson-esque discolouration and lines some of them had round their mouths was just poor matching from products still in beta but it seems to be deliberate; given it only seems to occur on darker coloured and misshapen minions (the big one, the conehead one and the tall/stretchy one) I'm guessing it denotes they're wearing some sort of suit and that's actually a hole for a mouth not the mouth itself

Gravatar
By in United States,

So close to getting a banana bus...

Gravatar
By in United States,

When 75583 was revealed, I said that I was picturing it next to 43217, and now I think that it would be funny to put Russell and a Minion playing together in the treehouse.

Lego has used the minion head for some incredible uses recently, such as the orient express 21344, every piece Lego makes has thought put into it. Nobody wants a minion with fur coat as a single piece (just look up "mega bloks minion with fur coat" it shouldn't take long). They also have achieved great looking minion with the same parts being reused. Mega Bloks is simply lazy

That might be, but the end result is much better looking character figures.
And it's not as if LEGO didn't have loads of single-use pieces in its inventory. I have a whole box in my collection of pieces that are single-use pieces that can hardly be used for anything else.

So bizarre how the pics were handled for this, first the lawyers wanted em top secret but now the sets are just... out? Available to buy right now in the UK with zero fanfare?? Bwuh??

By in United States,

Where can I read more about the start/stop legal fuss from people who know (not internet mind hive guessing) because I think it’s always interesting and contains some good lessons.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm disappointed there are no drawings anywhere of Gru's plan from the first movie. "I fly to the moon. I shrink the moon. I grab the moon. I sit on the toilet." It's such an iconic moment and meme.

There is a minion named 'Mel' in every set, while 'Tim' is in two sets - both have regular and mega minion forms, so it looks like Mel and Tim get mutated late in the film. ...If the sets are anything near accurate, of course. *glares at Iron Man VS. the Mandarin - Ultimate Showdown*

I would love a big fur coat to pimp out my minifigs.

It's got good bones! I can't wait to get a peek at the instructions to make it into a complete building.

Considering that a deliberate misinformation campaign on Marvel's part was responsible for 76008, if these sets are inaccurate, it'll be for a different reason, like the usual "changes in design between the time the sets are designed and when the movie is finished" thing.

You wouldn't be able to use it if it's molded onto a very specific MINION.

They are 1x1 tiles, so they can be whatever angle you want them to be... But yes, they are wonky.

He must be using a variant of ACME Disappearing / Reappearing Ink, like in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?', except it's paint instead.

He used up _ALL_ the paint. Or he thought it would taste like bananas and licked the palette clean. I mean, Stuart just about sucked the hair off Kevin’s head in Minions. It can’t be ruled out.

Apparently so. The box front shows them all straight on, and the eyes look both centered and level with each other. But between the POV angle, the way the eyes stick out in front of the mouth, and the relative tilt of the eye prints, he definitely looks like M.C. Escher and Salvador Dali accidentally walked into Jeff Goldblum's matter transporter together.
