Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 4
Posted by CapnRex101,
The tablecloth on yesterday's dining table was flame yellowish orange, which is a shade often associated with Hufflepuff in LEGO Harry Potter sets.
For that reason, I wonder whether a Hufflepuff student will arrive today...
Maybe one will at some point, but today we receive a Christmas tree instead. These are found in most Harry Potter Advent Calendars, always with a slightly different design. I am glad to see that tradition continue here and the general shape of this tree looks lovely, as do the alternating pearl gold and red decorations. However, the 2x2x2 cone should really have been dark green to match the element below.
Overall - This is far from my favourite LEGO Christmas tree, but I appreciate that it is distinctive.

I like the elves flower bottom being used for the bottom of the tree. It would have looked better if the green was consistent, unfortunately.
But it's still a nice use of the piece whenever it's used.
I wonder if we're om Gryffondor this whole time and yesterday's table was meant to be the gold/yellow that makes uo half of its colors?
We have red and gold decorations here again, after all.
This one is a miss - too many mismatched colours

Agreed. It's a bad day. :(
C'mon, SW. You're our only hope. ;)
It's a shame that the tree and skirt are the same shade of brown and that the trunk and base aren't the same shade of brown.
But I love the shape and the reference to Gryffindor in the decorations
This one was a pain to build in the bag. Do you know how hard it is to line up all the logos on a 2x2 grid of 1x1 round plates through cellophane?
If the cone were dark green this would be great. But the two tones of green look really bad mismatched.

Even when I lined up the logos (I haven't bothered since my stroke), I never bothered doing it if the studs weren't going to be visible on the finished model.
Part Usage: Noice
Colour Usage: Eeeehhhh

Luckily it is cellophane (or some sort of plastic) and no paper bag!

Indeed. Hard to tell if you even got the color pattern right through paper.
