Spider-Man Advent Calendar - Day 1

Posted by ,

In general, I have not been impressed with the annual Marvel Advent Calendars. However, this example focuses on Spider-Man, which is a new direction for an Advent Calendar.

On that basis, I hope this calendar improves on its predecessors. I am certainly curious to get started with door number one...

The packaging for 76293 Spider-Man 2024 Advent Calendar matches the 2023 Marvel Advent Calendar, presenting the view from a tower in the New York skyline. I think this design worked nicely for displaying the items included last year, so hopefully the 2024 Advent Calendar fares similarly. The smashed window promises some conflict to come, unsurprisingly!

Appropriately, the calendar begins with Spider-Man himself. This minifigure has appeared in many previous sets and a little more variety would be appreciated, although this design looks good on the whole. The web pattern is intricate and I like the printed arms, despite the obvious difference between their shade of red and that on the torso and head.

The lack of dual-moulded legs is disappointing, however. Other iterations of Spider-Man often feature dual-moulded legs and even this comic-based figure has appeared with them a couple of times before, but not on this occasion, sadly.

Peter Parker has been known to deliver pizzas on occasion, so the inclusion of a printed pizza box is appropriate and this is a useful accessory. The web attachment element is necessary as well, but suggests a later day will be devoted entirely to web accessories, when they could have been included here.

Overall - While not hugely exciting for seasoned Marvel collectors, this is a good Spider-Man minifigure.

Anytime I get a Spidey with blue pants, I end up Bricklinking a set of dual molded legs.

The last day of advent will be Spidey's dual-molded red-blue legs. FINALLY we can be happy to get socks for Christmas!

So this figure has appeared multiple times? It's the Clone Saga all over again...

Maybe Santa Claus enters through the smashed window?

Why do they never give this guy red boots (dual molded legs)? Seems like a no brainer to me, of course he needs his boots!

I'm always disappointed that they cheap out on Spiderman and never give him a dual-sided head.

Dude, the bar's so low on the Marvel Advent Calendar that you'd need to dig down several feet just to trip on it. Even Hermes Conrad can't limbo under that bar.

*In the voice of an old lady with a violin:

Spider-Man!
Spider-Man!

Does whatever a spider can!

No way. Spiderman in a Spiderman calendar?! Who'd have thought?

By in Germany,

While the printed arms were definitely an upgrade, I still prefer the 2002 version with the "belt" printed on the hips (I know it's slightly inaccurate with the entire hips being red).

The plain blue legs feel kind of cheap, especially on a figure without head or neck accessories.

I think you’re still too high.

The only thing this calendar needs to beat last year's offering is slightly-less furniture. I'm honestly pretty hopeful that it can clear *that* bar, at least.

"Sweet pulled pork of New York! I'll have you know I can limbo under a steamroller!"

@Zordboy:
Would you like a weapons rack for Spiderman's web assortment? Perhaps two, if there are too many for one to hold?

@TheOtherMike:
Yeah, but he never said he could do it under a _buried_ steamroller. Best we saw him manage was under a door.
