Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 9

Posted by ,

I have only just recognised that the Harry Potter Advent Calendar follows a conventional pattern, featuring a minifigure, a recreation of a magical creature and then a magical artefact every three days.

We should therefore expect an artefact today...

I have mixed feelings about these printed Galleons. The coins have only appeared once before, in 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank - Collectors' Edition, so it is wonderful to see them again and in a much more affordable set. In addition, the printed designs look lovely, cleverly adapting the classic LEGO dragon. However, just including two printed tiles seems somehow underwhelming for a day in the Advent Calendar.

Overall - These coins look fantastic and I am glad they are available again, but I miss any kind of actual construction today.

The classic dragon is fun and all but yeah feels like having nothing to build really misses the point of a Lego calendar

Oh, friend. Can't you see? All this waiting builds anticipation, and character. Or maybe it just builds resentment. It builds SOMETHING.

Like I said with the box of jelly beans, it feels like they're using prints as a way to basically get out of having to design for this day in this calender. I don't envy them for picking a calender entirely filled with items from the wizarding world... and figs for the four houses. But I don't feel that the approach used on days like today is right.

For all the joking I did with the builds from the previous days, I actually like them for the most part. Because they're builds :)

I’d like to give my two cents on this, but that’s been taken care of already.

Wait, what's the scale on these? 2x2?
