K-2SO large-scale droid revealed!
Posted by CapnRex101,
Star Wars Celebration opened in Tokyo a matter of hours ago and 75434 K-2SO has been announced at the event, ahead of its release in August.
75434 K-2SO
Rated 10+, 845 pieces
$89.99 / £79.99 / €89.99
Available at LEGO.com from 1st August
Create a cool display with this detailed LEGO Star Wars K-2SO Security Droid (75434) building toy for boys, girls and any fans. This building set offers kids a rewarding creative challenge to capture authentic details of K-2SO, as seen in Star Wars: Andor Season 2. Showcase K-2SO on the stand and pose the brick-built droid’s head and arms to change up the display.
A top Star Wars fans’ gift, the set also includes a K-2SO information plaque and standard-size K-2SO LEGO droid figure to add to this striking fantasy home decor.
I published a review of 75416 Chopper (C1-10P) yesterday and mentioned my appreciation for 75398 C-3PO. This model appears equally impressive in many ways and I will be interested to build the set later this year.
What do you think of 75434 K-2SO? Let us know in the comments.

As somebody said, he has seen some *hit.
The CCBS head was infinitely better but the proportions are more accurate here.
Looks great!
K-2SO: [referring to a blaster Jyn has] Would you like to know the probablility of her using it against you?
K-2SO: It's high.
Cassian Andor: Let's get going.
K-2SO: It's very high

I am wondering since I first saw this set, that maybe the old head would fit on this... the connection seems to be similar to me... ??
Those eyes..I can feel it staring into my soul. Looks great otherwise!

That was my first thought. Well, right after thinking that I'm not a fan of his head in this set.
Even if the connection is different, it looks like it'd be pretty simple to modify so that the CCBS head would work. I'm guessing it's too small to look right, but I hope I'm wrong.
So of this is €90 with 845 pieces and a printed plaque, why on earth is the microscale Kylo Ren Shuttle €70 with 386 pieces???
stickers :(

There's a problem on the horizon.
Looks like another LAN member won't be seeing a new horizon that includes free Lego. :(
I know I've stated repeatedly that I'm against more display models. Though I do like the droid, starships, and helmets. I just wish the starships and helmets came with figs, and that they'd do more cool playsets. The ones they do are pretty basic and juniorized.
It's amazing they have Battle Droids with force fields and extremely strong, quick and dangerous robots like K-2sO models, and still went with growing and feeding clones ;)
Why doesn't he get a blaster?
Struggle to connect to anything other than the original Trilogy but some of the designs for new ships/characters are interesting, including this. But it does remind me of Basil Fawlty.
I think it looks really really good, even brick build head looks pretty perfect, maybe just adding white bars to fill up the eyes would help even more, idk.
Like I said with Chopper,
3PO & R2 are too iconic of a duo to get more large scale droids

Is it a bad thing? I mean if they are stupid enough to share things without considering the consequences... ?? Classic case of "Fork around and find out..." ??

True.
Probably a mistake. A schedules post was scheduled a day too early, I guess.
This is also the one from Rogue One, isn't it?
Regardless, I really like what I see (well, apart from the stickers), and even the price seems not too bad.
"Congratulations, you are being purchased. Please do not resist!"
Another statue.... :/
WOULD THAT HURT to make legs posable???
Curious lack of source images of the droid on the box to compare the Lego version to.

unfortunately if you want stability, then it needs to be fixed... :/ I have the old one on my shelf, and although you can put it into different poses, it feels like it wants to colapse every time... ??
Looks like they have photoshopped the mould mark on the printed plaque , as usual. This really should not be allowed. Blatant false advertising.

It's only the 8x16 tiles that have the mould mark. This uses the smaller semi-studded tile.
I now want to... no, wait, I now NEED to see this next to large scale C-3PO 75398-1!
Can't... wait... for the... review... on this.

With this type of studded plates the mould mark is on one of the studs and not on the flat surface.

These are botanicals for people who don't want flowers. It's an expanded market now that wants Lego for display.

I was thinking about that too. The angles are big, but that doesn't justify the price. €50 I would still be able to understand.

Oh no, I can’t unsee that now ROFL
I’m probably going to refer to this as Basil now. It’s quicker and easier to say too :-)
I'm finding this theme rather confusing, Chewbacca and C-3P0 were adult 18+ black box sets, but the rest in the theme aren't?
I wish the model came with a kilt.
Is this the pirate droid in Skeleton Crew?

That mould mark is edited out though, just like all of them just about always are. False advertising for sure, especially these days when they only seem to get more and more visible - in reality, that is.

True although I saw some exposed in the official ‘play’ images of the Jango Fett UCS
My favorite droid! This set would be perfect if it weren't for that awful head. I'm curious to know how the head from 75120 scales with this.
I have the buildable one, don't need this.
I’ve been loving this subtheme of buildable characters, and Chopper and K-2SO keep the trend going. Keep them coming!
Not surprised that the legs aren't bendable with how spindly they are while the build is so top-heavy. The head looks better with natural lighting as opposed to the photoshop shadows, but I still think it's bad. I did get two of the CCBS one, one for assembly and one for parts, so if anyone tests that the old head works on the new body, I already have a spare to use.
Still, it's honestly very shameful that 2/3rds of Lego Star Wars are display sets now. Remember when set waves used to feel big and have lots of options for kids?
The body looks really good, and the head looks really bad. So a Chewbacca situation.
It's good.
It's very good.
Sweet! Another way to get the K-2SO minifig.
Lego erases all the moulding nubs and marks on their advertising pictures, the more when they release a set almost entirely black. I will get it nonetheless.

In-universe inflation. 35 years between Scarif and Starkiller.
I agree that the built head doesn't look as good, but I like the minifig, and I'm looking forward to seeing good ol' Potassium Sulfate, my favorite hybrid of Threepio and Chewbacca, in Season 2. Rewatching season 1 now, and it's a different kind of good experience knowing future connections and remembering moments and plot points I had forgotten.
Buy K-2SO, the captain says you have to.
If this came with an Alan Tudyk soundbrick (and maybe a box to drop in disgust), it would be my favourite SW set in a while. As it is, it's still a must get for me.
Oh, it’s beautiful!
Star Wars became another Art/Museum theme, all those statues, buildable lightsabers and helmets and scale models (not including UCS or minifig playsets )
That said, there's clearly a market for those, and I don't really see negative with it, even while I don't collect them.
I mean, it's not like this is new to Star Wars either, models, toys and action figures existed long before LEGO adopted the theme.
Now this I like. This is such a great character.
Between this and 75416 (and the fact that I haven't yet gotten 75379), I might have to just go on a massive disassembly program of sets that are already built and on display, just to make the space.

C-3PO tells you the odds of dying because he has anxiety. K-2SO tells you the odds of dying because he's an A-hole.

The hardest I've ever laughed at anything in Star Wars is when he reminds the crew he can survive in space!
This has great Iron Giant vibes -- looking forward to seeing someone turn it into a MOC for that : )
Star Wars nowadays: 80% buildable droids, helmets, dioramas, UCS and midi-scale starships. 20% regular playsets.
I will likely have to pick this up. I haven't watched Andor, but I liked this character in Rogue One.
That’s it. WHERES HIS BLASTED GUN???
I will be there in line to buy this, Cassian said I had to!
SO excited for this set! Rogue One is a top tier Star Wars movie and my love for it grows by the year, top three in my opinion. And K-2SO is so cool! I will be buying at least one of this set, likely more than one. Will need to display this bad boy!!
About the build, its LEGO, not a die-cast exact replica, I for one LOVE it and think it looks great!

Where was the embargo broken?
The shoulder printing on the K-2S0 minifig might be my favorite minifig print of all time.
Also, what Alan Tudyk character are they going to do a buildable figure of next?

No, Rogue One/Andor, but SM-33's design was heavily influenced by K-2SO's
Honestly, disappointed by this. Google a picture of K-2SO, the proportions are all off in some way, the eyes are wrong, and the ridged pose also feels off.

I hadn't originally planned to watch Andor at all, but had recently begun thinking about giving it a shot, and now that I know K-2SO (who's in it, I'll definitely be watching it! Easily my favorite character in the movie. But then, I have a deep and abiding love for Alan Tudyk. Speaking of...

At one point, they said not to submit Firefly projects to ideas, so Wash is probably out (and might be hard to make look good anyway), so King Candy!

@Rimefang
Great point. That's kind of the problem. I love that they're doing things that we'd never get in any other form. I also love that they are making some of the UCS into glorified playsets (Barge and Slave I). But, we need more figs and more things to do with them. These are toys, afterall.
@yellowcastle
Mandr reported it was a LAN member's Insta.
I never really cared for Mandr, but I have to admit he's grown on me. Plus, he's grown up a bit. Yet, his adamant adherence to Clone Trooper apostasy is amusing.

Too good!
This buildable droid line would be a perfect place to debut L3-37 from the SOLO movie and SM-33 from the Skeleton Crew show. With appropriate minifigures too.

Don't mention the war!
Nice legs shame about his face
Inferior to the CCBS version, that one not only looks better but is also playable and not just a statue.
"I find that model vague and unconvincing."
Nah, just kidding — I like it! I think the head could've been a little better, and I think that 75120 looked better overall, but this doesn't look bad. I'll probably get it down the road, as K-2SO's one of my favorite droids.
I also echo other comments above that I find the ratio of playsets to display sets disturbing.
@calvin73 :
The Duke of Weaseltown — er, sorry, Weselton.
If these humanoid droids are becoming a series, I just have one question:
HK-47, when...? xD
With some easy modifications I could probably make it into a Jedi Survivor enemy type. Though the body seems a little off proportion wise, but I'm not sure what it is.
