Castle Nocturnia

©2024 LEGO Group

The new DREAMZzz sets have now been added to LEGO.com, revealing prices for the range and two previously unseen sets, of which 71486 Castle Nocturnia is a definite standout!

These sets will be released on the 1st of August and there are now eight expected in total.

You can view those just revealed below...

71480 Logan the Mighty Panda

  • 342 pieces
  • £24.99, $29.99, €29.99
  • Logan, Dogan

71480-1

71486 Castle Nocturnia

  • 1742 pieces
  • £169.99, $199.99, €199.99
  • Mateo, Izzie, Mrs. Castillo, MadTeo, Dizzy, Never Witch, Sneak, Dreamlings (4)

71486-1

The upcoming DREAMZzz sets previously revealed can be found here and here, as well as in the database.

I think Castle Nocturnia looks spectacular, seemingly able to stand on three sides, which changes the appearance of the castle! What do you think of the sets? Let us know in the comments.

That castle is the most unique idea for a set I've seen in a looooong time! Wow. Incredibly well executed as well. O . O

Even more panda-ing!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The castle is pretty, reminds me of some puzzles in Monument Valley game

By in United Kingdom,

They are certainly going all in on Dreamz, can't say I know anyone that collects it, but I hope it sells well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The dual-molded raven is in every upcoming set! I love it!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The castle is an Escher castle so basically you can put it three different ways (1) red roof on top, (2) yellow spire on top or (3) blue tree on top. I think it's neat, especially for kids.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love the Escher-esque aspects of the castle!

By in United States,

Full disclosure, I actually said this when I was scrolling through:
"CASTLE NOCTURNIA? NO FREAKING WAY!!!"
I like how they integrated the aspect of gravity-defying rooms from the show, where you can turn the castle into different positions! Also, Phil the Manticore looks much less derpy in LEGO than he does in the show. Trust me.

Logan panda is pretty cool I guess. But I still want a Waking World version of him.

I hope we will see it fully in black in a castle/fantasy set soon. I'm not quite sure if the red panda is more of City style or Friends style - hard to tell.

Wonder if the castle could connect/combine with 71477.

I love seeing Lego flex its creative muscles with 71486 Castle Nocturnia! Using horizontal space to play and display minifigures is rare to see! Well done!

I'd like to know how many of us on Brickset have actually bought any Dreamzz sets. There was a large AFOL interest in Elves (I own every set!), a lesser interest in Nexo Knights, and even less in Hidden Side (don't own anything from those themes). Given the size of the AFOL market (something Lego has only recently admitted & acknowledged), Lego could really do with a theme that crosses over into AFOLland. Does Monkey Kid currently fit the bill? Obviously, there is still Ninjago...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don't personally like the aesthetic of Dreamzzz but I appreciate how it allows designers to unleash their creativity and really get wacky in the true spirit of Lego

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Wow that castle is absolutely brilliant. I imagine making sure it stays stable as you move it around was a challenge.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Uni-kitty would love Dreamzzz.
I love some of the pieces that they come out with for these. And it makes sense to build their own IP (like ninjago) vs. paying a license.
On the other hand, I have enough lego I am collecting so am not jumping on Dreamzzz Mechs

I only own 30636 from Dreamzzz, but I actually paid money for that one; the only Hidden Side set I own, 40336, was a GWP. There are sets from both lines that I want, however.

FWIW I have most of the regular Dreamzzz sets, some Elves, almost all Nexo Knights, one Hidden Side (the fire truck), almost all Chima, lots of Ninjago and Monkie Kid, most Trolls World Tour... I like the whimsical/fantastical Lego themes.
Today I have built 6915 and 6975. The UFO minifigures are among the best ever.

I hate to tell you this but it looks like he does have pants... sort of. The dark blue slope on his right leg definitely has a jeans-pocket sticker, so it looks like he's meant to have pants but the use of regular blue for the crotch area is not doing him any favors.

Ok. That castle is just... dreamy! Even though it doesn't look like it has much in terms of interior, it's still one of the coolest-looking structures I've seen in some time. Not sure if on parts alone it's meriting the $200 tag, but still.

Nowadays, I'm kind of trying to get a least a set from each theme (not ALL theme but most). I got the subway set 70430 from Hidden Side (not my first choice but the theme disappeared suddenly) and I got the Z-blob robot 71454 from Dreamzzz (would get a few more if I can find good discounts). Still haven't picked any from Monkie kids but I will.

I guess it's more manageable to get 1-3 sets per theme than trying to get all of one theme. And you get to experience different things.

1. Sets look very good. But as I mentioned many times, All of previous sets looked good but 90% of them had many designs problems. I hope these will be better.
The price of that biggest set is HORRIBLE. This looks like 140$ set max.
And Lion Looks as horrible as it looks in the show xD

I am also really disapointed of lack of unique figures.

There *is* a decent AFOL interest in Elves now, that it's been gone for a while. But most AFOLs at the time were just as crabby about it as they've ever been

Also, "Lego could really do with a theme that crosses over into AFOLland," you should go into standup, that's absolutely hilarious! The implication that AFOLs, Adult Fans of LEGO, need some special theme that would appeal to them, aside from 18+/Icons and UCS and most Technic and about half of Disney and most of Star Wars and Indiana Jones and Avatar and Marvel/DC and Harry Potter and Animal Crossing and all of the Space crossovers and a lot of the bigger Ninjago and some of the bigger Friends and Ideas and pretty much everything from Creator and Speed Champions. Yeah, those poor AFOLs have nothing appealing. Everyone make a frowny face for the AFOLs :(

I'm an AFOL and I've bought about half of the Dreamzzz sets but all at discounted prices. I'm not into Mechs so those are a pass for me. I'm buying them more for some of the interesting new parts rather than the theme itself. I bought a lot of the Elves sets but sadly missed out on the first year since I was just beginning to come out of my latest Dark Age. Hidden Side I got about half of the sets because they looked very interesting minus the app features to me and filled a bit of the hole left by the end of Elves. Nexo Knights never appealed to me at all. Ninjago is not something that I'm interested in but I have a few sets for some of the unique parts. The whole Ninja style thing just isn't something I care about. Monkey Kid again has some interesting sets that I've purchased but not the Mechs. At least a lot of parts have been available through PAB so I can avoid buying expensive sets that I mostly have no interest in. Plus most of the Monkey Kid sets end up getting price reductions eventually so I get annoyed when I've already bought them at full price since they can only be bought online now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

In my AFOL household we've been steadily acquiring Dreamzzz sets. They're pretty enough (and generally a good enough value) at regular prices, and completely irresistible to me on sale.

I feel hopeful it will remain a permanent theme. It’s targeting 8-12 year-olds who are more likely to move away from Lego in these years. There’s more competition amongst themes now than the first few years of Ninjago, and it’s still early days for Dreamzzz and needs to be combined with the show and marketing to kids.

I hear positive comments about its success from my local Lego store. When I asked in other non-Lego stores it hasn’t gone too well, probably needs some in-store promotions/videos to help.

I think I might have to get that castle..!

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That Castle looks cool but ain’t paying AU$300 for it. Sure to be a Lego exclusive as well. I reckon this is the last hurrah for Dreamzzz anyway. The theme is certainly clogging the shelves at retail stores here with no real deep discounts as yet.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I actually wanted to pass this theme due to lack of space, but this is very tempting...

Has a certain Time Cruisers meets FreeStyle vibe to it, also a bit of lessons learned from Hidden Side (which was better than people usually give it credit for, due to being too focused on the whole app-gimmick).

I love the Dreamzzz sets. I wasn't AFOLing when Elves was released and so have missed out on much of that. But I'm really happy to at least be in on Dreamzzz. I think it's a creative and gorgeous looking theme. I don't follow the cartoon series at all, but the sets have more than enough going on to inspire our own storylines.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The Dreamzz sets are just wonderful in their colour & creativity. Definitely planning on picking up the castle & raven, and maybe some of the creature sets. Vehicles, mechs & robots not so much my thing, but I can appreciate the designers’ work.

Answering the question about AFOL’s: I also own all the Elves retail sets, and have a fair few Dreamzz sets. And just to really throw the stereotyping, my first set ever was the yellow castle, and I enthusiastically collected castle sets through the 80’s & 90’s……. And yet I still love detailed modern sets with colour palates inspired by something other than a military disposal store……

I have almost all the Dreamzzz and Hidden Side sets as well as the main bad guy sets from Nexo.

I especially like dark, wierd stuff that will fit a Halloween motif.

Well, in our household out of over 1,000 LEGO sets we have three Elves sets, six Nexo Knights ones, five from Hidden Side and one DreamZzz set.
Our kids were mainly into Friends, Harry Potter, and to a lesser extent City. Not much interest in the more whimsical stuff, even though they are girls.
For myself I bought a few Monkey Kid sets as well as some of the larger Ninjago ones.

As a household with 1.5 AFOLs and 2 KFOLs, we own 7 Hidden Side sets (and we have multiple copies of 70419 and 70424) and 5 DREAMZzz sets. We will absolutely buy more from DREAMZzz; I would not be surprised if we end up with most of the theme, eventually. The Nightmare Shark Ship 71469 may be one of my favorite sets from any theme, ever.

We have also purchased a number of DREAMZzz sets as birthday presents for our KFOLs' friends. They seem to have been pretty popular.

Also, also, the KFOLs and I have enjoyed the tv show. While the theme may not be for everyone, I would be surprised and disappointed if it doesn't last for a few more years.

This AFOL has almost all of Dreamz first year. I have a few Hidden Side (wanted more, but they killed them so quickly). Nexo was before I left my long dark ages, but I did get a couple small ones on clearance.

I do have to say the panda is the worst of the line so far... Just feels off, even compared to the other Dreams "mechs".

Gravatar
By in Romania,

71486 Cool concept! Took me a second to realize that the base turns into stairs when the castle is rotated. Flying lion reminds me of Lego Mythica.

Gravatar
By in France,

One AFOL (started with Futuron) and one KFOL here, we own all of the first wave except the shark boat and the stand alone cage monster, all the january part of the second wave and we intend to own all the summer one too (except maybe Logan panda). Dreamzzz is one of those themes that reminds me how much Lego can be creative when it's not bound by boring licensed themes such as star wars or harry potter, just as it was with Space in my time.

That's clearly why Dreamzzz, Ninjago and Monkey Kid are my favourite contemporary themes. The new cross theme space is not bad, but there is still a lot of room for improvement in the area of sheer creativity compared to former Space.

Fantasy castles occured during my dark age. I am quite convinced I would have loved them, even though regular Castle is great and we are enjoying its slight revival.
