Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 12

Posted by ,

An interesting pattern has emerged during this Advent Calendar, with a Hogwarts student, their relevant house statue and a dining table arriving in groups of three.

To date, these have been followed by something less predictable and we are due for such an item on day twelve...

I am pleased to find Hedwig in the Harry Potter Advent Calendar this year, delivering a couple of presents for Christmas. Harry's faithful owl has appeared many times before in this form and her vibrant yellow eyes and outstretched wings look lovely, as always. The gifts are attractive as well, featuring surprisingly muted colours and containing a printed donut tile, in Hedwig's parcel.

Overall - Though not hugely exciting for seasoned LEGO Harry Potter collectors, it is nice to have Hedwig in the Advent Calendar.

Alright! A B-1 Battle Hedwig! Perfect for my ever-growing Avian army which I put up against Clone Troopers.

We are certainly be spoilt with the range of food tiles in this calendar and I'm not complaining about that

Of course, this is Harry Potter so the doughnut is probably actually called a Whatsitbreak Cake and when you eat it, it magically breaks one of your limbs at random. The "fun" is finding out which one of your arms or legs gets fractured!

Clearly I have major issues with the basic concept of Chocolate Frogs and Everyflavor beans. Who wants a chocolate that seems alive and slimy or a jellybean that can taste like the underside of stadium bleachers?!

I have an adverse reaction to receiving Hedwig at this point. I have seven of her. I'd prefer any other owl

This ravenclaw statue looks a bit different from the others. The plynth is also a bit off, especially the color.

I don't mind Chocolate Frogs, because anything that reminds me of Monty Python (specifically the "Crunchy Frog" sketch, which I wouldn't be surprised to learn was the inspiration for them) can't be all bad.

C’mon, you know the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students have asked you to stop calling them Clone Troopers. Just because they don’t get the focus of Gryffindor and Slytherin and are kinda just there for background, no reason to be rude

Empty boxes for Christmas! My favorite!

After 7 years of LEGO Harry Potter collecting, I have at least 20 of these things, as well as even more non-snowy owls.

In fairness, my wife loves owls and it's the least objectionable Lego I own to her.

Olive drab isn’t really a color that I’d ever associate with Christmas. Somehow, the images make it look more appealing than the physical model. Can’t say the same for mixing gold with nougat.
