LEGO is getting ahead of the game with its set reveals today, announcing one that won't be available until August.

The 484-piece One Piece set 75647 Gum-Gum Fruit includes two minifigure versions of the cartoon's hero Monkey D. Luffy: one with long arms and another as a boy inside the fruit. It'll cost £60 / $70 when released in the summer.

£60 for that? I know the show involves pirates but come on...

I hope they have big plans for that new mold, because it looks veeery specialized to me.

*pfft* they'll find some way to use it as a wheel rim or propeller in another Ninjago vehicle, I guarantee it...

By in United States,

As much as I like the One Piece sets, my budget leaves no room for any of them. This is not helping when the ancillary sets like this are so incredibly high priced.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Looks pretty spot-on. Wonder how solid it feels.

Priced like those little collectable helmets, which feel really too expensive for their size.

The build here doesn't look all that interesting because of the repetitive nature of it, but it does come with a funky arm minifig.

Maybe on sale.

That sounds plausible! Also as some type of leaf in a future Botanicals set I suspect.

These kind of long arms have been used before, at least in set 76076-1 from 2017 (and maybe in more sets that I'm not aware of at the moment?)

EDIT: Use the tag FLEX ARMS to see them all: https://brickset.com/minifigs/tag-Flex-Arms

Weird little set, way too expensive, but I really like the way they did the noodle arms!

By in Canada,

This is neat but it certainly is not worth $70 (which translate to roughly $100 in Canada). Even at CAD$50, this is not great value. Bases are nice but here is a set with 484 pieces of which probably close to 300 are in the base. Even looking at the base, it is very hard to see nearly 500 pieces in there.

Everyone's talking about what the new mold will be used for, but all I can think is, "fidget spinner."

Not the way I genuinely thought this was a $30 set until I saw the price tag —

Haha, a fidget spinner was also the first thing that came to my mind when seeing that new part, so I agree ;-)

P.S. I edited my previous post, concerning the long flex arm Minifigures: Last year's One Piece range already featured one and including this new One Piece set there have been at least 5 sets so far that include a minifig with long/ stretchy/ flexi/ noodle arms.

By in United States,

I think it's creative and fun, but about $20 USD too expensive for what you get.

And for those asking about the arms: they have been used for only three characters in the past: Elastigirl, Ms. Marvel, and Monkey D. Luffy. I haven't gotten my hands on any of those figures yet, but they look like they would be fun to pose!

By in Canada,

Love it! Day 1 purchase for me. I have consumed the LEGO One Piece Kool-aid! Plus great timing with announcement as Season 2 of the Netflix show debuts today! Can’t wait to see the live version. Season 1 was so good as was the first wave of One Piece sets! Bring on Wave 2!

Gravatar
By in United States,

$70 for a Fruit, that is Nuts!

I am a huge One Piece fan, but this will need to wait for a discount. $70 is a bit steep for the offer. If this was a GWP that I had to buy a bunch of One Piece sets... DONE!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

76784 Black Dahlia Flower - worked because it was only £20 but since then we have got 43288 Sally's Flowerpot for £45 and now this. I would like to see the 3 sets together to see why they are twice and three times the price of the Wednesday set!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cute but pricey. I do like that it's an alternative way to get Luffy with stretchy arms and kid Luffy with a unique expression (so cute with his mouth full!). The exterior detailing relies a lot on that new part but it works, and bluish violet is a nice change for the Gum-Gum Fruit's color.

The high price suggests they don’t, so this set needs to pay off the full cost of that mold.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’m still disappointed that they didn’t use the long flex arms for Reed Richards in the Galactus kit, at least as an option.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I saw this and thought it was an upcoming GWP, worth about £20-25.

£60 is outrageous, and i though the star wars tax was insane

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

It feels like this should be a promo set.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

A bit on the nose to reveal a stupidly overpriced set the same day you announce 21% profit increase in 2025, isn't it, LEGO?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dum dum bring me gum gum?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I do like the set, but this will need a pretty substantial discount....

But then again, I'm still happy this will be a regularly available set, as this looks like the kind of thing that would usually end up as GWP.

But considering the piss poor results announced today, I guess prices will need to go up to save the company from certain bankruptcy...

Assuming the underside if smooth it looks useful for botanicals? Or at the very least a Ninjago mech shield/fidget spinner.

Gravatar

Adding my voice to the pricing chorus in case LEGO is watching...

I originally thought "Oh great, a way to get stretchy Luffy in a ~$30-40 set." And then I saw the price... O_O

Everyone knows that One Piece ROCKS!

But this set is Monkey eating a gum gum fruit inside a giant gum gum fruit with a sign confirming that it is indeed a gum gum fruit - with no new minifigs!

Just gum gum crap. easy pass.

But people will still eat it up regardless of price and thats how they get away with it.

9676 and 40591 would like a word with you.

@Bengh_Zeran:
Mega Minion Tim uses a completely different solution. The minifig torso has a trapped arm element that slides from one side to the other in a special torso designed just for that use, but the conical wrists prevent it from coming out of the torso. MMT uses a stock Minion torso, a loose piece of what I think is pneumatic hose, and exclusive hands that have a stepped tip that allows for easy insertion. That can all be disassembled and the arms removed, if you want.

@legodachi:
Pretty sure that joke got played out when the first sets got announced.

@Trigger_:
In the US, “anime” refers to Japanese animation. In Japan, it refers to animation in general.

I assume you mean fidget spinner? Although, now that I think about it, a fidget spinner mounted on a refidgerator magnet could be mildly fun; give it a spin every time you raid the fridge.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That price is such a shame. The first wave of one piece sets were so good and (some of them) such a decent value, that they’re the whole reason I checked out one piece (the live action and the anime).
Now we get a $70 fruit.

Regardless of all the Netflix minions, the character does not look like in the Manga / Anime original.
So it is a 100 % Pass.
You won't make an asian Albert Einstein either, would you?

I guess they couldn't find an actor that looked exactly like a drawn character. So they just had to go with the best alternative.

As for Einstein, I've seen many depictions of him where he didn't look Australian at all.

By in Japan,

Having already got 73636 and 75637 on their release days last year, I'm fine for now for Luffy minifigs. Even getting 75638 for a long-armed Luffy is much better than this. This is obscenely overpriced, can easily think of loads of better sets to get for that price. Better off just making your own large scale Gum-Gum fruit MOC based off 6601555 (or even try recreating the one Odo famously recieved from Lego as a gift). But nah, feels like a Tenryuubito move to me. I'll pass on this.

Depends. If it’s a pig-themed fridget spinner, and it oinks whenever you spin it, I imagine it could be quite unpopular with people who are insecure about their weight.

This will be addressed in the next movie.

By in United Kingdom,

I stared at this for a bit before I worked out the berry is an entirely new colour, blue violet. New for 2026 but already in 12 released sets. I’m now eager to have it in hand, but possibly not from this set, which has a cool design but is pricey.

The fidget spinner part looks to me like the air bending symbol from Avatar!

And it’s the live action version, not the anime version, and it’s accurate to Oda’s intent
