LEGO has revealed a forthcoming gift with purchase on the Australian pages of its website.

40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut contains 250 pieces and will presumably be offered as an incentive in the next few weeks. I am sure it will be popular, so we'll let you know as soon as we have more information.

View more photos after the break.

Intriguing. I wonder if it's to scale with the bigger brick made minifig models?

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's a playmate for 75403!

By in United States,

Oh man. I’m going to have to find something to purchase.

Long live SPACE!

Look at that beautiful printed CS logo right there on that 2x4 tile. Just gorgeous.

Now what color scheme would use red? Maybe black, red, and TNG like a pre-M-Tron?

Do we have an actual space baby in red?

Nope. The only babies we got in red are Jack-Jack from 10761 and Grogu from 75307. Only white, pink and blue have been produced so far.

By in United States,

If it's compatible with my next PAB order I might consider it

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Adorable. I haven't gotten any of the recent classic space GWPs, but this might tempt me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Up-scaled and brick built... the only valid type of Lego figure. I like it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Good thing I skipped May 4th promos. All my money can go to getting this GWP! Just hope it doesn't sell out immediately.

Gravatar
By in United States,

why does that baby look like it is ready to get in a boxing match?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does it have a red space baby command center inside!? I think I'll also be finding a reason to spend now...

Weird distinction, but apparently the only Space Babies we’ve gotten are Blue and Pink, and then we’ve also gotten miniature adult Spacemen in Blue and White. If the eyes have white dots, it’s officially a baby scaled to minifigs. If the eyes are solid black, it’s a scaled down adult. And the bit that sucks is you can’t swap the heads independently of the helmets, so no part swapping to achieve new colors in either style.

Well, people have been asking for a brick built classic spaceman!

To use Spelljammer parlance, this is a Giant Space Baby. We want a Miniature Giant Space Baby.

Gravatar
By in United States,

GROGU. GROGU. WE NEED GROGU.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

So when is his dad coming along too? LEGO seems to have misread the request for an up-scaled Classic Spaceman by fans.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So probably a GWP if you buy a full-scale astronaut they have yet to reveal, right?
.....right?

Confirmed sticker or print?

Indeed. You’re correct. Though whatever it is a baby or an adult, they do share the same body. Hopefully, with this being red, it could be an “easter egg” for a future red space baby to come.

By in United States,

Oh my gosh, that's cute!

As someone who owns the original Spacebaby, I approve!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These guys are becoming Lego's Minions. They know what they have with the baby astronauts, now they're cashing in. I love it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lego knows Redditors and AFOLS will sell their wives, souls, and children for anything related to CLASSIC SPACE and it shows.

Look to be 6x6 at the base to represent the 1x1 original, so that should be the same scale as the big ones I think.

Ah honey, remember that you wanted a red space baby?

Yes?

It's here...

Kidding aside, looks very nice.

Its only one evolutionary step away from being a Brickheadz.

Also excited about the red version of 6302718!

TBD, but the images suggest a print.

By in France,

I hope this comes with purchasing a large-scaled space fig that they yet have to reveal. That'd be perfect.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

So they produce an upscaled version of a miniaturized version of a Classic Spaceman.

Riiiiight.

Spacebaby t-shirt?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I feel like they're teasing us before a normal CS fig gets the big-fig treatment! But I'm sure it's only a matter of time. This guy really needs a corresponding minifig-scale part, too. It's a good time to be a Space fan!

That would be totally crazy. As a collector of every single baby figure, I sure would love that. However, I think we would have seen that in the product images, right?

Upsizing a miniaturized minifigure got me thinking about scale conversion which in turn led me to Frasier Crane:

Dr. Frasier Crane: I'm hashing over an ethical dilemma, so I think I could use some black coffee.
Coffee Guy: What size would you like?
Dr. Frasier Crane: Uh, I've got a lot to ponder, so I think a large.
Coffee Guy: I'm afraid we don't have large, sir. We have piccolo, macho, mucho and mucho macho.
Dr. Frasier Crane: I see. Uh, do you happen to know what size would correspond to a Nervosa grande?
Coffee Guy: No. But our mucho is about the same as the semi-colossal over at Don't Spill the Beans.
Dr. Frasier Crane: Ah, ah, all right. I know that their colossal is comparable to a Nervosa grande, so the semi-colossal would be three quarters of a colossal, so the mucho and the semi-colossal would be equivalent... so I should have the mucho macho. But only fill it five-eighths.

Nope, white dots in the eyes signify that this is a Space Baby, not a miniature Spaceman.

Wish they showed the back. Makes me think the air tank looks off.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Okay, aAnd this right after the announcement of 21357. Darn it, Lego! Stop making me add things to my wanted list! If this is going to be a GWP, I'll probably Bricklink it, as my days of placing large orders are pretty much behind me.

At minifigure scale, that’s one humongous baby! In such a universe, I’d volunteer someone else to change its nappy :~D

If the pics above are the only pics out there, then we don't know what's on the back of the box. You're probably right, but I like to think it's still possible...

That’s what the Brown Spacemen are for, and I got a whole platoon of them.

By in Canada,

Getting '404'd here in Canada...also; is the chest/logo a print or sticker, just wondering.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My guess is this is probably thought to be a tie-in with the June 1 release of the minifigure vending machine Ideas set, which is rumored to contain two classic-style space minifigures in new colors.

I would call a Space Baby a miniature Spaceman ;-)

(Before you try to correct me, I know what you mean of course as well as I understand the difference between the Baby and the "normal" miniaturized Spaceman fig - to me they are both miniatures based on the Classic Spaceman though).

Two? I thought it was only one (the dark turquoise version).

It's definitely a printed piece, it is shown on the side of the box with the '1:1' mark as a complete one piece.

Why on earth this has to be a gwp?! This time its realy annoying for me that i cant just go and get this without putchasing anything else. Shame on you LEGO group!

Anyways, it looks realy realy good!

Almost a year ago we were able to vote for two minifigures to be included in the set. One was for Space and the other one was for Castle. So you are correct.

Maybe Lego decided to add the runners up from the vote or maybe people are misremembering the vote and think it was two of each faction.

It could also be one Space fig in a new colour and one in an existing colour?

@dollhouse @obisky already spotted the new colour space helmet in 42674 .

The contest was to determine one new color of Spaceman, and one new Castle faction. I've seen a graphic that shows Gold and Teal Spacemen, and Kraken and I think Crow shields. But you know they like to fudge the results when there's not a clear winner, or the winner isn't what they'd planned for.

Gravatar

Definitely want this, hope the spend threshold isn't too high. Wish it came with an actual red space baby though, they could have also included that in the micro command center reward set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks to @thor96 for pointing out that the logo tile is printed. If it were atickrred though, you could try and source the parts to make the baby in different colors.

I've built the upscaled CS figure using amazing instructions I purchaed from Rebrickable and couldn't be happier with the results. I've made red and black so far.

A friend in our LUG printed up the CS logo on 1x6x5 panels using a Cricut machine and it looks fantastic.

So much so that I have successfully avoided purchasing the Up-Scaled Octan fig.

Here's the link to the instructions on Rebrickable.foe the Up-Scaled CS fig:

Apparently I'm in the minority in not liking the "baby" space minifigs.
