Minecraft and City Square

What a day yesterday turned out to be... I spoke to Jason from The Brick Show just before he went into the toy fair and asked him to take photos of boxes so we could use them in the database. I anticipated being sent them later in the week, I certainly I didn't expect him to send them in real time as he went round the stand!

So, as a result of his excellent work many of the images appeared first on Brickset which resulted in extremely heavy traffic levels. Some half a million pages were served compared to around 300,000 last Saturday, and the CDN served about 160Gb of data compared to 90Gb on a normal day.

To wrap up our Toy Fair coverage, here are a few pictures courtesy of James from Jedi News, of City Square and Minecraft boxes. I think all we are missing now are pictures of Friends sets.

So, once again thank you Jason! Be sure to check out his videos of the sets on YouTube: there are 38 there already and I suspect more will be added today.

Great contributions by The Brick Show. Anyone else noticed Jason's new style of Lego reviews? I like it!

The City Square looks BRILLIANT!

By in United Kingdom,

I've probably missed the answer to this somewhere, but when is the City Square set available? And the new Imperial Shuttle?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

So the Ferris wheel won't be displayed at the toy fair?

By in Hungary,

A green futuron minifig, am I dreaming? :) (by the way, is that a costume shop?)
If the castle minifig would be a redesigned black falcon or lion knight, then the set would be perfect.
But the yellow jackets with a yellow skin...looks like weird tattoos on those figs. :S

By in Australia,

I love the space and castle figs on the second floor of the Lego shop! That is brilliant. That car dealership also looks pretty sweet, too. And I love the little "Coffee Chain" store. The only thing I don't like is the tram.

By in Ireland,

The zombie pigman and ghast look great in the nether set. So want.

By in United Kingdom,

With all the New York Toy Fair hype I looked at my wishlist for 2015 I found that 75% is for the licenced minifigures with no interest in the actual builds and 25% is for display models that I would never tear apart, which include:

-Detective's Office
-Kwik E Mart
-SHIELD Helicarrier
-Darth Vader
-Flatiron Building
-Double Decker Couch

...Yeah all the other sets that got unveiled yesterday I really don't care about besides the licensed minifigures. It really goes to show that LEGO is hunting for intellectual properties because that is what sells quickly these days. LEGO models and sets are getting better but some still don't stand well isolated from the minifigures. I really try and buy a set for decent display models these days; I only have the Birds so far. I'm focusing only my MOC's because nothing is better than what you want besides the LEGO Exclusives right!

Ooooh I like the tram! Thanks guys for posting the images and stuff, much appreciated:D

By in Germany,

$189,90 for the City Square? This is by far too much. For that much money I want tracks and a baseplate included.

By in United States,

Alright, I'll bite. What's up with the cactus in the pool of lava in the dungeon set? I'be been playing minecraft since B1.6.4 and I've never seen that.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@kipper147

Well, it's on a sand block, so it's still "minecraft legal". Maybe Steve put it there, or the lava pit opens onto a desert.

Or, LEGO just wanted to include a cactus in another set. Not complaining, I love the cactus build!

I'm a bit more confused about the collapsing wall which the zombie is coming through. Is that supposed to be it spawning in? Makes sense I guess.

By in United States,

We haven't seen Mixels yet.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That Nether set must be a preliminary photo, right? There's a green Zombie not included in the set at the bottom and the white bricks all strangely have "154" written on them...

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Is that me or spawner has Zombie Micromob inside?!
Wolf looks horrible...

Gravatar
By in United States,

@kipper147 Well, you CAN find dungeons in the desert just below the surface with the sand having fallen through, but I've only ever seen it twice and that still doesn't explain the lava.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm quite grateful to The Brick Show for all of the pictures and videos. even if I don't often watch their reviews. 2015 is going to be an expensive year for me...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I thought I read a rumor months ago about a new LEGO store model for LEGO retail store grand openings. Now I suspect this is the store that someone had seen.

Gravatar
By in France,

And still no news about the future of the Castle line ... :(

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

City Square looks amazing. As usual, MineCraft is completely ignored by me. :-\

@ Sebitsena: No, apparently not, but hopefully 2016 will give us something good, eh?

Gravatar
By in United States,

i want minecraft. now.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Aidypie that photo has a model in front of the box, which is the stuff you're referring to.

Gravatar
By in United States,

i also wish they would take the microbuild minecraft guys and put them in the minifig scales as baby villagers and zombies, although it look like part of one is in the spawner set...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Any idea what color the bricks in the nether set are supposed to be? Rust? Dk Red? Brown?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really hope there is going to be a video for the city deep sea explorers line.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

City Square will be 160 euro i saw on a youtube video... thats pretty much. Hopefully i'll find it for around 100 euros somewhere, because IT IS awesome with all those cars, flatbed and lego trucks.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Why is TLG so obsessed with helicopters?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I NEED THE CITY SQUARE!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These sets look great. For anyone still skeptical of Minecraft LEGO sets, although the subject material resembles LEGO in several ways, the sets contain lots of new pieces and are great value for MOCer's and collectors alike.

Everything about City Square looks great except the two buildings...a bit ironic.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I that a green Futuron minifig I see in the store window? I think it is!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am a minecrafter and i love the sets, but who's 'Alex'?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ Alex is a girl version of Steve, just a different character to be.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I really like the look of the city square, but will the tram drive on roads or will we have to fork out extra dollars to buy tracks?

Gravatar
By in United States,

desert spawners and lava pits are fairly common in minecraft on xbox one and 360, but lava is outlined with stone so frankly, it isnt "minecraft legal" but for more than just the cactus near lava. Also, the cactus would more than likely burn from the lava, and the sand would have fallen into the lava as it has gravity. As you can see, ive played a little :P

Gravatar
By in Indonesia,

Cool, I hope LEGO will make Notch, Jeb, DInnerbone, etc so we can have many minecraft heroes. Btw Snow golems DOES NOT shoot at creepers...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

city squere is city's first set with more than 1000 pices, in exeption of the super packs and the town plan set. wich should have been an advenced model set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like how Steve looks so happy with whatever he his doing, but Alex just doesn't seem to care.
I am seriously questioning why they didn't just use iron armor instead of risking losing their valuable diamond gear.
The Snow Golem reminds me of those people in action movies who carry two very large machine guns with them in both hands.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Loved the last tram as it was blue/white and very similar to amsterdams. Still this looks terrific upgrade and some fun features

Gravatar
By in Canada,

What are those numbers on the white bricks on the Nether Fortress?

Gravatar
By in United States,

LOVE the city square, but since i don't get any City i'll pass. The MC ones are nice, but I don't really get them either. xD

Gravatar
By in Canada,

This very helpful!!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Nice city square really want to get it, it's a beaut, well done Lego!!!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

The wolf looks ok - similar to the game. Also realized it's a nether fortress set. And there's a blaze. Decent sets. Also I hope it's a cheaper way to get diamond armour Steve.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Whoa dude! Totally epic! I love the minecraft sets! :P
