City Advent Calendar - Day 3

Posted by ,

Yesterday's excellent scale model of some construction equipment was a nice build, but not very festive. Maybe we'll see something more festive behind door number 3.

This has to be one of my favourite things to find behind a door! I love this dog with a Christmassy sweater. For good measure the dog comes with a bowl and bone, so the pup looks to be having a good holiday season.

It's not much of a build, but the dog makes for a good companion for the minifig on the first day.

A very cute set, I would prefer to see more Christmas animals like today, over random construction "toys" like yesterday.

Popular one in the household today!

Do you think it is a Golden Retriever or a yellow Lab?

It's a sweater vest.

After tracking down a copy last night, I opened all of the minifigs in preparation for our display this weekend. I got two bones with the dog. I can’t recall if the short bone qualifies for a standard extra or not.

This is the primary reason I bought this calendar

Animals in the advent calendars are loved.
Holiday sweater prints in the advent calendars are loved.

Combining the two clearly creates the best door of all!

I've always gotten extras.

By in Ireland,

Seeing as there is a minifigure wearing the same jumper pictured on the box, I'm going to assume this one is just the same one with the arms cut off to fit the dog.

A yellow Lab is where jaundice researchers work.

Are minifigure collectors jaundice researchers?

Without getting too spoilery, any sweaters that have both front and back print have unique print on the front, the common Christmas tree on the back, and may be colors other than dark-green. Any sweaters that don’t have front/back print (including the dog) just have the common Christmas tree, and are always dark-green.

Not IP minifig collectors, but pretty much any other, yes.

Surely it’s a Christmas (holiday) harness rather than a sweater with the stud to connect a lead.

Any other... if you don't count Star Wars Marvel, and every other licensed line out there (except forTLM, TLM2, AND TLNM), that is. Well, except for The Simpsons, but they're yellow in the source material.

@TheOtherMike:
I was at Brickworld Chicago one year, and a young girl had seen me a few days in a row, and exclaimed that she just realized I was wearing a different shirt each day. I’m like, yeah, most people do. What she meant was that I’d been cycling through a set of matched printed T-shirts. I think that year it happened to be Gotham City Roller Girls, featuring Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy.

Also, “IP” stands for “Intellectual Property”, and is frequently used as shorthand for “licensed stuff”. So all the Disney-Owns-Everything stuff was already covered. I know that TLM/TLM2 are shared IP between TLG and WB, but I don’t know how the rights break down on Ninjago/TLNM. Obviously TLBM is strictly WB…except for the few instances where they, themselves, were licensing someone else’s IP (offhand I know Doctor Who’s Daleks are BBC, but I can’t remember if the Kraken comes from a WB film or not). And of course, some of the films represented are owned by WB, but produced using acquired film rights (LotR, HP).

It should have been cool yellow. I tried replacing it with the head from 71046-9 but man, that looked weird.

Yeah, that's a little too space cool for D&D.
