Image of Ferris Wheel box

Posted by ,

While we wait for the official reveal of the Ferris Wheel another image has surfaced on social media, of the box. Unfortunately it's very low resolution so we still can't really get a feel for what it's like.

However, we can see that is has 2464 pieces which is about the same at the Parisian Restaurant. We can extrapolate, then, that the price should be similar: about £130 / $160.

Think this will be nearer the £150 mark.

No mention of Power Functions on the box...

By in Switzerland,

I was told in the Lego shop that its £149.99 and doesn't come with power functions, although they can be added.

By in New Zealand,

With a straight currency conversion GB£150 = NZ$300 near enough, but I guess we'll get the usual $100 or more mark-up that the bigger sets attract if bought through the LEGO store or local retailers. Never mind. That's what non-regional international Internet shopping was invented for!

By in Australia,

I'm impressed. Also tempted to build one in muted, rusty colours for a post apocalyptic Pripyat type scene.

looks a bit bland. could have added some red to it!

By in United Kingdom,

I think the price will be closer to £149.99, but I hope it will be more like the price of 10244 Fairground Mixer.

By in United Kingdom,

@ Msanders: That would certainly make sense, compared to the Mixer.

A nice parts pack, and it is also a rather nice set.

@AddictedToStyrene - now that you mention it, the grand style but slightly shrunk scale of it does have a somewhat soviet-era look to it. At least the price might be a bit more resonable than was first speculated. Still a lot though.

I think the price will be higher, it seems to include quite a few mini figures. I like what I've seen so far.

By in Germany,

There is a "high rising roundabout" (don't know a better phrase) in the background, right above the number of bricks. Maybe a comming set? Or an alternate build?

I usually don't collect creator or city sets but i really like this one. Waiting for the price, but with ~2500 bricks i think it will be 200€ in germany. Maybe 180€ as there is no IP fee.

I had a fear of the price point being 200 but 160 seems much more reasonable. Phew!

However, the neocape articel still says that the speculation will be 200$. Fingers crossed!

By in Puerto Rico,

Let's see if there is space where to put it in my Sci-Fi home (come to think o it, it will look great in my Jurassic World).

By in Australia,

I suspect it will be 'Power Functions ready', like the Fairground Mixer, so perhaps they'll do what they did with that set and release it sans Power Functions for the early release VIP date, then later, release a limited upgrade version with the Power Functions included.

The extra cost to have the Power Functions included with the Fairground Mixer was a little bit cheaper than buying the same PF elements separately (upgrade price was $30.00 AUD, whereas separately they would cost $38.98 AUD), so I guess it's worthwhile for anyone who doesn't already have the required parts.

@Jaybee, that same image was in the background of the fairground mixer, so I don't think it's indicative of an upcoming set or an alternate build.

@MrMonsieurGreen, the fairground mixer was USD 150 for 1746 pieces, and this has 2464 pieces, so on simple ratio of bricks to sell price, this is highly likely to be $200

I'm so glad @Huw has been the first person to actually guesstimate a price that isn't so pessimistic. When people start throwing around £190/£200 I start to laugh. There is absolutely NO reason for it to be that high or anywhere near it. If LEGO think people are prepared to pay that much, they might reassess, but there's no way it should or could be that high a price. It's not a licensed property and judging by the piece count, I'd say £130-£150 MAX, is a fair assumption. Even then, I'd hope £129.99 tops.
It looks amazing, but if they keep raising their prices exponentially, then LEGO is going to reach such insane price points, we'll all just wait for sets to come out and make them from our own parts rather than splash out.

By in Czechia,

@bezley, I also hope Huw is closer to the reality than the others :) The set looks amazing and "massive" which might be the reason for us to estimate a high price.

Seeing as Parisian Restaurant is £132.99, then maybe £139.99? Guess we'll see when the official announcement is made :-) All I know is that every time I see exciting LEGO news, my bank account cowers in fear!

By in United States,

Hmm- what is that tree made of on right side of the box? It appears to be brick-built and a little bigger than a minifig, but I've never seen one like it before. Has anyone else?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@bezley: I don't think anyone has suggested it will be £200. The rumor is $200, which would likely translate to £150 in the UK. Do you really think a set with 718 more pieces than the Mixer will cost only £10 more?

@SprinkleOtter: It's likely several of the new flower stalks introduced with the Elves sets:

By in United States,

Not sure what I expected, but I just can't get excited by it. I really liked the Mixer and wanted to like this, too. Maybe it's the color scheme that's bugging me?

Gravatar
By in China,

The price in the US is $199.99, based on infos from Lego retail store.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yeah. It's $200 according to all the rumors from reliable sources.

I wish Brickset wouldn't try to guess prices.

By in United States,

Looking at the box image, I definitely like this set more than the initial blurred photo.

However, at that price, I won't be able to swing it. I have too many other D2C sets that I need to catch up on.

But per the piece ratio, $200 seems likely and fitting. I'd always welcome it cheaper though. But it is interesting to consider..the mixer looks open and spread out (read: tiny) compared to this, so I couldn't imagine this being a similar price point. This looks gigantic next to my mind's image of the Mixer.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder if it will have glow in the dark elements like the mixer? I really hope so, that was one the features that sold the mixer for me, as well as power function capability.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'd have said that $200 was optimistic and good very value. I'd have been very happy if it was anything less than that. Relieved it's not going to be $250 judging by some of the later comments.

Looking forward to the video. Not 100% sold on the colors, but the box image already looks a lot better than the image in the calendar. When I first saw the Mixer image I thought it looked like a bunch of junk - but was amazed when I saw the video of it. Can't wait to see the video for this one. I'd love to see the Carousel, Mixer and this all together, but unfortunately my Mixer and Carousel are 6000 miles apart from each other.

"However, we can see that is has 2464 pieces which is about the same at the Parisian Restaurant. We can extrapolate, then, that the price should be similar: about £130 / $160."

Price/piece ratio varies a lot based on how expensive the parts in the set are to produce. Not a good rubric to go by.

By in United States,

I am so super excited. My Mixer is still unopened, awaiting this set. Looks like the swing ride way in the background. My daughter is trying to design a swing ride like that for our fair, but seems they would make one to go with the other rides.

How many minifigs will fit into each bucket? Looks like at least 2 or 3. No idea how big it really will be. Also after making the Mixer adaptable with power, it would make no sense to not do the same with this FW. Unfortunately, I came to Lego items too late for a carousel. It would be great to see another one.

Whatever the price - luckily I've been saving up my VIP points, so it will be free - sort of. :-) Yes, my bank account cringes regularly as we are new AFOLs.

By in United States,

I like the 4957 version of the Ferris Wheel personally, more realistic looking. I don't like the extension of the cabins outside of the wheel on the new version, never seen that on a real Ferris Wheel.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I predict it will be £169.99.
I think I need to see the real thing before buying so I will wait to buy this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It looks far less outlandish than the calendar picture did. But here, it looks kind of blah... And if it costs a cent over $159.99, then no deal.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I quite like it, but then again I'd eat up any of these carnival-type sets Lego released. Just picked up a mixer to go along with this once it is released.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Haha, with slight modification I would use this for a Divergent themed moc or something! :p
In Australia its probably going to be priced around $250

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Yo_duh hopefully it means it will swing better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This looks great! I'd expect $200 given the piece count. Very glad its not trailer mounted this time around. Once I have this, I'll work on converting "The Mixer" to be a ground mounted ride as well.
