Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 5
Posted by CapnRex101,
The requisite Christmas tree arrived on day four of the Harry Potter Advent Calendar, offering no clues for day five's contents. Another minifigure would be good though.
Alohomora...
Today introduces another dining table, this time adorned with a blue Ravenclaw tablecloth. The actual table is identical to the Hufflepuff example from day three, although their different colours look good. However, this item is most interesting for the selection of accessories on top, including a printed cookie, a herbology book and a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans.
Overall - Though a little repetitive, this table is nicely designed and comes with some excellent accessories.

I pulled out a bunch of 1x1 gold round plates last night. Why? Because the Great Hall tables in 75964 had studs on the bottom, and these tables don't. If you want your Advent lunch tables to match, stud them up.
There's also 30420, which had a Great Hall table that did...not match the style and also lacked 1x1 studs on the bottom. Consistency, Lego. Consistency.
Only another two of these to go then. At least some effort has been made to make the accessories different
The black book cover gives me Tom Riddle's Diary vibes.
Overall I like the accessories for this one. The flat silver cup is useful too.

It's probably quite authentic to have non matching tables in a hall like that... Pretty sure I haven't been in a dining hall of that nature that had all matching furniture...
"Alohomora..." I see what you did there.

Well, but magic, remember? They can conjure a new set of furniture before every meal, if they so choose. Saves a lot of time cleaning up afterwards.
I thought it looked like a laptop, but it's a book. lol

"I kind of wonder about these "every flavour" Jelly Beans. I mean - presumably, you've already tasted some of those in real life, and they already have an impressive and equally disappointing array of tastes. Apple, cinnamon, strawberry, heartbreak, earwax, banana, disillusionment, kidney, rubber cement, bicycle, tramp's backhair, Monster Energy Drink, battery-acid, grape; it's amazing, the things these producers expect us to put into our mouths. It's even more amazing that they so often turn out to be correct."
I was actually quite impressed with both the grass and dirt flavoured ones... having never tasted either (in my recollection) I found they tasted exactly like what I imagined they would.
@Ridgeheart:
I bet they have an unusually high turnover in the taste-testing department.
Okay, for half a second, I thought that book was a laptop and thought it was strange for Hogwarts to be using modern muggle technology like that.

A 'book' is a kind of ancient, manual, non-electric, one-subject laptop made from trees that are pulverized, chemically-bleached, pressed into thin sheets, dried, and stamped with ink.
Go ask yer grampa.

I never tried any of the real-life ones, although I would actually like to try the sardine ones. As for the ones in the Harry Potter world, I've wondered for a while if a saliva one would taste like anything.
@TheOtherMike:
Would it have to _taste_ like anything, or would suffice to have it dissolve into a frothy mass of backwash?
Silver cup, book with printed non-specific page (yes its a plant but its not HP specific), a printed cookie and box of lollies.
Really great parts!
