Another new set based on Disney's Moana 2 has been revealed by LEGO!

43258 Kakamora Barge will be released on the 1st of June, depicting the ship of the antagonistic tribe as seen in the film. Most notably, the Maui bigfig makes its first appearance since 41150 Moana's Ocean Voyage in 2017! Also included is Moana herself, as well as Heihei, Kotu, and five Kakamora.

The set will cost £89.99, $99.99 or €99.99, and contains 572 pieces.

By in Netherlands,

I only know of Moana because Lego made sets about it, so can't say much about the contents. All I can say it looks absurdly expensive for what little you get....

Didn't capture the esthetic very well without water. Looks like buildings rather than a barge but I don't know how that could be fixed.

Figs look cool and like the use of the similar piece for the coconuts and squishmallows.

Kids will be interested in it for it but probably get overshadowed by friends sets when decision time hits them for birthday or Christmas sets. Disney hasn't been hitting them as hard as friends or Dreamzz.

99.99 USD.. must be a new Ferrari coming out that the CEO wants.

Another very expensive one.....

By in New Zealand,

I'm surprised they haven't released more Moana II sets, given how popular the film has been.

By in Germany,

I liked how previous sets from Moana captured the exquisite curves and flowy aesthetics of various seaside fauna, buildings, and ships. This one feels very blocky and disjointed compared to those but the patterns and colors are still lovely. Too bad about the price. hashtag mauinflation

No magic fish hook?
No magic powers

Wow. So expensive, so sad. That Maui is awesome. Best thing is the cute savage Kakamora. I want those so bad.

By in Puerto Rico,

This really doesn't make any justice to what's supposed to be in my opinion.

$100 for that? Dang, that Maui Big Fig must be expensive to produce....

BTW, the whole site seems to be pretty slow for the last few hours? Or am I the only one experiencing that?

Nope. Not just you.

This looks like a lot of fun despite this being the most boring part of the movie! It's tkk expensive though unfortunately.

Same here. I've been getting a lot of "site insecure", and my browser blocks me from accessing the page.

Been having loading issues with the site since last night when I couldn't get in at all. It's better today but still very slow.
The set is cute but way expensive with the Disney Tax. Am curious to know if the Kakamora faces are printed or will be stickered. Probably not something I will purchase unless an awesome deal comes around. I already have the Maui fig from a few years back.

This has to be in the running for worst set value of all time.

By in United Kingdom,

I don't know who Kotu is in this set, but I'm not seeing the most out-of-focus of Bionicle's initial 15 named Matoran characters anywhere so it's probably not who I'm looking for anyway...!

What a huge steal.

The pieces look to be curved in a way that would not allow for stickers.

Kakamora were before he gets the hook back. Also, fortunately, the design they gave him previously is so simple that it might be possible to copy it with parts from your existing collection.

@LuvsLEGO_Cool_J:
I really want it for the Kakamora, sure, but I also got an actual minifig of Moana in the mini train set. Ever since, I've wanted to build her first boat, but that specific sail hasn't been in production since that time. So, this would get me the sail, and the Maui bigfig. The question is if one of the Kakamora is the one from the sequel, or if they're all only sourced from the first film.

@BabuBrick:
Bigfigs always jack up the price quite a bit, same as large molded animals. And it doesn't help that they probably scrapped his original molds long ago, so now they have to pay off the new tooling, too.

@karrit:
Besides the compound curve issue that @TheOtherMike mentions, the Kakamora are characters. They'll have printed faces just because it's critical for play.

While branded Moana II, this seems to depict the scene from the first movie, and seems to be Moanan's original boat, at least the sail is.
Very strange.

What a ludicrous price point

Great set, horrible price. I still want it!

@purpledave - this is from the second film. The kakamora are back

Kotu is the masked one at the top of the barge

The sail, although similar to the first film, is from the second

If it were less expensive, I'd get it.
As it is, I'll probably bricklink

No, the first film had an outrigger canoe with a triangular crab claw sail that has a double-spiral design on it, as seen in set 41150 and 43170 (technically, this sail doesn't match anything in either film, since the spiral sail didn't have a red band across it). The second film had a giant catamaran with an enclosed deck and a skinny vertical sail, as seen in 43270. I think 43210 represents a different catamaran, seen either at the end of the first film, or the beginning or end of the second.

So would this be the successor to the Hoopty?
