It's nice to see a sequel trilogy ship get represented in the Starship Collection, and Kylo Ren's shuttle is a design I've always liked. Now to take a big swig of coffee and check how much it costs...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

U-wing will be nice on the usual discounts from certain retailers. As I missed out on the last one, and Cassien/K2 are the only core members of Rogue One that I have been unable to bricklink figures of

Very tempting to get Chopper to go with 3PO and R2, but the others are such an iconic duo, feels wrong to add a third to them.

Have fun cleaning the coffee off everything in front of you!

I saw the Millennium Falcon polybag at the store, but I skipped it because of the lack of printing for the cockpit. Recent TIE fighter polybags have had a printed piece, so it's puzzling that they couldn't do the same.

When will we get Luthen's ship with Mon Mothma?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not one to usually complain abt GWPs, but that Slave I keychain should deffo not be a 2500 insider points gift & should come with the Slave I itself!!! Plus there's a certain number of us that don't shop online & find it easier to go to a physical Lego store, so can't get any of these products in the first place!!

Is the coffee swig for a spit take? Cause that price is nuts.

The biggest kill count in star wars, chopper is mass murderer, best droid in the universe. Should have hiss kill count on the title plate

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I'm only interested in U-Wing. The design looks nice. Good minifigs, too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The fact that the keychain requires insider points rather than the purchase of Slave 1 is a bit silly. Most of the gear GWPs that tie-in with a flagship release always required the purchase of said release (most Star Wars UCS releases and Harry Potter releases for example). Personally I think it should be an option where either you buy Slave 1 or you use insider points. Win-win for anyone who wants it wether they want to buy the UCS set or not.

By in Netherlands,

€69.99 for a set (75406 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle) with 386 parts, most of which are black plates, is borderline criminal.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Was just a matter of time to get a SW logo. Sigh. The BrickHeadz are nice and the helmets are great. I'm not even a fan of the BrickHeadz and I don't collect the helmet series. The Chopper set is really good! I want that U-wing. That polybag gift of the Falcon I already bought from Target 2 weeks ago. It's beefy but the back of the small model is terrible.

Agreed! Some of us are not able to get physical Rewards owing to not being permitted delivery by the LEGO Online Store :(

By in United States,

My thoughts on each of these:

40795 : Definitely going to get that. Looks really cool, and will complete my Trilogy of Luke Skywalker BrickHeadz.

40796 : Cool pack. Might've gotten it if Obi-Wan was included instead of Padmé. Like the swappable eyes for Anakin/Vader.

75399 : Already have 75155 , and this is much, much smaller, and Andor doesn't really interest me, so I'm definitely skipping that. Glad to see K-2SO back!

75406 : MORE SEQUEL TRILOGY SETS!!! Kylo's Shuttle is really cool, but, I already have 75256 , which is an awesome set, and I prefer minifigure-compatible sets, so unfortunately I'll probably pass. That and the price is ridiculous.

75407 : Cool concept, but missed opportunity to include some cool minifgures (1 character from each Trilogy and a couple of TV show characters would've been nice). Also, this set should've been released last year as part of the 25th Anniversary stuff. It's a year too late, imo.

75408 : I don't collect the helmets, but this one looks really good! Definitely one of the best ones they've released. I'm glad this line's not dead.

75415 : This might make me buy my first helmet set! Kylo's helmet looks great, and it's awesome to get a Sequel addition to the series.

75416 : I always really like the buildable characters, and I really like Chopper, but something looks off with his eyes. Might think about getting him down the road, but not sure yet. The older Chopper minifigure was much better, too.

30708 : Cool, but I don't need it.

40765 : This is the perfect concept for a GWP: a depiction of something you normally wouldn't see in a normal retail set, something that pairs well with the headline set it accompanies, and three desirable minifigures.

5009394 : Cool....I guess?

Overall, this is an awesome-looking wave, covering lots of different aspects of the franchise. I would've liked some Sequel Trilogy sets with minifigs again, but this is at least a start! Also, I'll bet that @KyloBen1012 is happy right now! ;)

I predict deep discounts on Kylo's shuttle. That price is just bonkers.

Gravatar

I'm not a fan of star wars at all but I can really appreciate how perfect the logo set is

kylo's shuttle is literally 100% overpriced, I can not see it for anything more than 35$.

Joking. He's probably got a higher body count than that.

Well, the U-Wing looks A LOT smaller than expected. Disappointing, considering the minifig lineup.

Its me! Not sure if that's intentional or an accidental @ing. I like the sets overall. Still think Lego misses the mark with playsets. In this wave there's technically only 1 playset and then the promo I guess counts as one. When I was a kid it was mostly just playsets, with builds and minifigs, but now it's all subthemes, with helmets, logos, brickheads

Especially as the Millennium Falcon Microfighter, such as 75295 had the printed cockpit

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Some of these are great, Kylo Ren's helmet looks good, and as a lonely fan of the BrickHeadz I think the flight suit Luke looks great. Glad I got the original U-Wing when I did because it is in my opinion one of the best Lego Star Wars sets, but while this is smaller it is cheaper and has some decent figures.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Also no way I'm getting Chopper. That thing will try and kill me while I sleep!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The eyes of those Sith Brickheads look bloodshot from too little sleep and too much caffeine!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I'm only getting the Chopper, I quite like Chopper. Not getting it day one though, I'd rather have the discount further along (aiming for 30%) than the GWP. I like the training GWP, but not worth spending that much on lego.com for full price.

The Kylo Ren ship will depend very much on how deep the discount will be. It is a very cool ship and I really like the scene where Kylo arrives with it on that one planet (can't remember the name, the one where the bug-eyed lady's castle get demolished). But that price... I got the last minifig scale one and I believe I paid about the same for that. Bonkers indeed, it looks very small.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm worried that doubling up on overpriced Kylo Ren display items will be a bad market test for more sequel sets. Sure, a lot of the hardcore sequel fans like Kylo Ren and would be interested in both sets, as mentioned by others, they're both sets of mostly black plates. This isn't just troubling due to the value proposition, but also that Lego has had a bad habit of releasing sets too early or too late for their sales sweet spots, and only having display sets for the tenth anniversary of The Force Awakens isn't great as they would likely be out of budget for the kids that grew up with them. One or two smaller playscale TFA sets would complement the display items well for budget builders.

In terms of things being too late, it's obvious that the choice of Jango's Slave 1 was due to people pointing out they squandered Attack of the Clones' 20th anniversary and got reminded that they haven't done a minifigure-compatible one since 2002. Better late than never, and if the V-19 Torrent rumors are to be believed, it looks like they're making up for the botched Clone Wars anniversary too. Despite that, they still haven't fully learned since this May the 4th wave only contains the BrickHeadz set for Revenge of the Sith, with any other related sets coming out later in the year, which is a very dumb move since the theatrical rerun of ROTS for the anniversary will have freshly concluded by that day and it'd be very ripe to sell commemorative sets... if any sets should have swapped release windows, the Kylo Ren sets should have been later in the year since TFA was a December movie and ROTS was a May movie.

tbh not particularly thrilled with any of these for my own personal interest. They look good though! Love how Luke, Grievous, and Palpatine's faces were accomplished! Happy K2SO is in print again too.

Last year's R2+Malak spoiled me so much that I'd consider getting Chopper if it came with Bastila or Nihilus or something.

I agree. I miss the days of a whole wave of playsets, and then an occasional UCS set here or there. I like the subthemes, but playsets are my favorite, and LEGO seems to forget that AFOL's display playsets, too!

@Klontjes: The planet was called Takodana.

@Alia_of_AGL: "Every word of what you just said....was right." LEGO's always late to the game with anniversaries and the like. One need only think of last year's Sail Barge, which should have definitely been a 2023 set. And yes, playscale TFA sets would've been ideal.

Gravatar

I want that 40765 Kamino Training Facility but not sure what sets I really need/want. Frustrating.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only new set I really like is the U-Wing (although not at that price point). Chopper is nice, but I don't usually go for the buildable figures.

I'm just not into BrickHeadz and Helmets, and the large "Star Wars" logo--while impressive on a technical level--just seems kind of bland.

GWP is fun, though.

I really wish they had made some cool minifigure-scale sets for the Revenge of the Sith's anniversary.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

75406 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle 386 pieces £59.99, $69.99, €69.99 - for 386 pieces including no minifigure parts. Absolutely shocking.

But at least you can get a GWP MF that is simlar to those that appear with a £4 comic.

I quite like the logo, so I'll build that with existing parts.

Gravatar
By in United States,

it looks like the images for the u-wing (the ones with the kid playing with it) use the old hair piece from 75338.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That elaborate stash box is cool, as is Chopper. Me lo compro. Wheee!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I saw "Buildable Chopper", and hoped for One Piece.....but nope :-(

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’d be curious what the reasoning is for Jango’s helmet having stickers all around it while Kylo Ren gets prints…

Gravatar
By in United States,

You're not human, you're just a pod.

The GWPs are fine, pretty good, not bad, just not super great.

Chopper looks good. The U-Wing looks ridiculous (reminds me of some sort of unnecessary utensil for a barbecue grill).

Don't really care that much about Kylo's ship (they should've done the dreadnought or command ship). The sign is laughable. The helmets are nice. Good to see the K2SO fig back.

Yet, I am so over the moon, excited, thrilled, and motivated to buy.... the pencil case!!!!!

he has that hairpiece in all the lifestyle pictures. Wonder if LEGO didn't see his season 2 haircut until late in the game

Gravatar
By in United States,

Most of these are just sad.
Except the brick heads, those look surprisingly good.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmm. And how does it compare to the shadow box version?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't think there is enough SW I need to hit the $160 threshold. The Logo is pretty neat. I think they did a better job with this one than the Marvel one. But to not include any figures is odd. I guess most would be so common that it would only raise the price without adding anything to it.

I'll have to think if I really want to add in sets I don't care about to hit the $160. I likely don't need that GWP either, so it probably is a cow's opinion.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Won't get anything of these because:
- I'm not into brickheadz
- Occasionally I like Star Wars sets, but I don't see what I could build otherwise from their pieces
- 70 euro for 386 pieces is really ridiculous, even the Star Wars Logo has more value for money
- Why would I want to buy a logo set?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I only have a handful of Lego Star Wars sets but I'll probably get the Logo as that will fit rather nicely with my huge collection of Yoda, Darth Vader, R2-D2 and C-3PO.
I guess that means I'll get a Millennium Falcon too..... whatever that is!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wasn't expecting to need much here but I'm tempted by Chopper.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Easy pass on all of it (unless or until the STAR WARS logo drops to $40).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The U-Wing is a must for me simply for the Dedra fig, though I might wait for a discount.

I do really like the Kylo Ren ship but that price is obscene, there's absolutely no reason it has to be that expensive. It's basically all standard System pieces.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice to see Dark Helmet get a Brickheadz! oh wait, that's the emperor? Nevermind. (the Luke pilot one actually seems pretty decent)

So Kylo Ren shuttle - big black letter V - only $70.... OR! Star Wars Logo, all 8 letters included and nearly double the piece count - $70.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’ll pick up this second U-Wing for that price. I missed K2SO the first time, and I think he’s the only Rogue One character I’m missing. Maybe that pilot guy that has the temperament of a chihuahua. Was he avail at all? I can’t remember.

Anyway, gotta collect Slave 1, also! Just don’t know where I’m going to put it. I already have the other UCS Slave-1 on display, and across from it is a tiny Sandcrawler. Maybe it’s just time to move the Sandcrawler.

Gravatar

I grabbed two copies, and built one. However, having the model physically in hand where I can look at it from different angles than the photos, the proportions are off. Like in a really awkward, attention-grabbing way. I think the cockpit is too elongated and/or pushed too far forward, and the bridge section that connects it to the main hull looks emaciated. I thought maybe they would have cribbed one of the Microfighter designs, but they apparently decided those looked too realistic.

Can’t wait to get Chopper! I might have to actually place on order this year for the 4th. Too bad the GWP are lame.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This must be the best Lego Star Wars release reveal I have seen for many years.
Super excited for the new helmets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I quite like the look of C1-10P - and I've always had a lot of fun building droids, so I'm sure I'll pick that up. And I'm a fan of BrickHeadz so both of those sets appeal to me as well. However, I'm not sure that I'm so interested in this year's May 4th GWP that I feel the need to get them on day 1. The Phantom Menace set of BrickHeadz ended up getting reduced towards the end of the year, so I might just wait - especially as it provides an affordable option on my Christmas list.

I do like the look of Jango's helmet, however given my limited shelf space and the fact that I can't imagine the build experience being much different to Boba Fett's, I'll probably skip that unless I see it at a too-good-to-pass-up-price.

Gravatar
By in United States,

When I first saw the RotS BrickHeadz, I thought "day one purchase." But the more I look at them, the less I like them. Not a fan of Anakin's hair and no scar on his eye is pretty unacceptable (especially when Kylo Ren got a printed piece). The other human characters are...good...but very plain. I was happy that Palpatine could pass for original trilogy emperor, but on second thought his dark red outfit would have been more interesting and fit with the RotS theme. Grievous is probably my favorite, but even he really pushes the limit of the BrickHeadz format.
All that said, I will definitely be getting pilot Luke.

Kamino Traning Facility is probably the perfect GWP, not necessarily one that everyone wants to buy separately but still a great set with SPLENDID minifigures. I mean, how many SW figs get both dual molded legs and arm printing?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The U-Wing is a definite for me, especially at a reasonable price for a SW set. I also can’t resist the Andor series, so that would look great in the collection.

Chopper looks pretty cute as well, and it’s nice to see the Sequels get a bit of love again. Kylo’s Shuttle looks like a really good display piece but I am not getting it at that price.

Have no interest in the logo though. I find it’s lack of minifigures disturbing.

So many display sets! I wish they would have a better ratio of play to display, but sadly it seems like it's the new market trend nowadays. Hopefully, there will be more play later in the year.

By in United States,

I just bought 30708 at Walmart earlier today, and have no interest in 40765, so this'll be one May the Fourth I skip. As for the non-GWP sets, I like the touch of the swappable eyes on Anakin in 40796 that I hadn't noticed until @BabuBrick pointed them out, and if that Grievous were a standalone set, I'd definitely get it. I like 75416 too, but I'm fast running out of display space and haven't yet ppicked up 75379, so I'll probably pass on the little psychopath.

Can't believe we've got that Padmé outfit in BrickHeadz form first rather than in a minifigure. Padmé needs to be represented more in minifigure form!

BTW, could somebody please tell me what vehicle is supposed to be included in the clone cadet set? I don't understand what it is

It might be inspired by the "Clone Cadets" episode of The Clone Wars, or by something we see during the Kamino portion of Ep2, or just something that someone made up after watching those scenes. Whatever the case, it's supposed to be Clonetroopers-in-training, and some of the equipment they train on.

Okay, I gotta say that it bugs the heck out of me that they used a plate for the top of Mace Windu's head.

It reminds me of when we got 75529 before we got a proper minifigure.

Out of the 15 SW sets released this year, only 6 have minifigures and only 4 of those are playsets. This is not a healthy ratio.

Why is it not healthy? It is a reflection that many sets are bought by adults or adults and there is enough on shelves for kids to have bought for them.

It should pair with the Newer R2D2, C3PO and Chewbacca all being roughly the same scale, the old R2 will be too tall

I'll have to think if I really want to add in sets I don't care about to hit the $160. I likely don't need that GWP either, so it probably is a cow's opinion."

I'm surprised there are no SW Minifig with the Logo...adding a unique minifig(s) easily would have boosted sales of the set.

It's a KE-8 Enforcer ship. Should really have a kaminoan pilot but I'll take what I can get!

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/KE-8_Enforcer_Ship

It's not quite as obscure as the laser cutter in 8083 but it's close.

Some hit and misses here. That RotS Brickheadz pack looks amazing. The U wing looks good and has good figures until you compare it to 75155. The helmets look really great and I'm glad they brought this collection back. As well as the shuttle. And the GWP really is awesome the main thing people will want are definitely those cadets. This is probably the only set they will ever be one as well.

I think the cadet might show up in the Advent calendar.

First look at the Brickheads pack: "Why is Rey included with Episode III characters?"
Second look: "Oh, it's Qui-Gon."
Third look: "It says Padme on the bottom edge of the box!?"

For me at least, that build doesn't effectively convey who it's supposed to be.

@CapnRex101:
Looking at the May 4th promo page, the keychain pictured in this article is the GWP that goes with the new UCS Involuntary Intern I. It is _not_ supposed to be available in the VIP Rewards Center. Instead, there is an Involuntary Intern I "coin" w/ stand (like the duck, Space logo, etc. from last year) that will be up for points, which is not presently pictured here, but which can be found on the LEGO.com promo page. It's a bit annoying, since I want both, but can't spring for the set at launch (and always save older sets to qualify for the May 4th GWP anyways). Hopefully I can snag one of the keychains pretty quickly, and doubly hopefully they aren't very popular so the price stays low.

Because I think the minifigures are the most interesting and collectible in the SW theme. I buy SW sets because of them, and I think most collectors do too. Adult or kid. There are very few non-UCS sets that people buy for the build or the spaceship alone. These decoration sets for adults take up too much space from normal Lego sets. For example, only one Andor set again, only one Skeleton Crew set, Ahsoka sets 2 years after the premiere, they completely skipped the 20th anniversary of Episode 2, no original triology set for this year etc.

There are two complementary subsets of LSW AFOLs. One will buy the set and sell off the model to keep the minifigs, and the other will buy the set and sell off the minifigs to keep the model. Alternately, they'll each buy the unwanted parts from the other group. Especially when you get into the sets that come with plaques, whether UCS or otherwise, it's pretty rare that the set is even scaled to work with minifigs. Even when sets are clearly intended to accomodate minifigs, there's always the goofy stature, which some people want nothing to do with.

If I had a massive Star Wars setup, as some people do, I'd probably think a Star Wars logo would be a cool addition to it. If you think that makes me a "brainrotted" "NPC" then you're welcome to get over it.

Slave I, SW logo & U-wing all day 1 purchases - I think they look great. The new Slave I will replace the previous UCS version on display and my shelves will be enhanced by the logo.

I'm feeling a bit brain-rotty so perhaps a couple copies of each.
