Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 9
Posted by CapnRex101,
Yesterday's festive crackers were a fun addition to the Advent Calendar, breaking the pattern of items over the calendar's first week and leaving no clues for what could arrive next.
Let's open the door and see...
Susan Bones represents Hufflepuff in this Advent Calendar, making her third appearance in minifigure form. The hair element, which is made of rubber, was designed for Moaning Myrtle, but I think it suits Susan in dark orange. The moulded texture is certainly impressive and looks superb from all sides.
Like her fellow students, the minifigure includes a unique torso with a Hufflepuff scarf. I like the yellow stripes around the hem of the jumper and the badger design on the scarf looks lovely as well,
I have removed Susan's hair to show the badger design for this image, which probably explains her sad alternative expression. A printed 2x2 tile with a similar badger crest is also included and will doubtless serve as a plinth for tomorrow's item, based on other days in this calendar.
Overall - Susan Bones is another welcome exclusive minifigure, but maybe we could have had an entirely new Hufflepuff student instead.

Poor Susan; anyone who'd lose their hair so quickly would have this expression.
I'm really surprised this isn't running in a pattern of house student, house statue, house table. That'd get us straight through 12 days.
Useless fact, Stan Bones was played by Chris Columbus's daughter making her one of the very few Americans in the cast.
Cute minifigure

Susan Bones, Susan Bones
Stan and Bone is my cat
If the Gilligan’s Island theme song was rewritten for Hogwarts, Hufflepuff would be “and all the rest” like Maryann and the Professor were originally. Of the ones I remember being named on-screen, 50% of them died at the end of the 4th film.
BALD!
I wonder if the badger statue will be at least remotely similar to the animal that it should represent.
Still no Ernie Macmillan minifigure, eh?
Susan Bones has been discovered as a Huffelpuff that actually has a name, so now they keep including her everywhere. Because a certain triwizard contstant defijitely had a smaller role

A bigger role, but dramatically shorter as one would expect from a spare.

You mean Deadric?
Too soon?
"I have removed Susan's hair to show the badger design for this image, which probably explains her sad alternative expression." This is not what she was expecting when she said, "I'm ready for my next picture."

Bob Denver was actually the one who got them to change that.

Bob Denver also tried to get them to stop writing stories that had Gilligan go swimming in the lagoon. Guess he only had so much pull, huh?

Did you forget what kind of character you're playing, Bob?"

Well, I mean, you know it’s going to be grey. Wait, are badgers normally grey?

It depends if you're talking about an African swallow or European swallow.
African swallows are purportedly much stronger, able to carry perhaps an entire coconut over exceedingly long distances matching the airspeed an weight capacity of two European swallows using a bit of string to carry a coconut.
You have to know these things when you are a king, don't you know.
I dropped HP like a rock ages ago as the author gradually went insane about chromosomes, but I used to be a big fan and I have absolutely no memory of a character named Susan Bones.

I remember the existence of the character, but couldn't begin to tell you if she did anything, or, if so, what it was she did.
