Imperial Dropship vs. Rebel Scout Speeder official images!
Posted by CapnRex101,
As well as 75397 Jabba's Sail Barge, LEGO has today announced 40755 Imperial Dropship vs. Rebel Scout Speeder, paying homage to a pair of early Battle Packs, 7667 Imperial Dropship and 7668 Rebel Scout Speeder.
The set has definite army building potential, as it includes a good selection of Stormtroopers and Rebel Troopers. The seventh and presumably last 25th anniversary minifigure is present too, with QT-KT, a member of D-Squad from the Clone Wars!
Priced at £34.99, $39.99 or €39.99, this set contains 383 pieces and will be released on the 1st of October. You can view more images after the break...
What do you think of this set and QT-KT as one of the 25th anniversary minifigures? Let us know in the comments.

Nice, they remade my first two Star Wars sets in one box. I’ll definitely pick this one up
I love that this is the third edition of an "Imperial Dropship" that never appeared in any Star Wars media, and was just invented by LEGO.
Another cool Star Wars set that will be almost impossible to buy because it will be regularly sold out thanks to the "investment" bros
Nice way to sell 75% of two battle packs for the price of two.
I could not care less about helmet holes, but between stuff like this and the overpriced Sail Barge that I would've loved for 300-400€ Lego is continuously solidifying my choice of not buying any more Star Wars sets.
Okay, for some reason I really like this. Its a great battlepack set. Still think its following the trend of Disney Owned property sets being too expensive for what you get however.
As for the pink R2 unit...I'd not have a clue who QT-KT is without googling them, which makes them seem a really odd choice for an aniversary figure.
edit: Anyone else notice that it seemed they had a big talk about diversity during developement? The one Rebel trooper seems to change skin tone alot, even on the box images.
Not complaining, just pointing it out.
The price of two battle packs, but two of the minifigures were replaced by just one. Makes perfect sense.
Still getting it though, because the current price is somewhat more reasonable than the original rumored $45.
It seriously should've been R2-KT in this set though. If they had tossed QT into a D-Squad Shuttle with Meebur Gascon and Commando Gregor, then everyone would've been happy!
Well, that's a keeper.
My budget's at the point where I'd be tempted to buy these 25A sets, build them, and then sell them off at "rental" value while keeping the 25A figures. This one I could keep for the play value.
Man, I hate that these figures are so hard to get. At least the 20A figures were in an affordable range and you could at least get *some* of them affordably, like Han being in a $20 set.
Not keen on this Cutie-Katie, would've preferred R2-KT, but then again Lego would've had to have made a charitable donation to Make a Wish (which would be a good thing to do to).
i honestly thought this was going to be R2-KT...now disappointed.
The combat speeder is giving me serious Galactic Battlegrounds/Force Commander/Battlefront vibes and I love it.
Because im really biased towards 75262, this might end up being my set of the year...
OT battlepack.
Need these
The most reasonable set of this years' "25th anniversary" mayhem. Definitely a buy!
Like the Tie Fighter/X-Wing set, this is another set that should have been split into two more affordable ones. Looks great otherwise though, and not as ridiculously priced as much of the rest of this year's range.
This is a really nice set. I had 7668 and it was amazing. I would love to have an army of Rebel Fleet Troopers, but I am sad that they have different faces unlike the previous set. Of course, this makes the figures stand out.
It does look good for army building, but I'd have to wait for a sale. Otherwise I'm in for one sometime in the future.
Next battle pack gonna be 50$ let's gooooo!
It'd be cool if they made this a charity drive set with R2-KT instead, but the QT-KT is a welcome droid nonetheless... though the approach for the torso bucket is questionable.
Definitely picking this up, I'm super nostalgic for both original sets, and the dropship looks much sleeker than the 75262 I missed out on. The lack of a redone Shadow Trooper is a bit of a miss for a $40 price tag, though.
I sadly missed out on the remake of the dropship they did 5 years ago for the 20th so I'm definitely gonna pick this up even though it lacks a shadow trooper. And as a big TCW fan I'm very happy with the astro droid, but now my completionist self wants the other astro droids from d-squad too
I don't recall QT-KT being THAT pink, but it's funny though :D
So where is Meebur Gascon now?
The throwback to the old battlepacks is also nice, hope they didn't change the rebel helmets to be oversized like so many other modern SW helmets...
That droid *is* a QT.
A Dropship that only drops TWO stormtroopers?
"Great, two stormtroopers, we're saved."

That's all you need to take down two rebels, three with a little luck ;)
Also, am I the only one who prefers the dual molded stromtrooper helmets?

No, I like them too.
I'm not truly up on the reference material here, but the scout speeder looks great, as do the scout troopers. I don't know anything about where that droid is from, but having a pink R2 unit would be fun. And for a change, that price seems pretty fair.
@Andrusi:
That is the worst "hear me out" I've ever seen online
@b2_O:
I personally am fine with them. Though ideally LEGO should go back to the 2014 helmet mold, but update the printing to not make it look so overwhelming detailed like https://brickset.com/minifigs/sw0551

In fairness, that never lasts. The blue battle packs that their leader demanded ended up at a 20% discount and still sat around on shelves for a while. It could be tough to find for the first couple months, but TLG produces these for at least two years usually
This set is in Switzerland overpriced: 49,90 CHF
There looks to be a mistake in the photos, unless multiple heads are included? In the final minifigure photo, the rebel woman has the same skin tone as the other two. On the box, the piece is a darker tone. I'm not even sure the front and back of the box show the same color.

I'd already pointed that out. Don't think its multiple heads, as the hands are different colours too.
In the group photo they're all pretty much the same colour. Then in the rear image they look dark brown, while the front image they seem tan.

No, one of the minifigures per battle pack was replaced by making each vehicle more substantial. Typical battle packs are around 115 pieces, but this is more like 185 pieces for each battle pack (factoring out QT and stand and pretending that's free).
Aren't you a bit pink for a droid?

True enough, also both sets are missing a figure.
The set makes sense but not in the exact same year they released the Tantive IV boarding set. It's the exact same figures except Vader and Antilles. When I think of what OT battle pack we could have gotten.. How about an Endor battle pack with Stormy, Scouty, 2 Ewoks and 2 Rebels. A glider, a speeder bike, some trees and a little bunker? I would have loved to get that, since it is so long we got those Camo Rebels or some Ewoks. It's a missed opportunity to get new figures.
Did any else pick up on the “cutie Katie”
This one looks great!
I might get it, because i'm in need of some more storm troopers to grow my Imperial army, and I also need some rebels to start my rebel army!
With every new Star Wars set reveal, I find myself more and more becoming that "Get off my lawn" old guy.
When they first started for me, battle packs were 5 figures and $6.50 USD
Then they moved to 4 figures and a small build at $10.00 USD
Staying the same, they began to creep up to $11, $12, $15 USD
Now, we get a double battle pack redo with 2 less figures (not counting Pink Floyd Droid) and some extra superfluous pieces for $40.00 USD
I thought that pink Astromech was a reference to The Great Heep at first.

Apparently, R2-KT herself was originally supposed to be in the D-Squad arc. But the writers thought it would be confusing if both her and R2-D2 were nicknamed "Artoo" in the show, so they created QT-KT instead.
And just gonna say it: the D-Squad episodes are criminally overhated.

I agree.
Lego SW is definitely in love with The Remakes Continue.
These are decently done, for remakes. But, the figs continue Lego SWs' commitment to the principle of 'barely adequate is plenty good enough.' No boots for the Rebels? No Shadow Trooper? Pathetic.
The price is gross and absurd. I won't bother with this until 50%. It will be there before Xmas.
No one needs a bunch of Rebel Troopers or Family Guy Imps.

Dust.... everywhere... dust... cough!... hack... so dry.... dust... everywhere.... dust...
Does QT-KT have back printing?
Man this is great, between this set and 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV, this is a GREAT way to get alot of stormtroopers and rebel troopers.
I was planning on getting 5x 75387 for a MOC I'm planning out, and here I plan on getting, heck with it, maybe 5 copies of this set as well. So hey, 25 Stormtroopers and 25 Rebel Troopers! I'm gonna have alot of fun setting up a battle scene.
Well said @SpaghettiDish 75% of 2 battle packs for the price of 2. What a dealio! Like one of those combo sets they sell in Europe with missing figs.
Not a SW LEGO fan, but I like that LEGO went back to actual guns as opposed to stud shooters.

I'd pay $40 for that.
I've never watched The Clone Wars aside from the movie they made, so I'm not familiar with QT-KT, but still, its a pink astromech, and I love getting non-white astromechs! Definitely picking this one up, even if I would prefer it to have one more figure for each faction.

While it is sad that is likely true, I hope the market treats people like that unkindly. This set will be printed to the moon and back. I don't see how these will appreciate in value quickly at all. Feels like the figures will be so common. Value comes from rarity/scarcity, these modern mass produced things are the opposite of that. That is one bubble that will prolly one day burst.
No dual molded boots? (Which would make the Rebels perfect).
This is GREAT!
About $30usd worth of figures and two very cool new redo designed vehicles too for another $10usd?
Fabulous. Must get!
Sad news for imperial pilots: unlike previous versions of the imperial dropship, this time it seems like they are managed by stormtroopers... I only hope they have far better accuracy while landing than shooting blasters.

No, it's just the difference between the render and the actual photo with intense lighting. If you look closely at the actual photo, the colors are different. They look almost the same because of the lighting. It also depends on the monitor and color settings of your device.
Brilliantly detailed updates of two sets that were pretty good at the time. I get that more detailed parts and printing might have pushed the price up, but it seems to me to be worth it.
And I really don't care much for the provenance or canon - a shock pink R2 unit? That's hilarious.
As for the rebel troopers' mixed skin tones, I think they missed a trick; when we could have had the 'I was two days from retirement... x_x' guy from Blue Harvest! ;-)
Whats up with the weird shadows in the render?
@Eightcoins8 said:

I don't see any odd shadows except in the real world 'lifestyle' photo (the last pic), which is not a render.

"that's how modern capitalism works. you chip away stuff from product and slowly increase price. It's win-win for corporation since cost of making product goes down and what they get for it goes up."
That’s a grossly inaccurate generalization. Wages go up. Cost of raw materials goes up. Cost of utilities goes up. Cost of transportation goes up. Cost of rent goes up. Raising prices and/or reducing contents is necessary just to maintain the same profit margin over time.
@LegoJCS:
Normally I’d make a crack about basic Stormtroopers not being able to hit the inside of a sealed room while stationed on anything spherical, but landing means hitting the ground. The ground is probably the one thing they _can_ hit, even if it’s a landing that would make Launchpad McQuack wince in sympathy. I mean, they have to run out of fuel at some point, right?
$40...?!?!? I'm having a hard time justifying that...
ha! cool! I have have the original set. kinda wish it was a GWP set to get some extra value out of Jabba's sail barge. nice if you collect rebel troopers. Neat!

It has more pieces than 2 battlepacks would - it maybe lacks 2 minifigs that 2 normal battlepacks would have but by normal Lego standards this is actaully a good deal. The sail barge, where they dropped the ball a little on the figs, not so much

To borrow a joke I saw recently on Instagram: as long as they wear those helmets, they can’t hit anything.

No, no, that only applies to basic Stormtroopers on spherical objects. Ep4 Sandtroopers? Hit stuff. Ep5 Snowtroopers? Hit stuff. Ep6 Scout troopers? Hit stuff. Ep4 basic Stormtroopers on a flying doorstop? Hit stuff. But basic Stormtroopers on the first Death Star, the second Death Star, or Endor? Safest place you can stand is right in front of them at point blank range. Bespin gets a little tricky. Technically the planet is a spherical gas giant, but they’re standing in a flying pastry tray, so they managed to hit one thing, but otherwise even the white hallways didn’t show any scorch marks that I recall, meaning they couldn’t hit the inside of an enclosed hallway!
@PurpleDave: The characters they were shooting at had names, simple as that. They couldn't hit C3P0 or R2-D2 in ANH, despite mopping up all the Rebel troopers, because the droids had designations, which are as good as names.

That stuff they hit in Cloud City? C-3PO. On Endor, it was Leia.

Those weren't pilots. They were Shadow Troopers, and are sorely missed. (sob!)
@StyleCounselor:
Could be worse. Remember the Shadow ARF Trooper? A member of my LUG placed an order to get that promo and failed to notice that, during checkout, you had to check a box that said something to the effect of, “Yes, I actually want you to send me this exclusive minifig that’s going to sell out in hours and spike in value two minutes later.” And of course by the time he found out there was a check box, it was sold out and the value had spiked.
However, (I think) there was a happy ending to this. Months, maybe even years later, it randomly popped up again, as they must have found some lost inventory. I quickly got in touch with him, and I _think_ he got an order through before it was gone again.
And that check box was never to be seen again, since I’m sure every single customer service rep got third degree burns on their phone ears over that fiasco.

A similar thing happened with Finch Dallow. I was out of that loop, unfortunately.
I did pick up two Shadow ARFs. I can't remember exactly how. I think it was through TRU.
@StyleCounselor:
Any time they did exclusive polybag minifig GWPs from themes I collected, I always made a point of getting three copies. Except Hoth Han. That one I started with three, and then they just kept forcing the things on me. I qualified for some sort of loot box from LEGO.com, and it came with a Hoth Han. I got in line for a VIP launch copy of UCS MF2, and our late original store manager handed one out to everyone waiting in line (to be fair, after months of bleeding down what they had left after the promo, they finally emptied the box…and corporate sent them a fresh case of 250 more as a “reward” for their efforts). I think I ended up with at least 1-2 more beyond that, but I can’t remember what the source might have been.

No idea what $6.50, 5-figure battle packs you're talking about, but the first imperial dropship was 4 figures and 81 pieces for $10 in 2008 (equivalent to almost $15 today). Half of this pack would be one less figure but roughly 100 more pieces for $5 more.
Honestly my biggest complaint is the stormtrooper helmet, I've never cared for this design that hangs over the front of the torso and can't wait for them to change it again

It's not as overpriced as the average Star Wars set these days.
By the way, did these vehicles ever appear in any of the movies or TV shows, or did Lego invent them?

Thanks, Dave. That is indeed the one I was thinking of. My first, however, might actually have been 6077 which had 6 minifigs!
As for the extrapolation of costs over time, I’ll leave that to Sky. Buying habits and appreciation of value start early in a consumers life and they are telling me this new set is regurgitated and at a bloated cost.
