My country also has a Force Friday event, but it starts at midnight and my only form of transport are the bus and train, both of which close after midnight and won't reopen until around 5 AM. I can't possibly sleep in the mall! Why did it have to be midnight on a working day? =(
I like the redesigned canopy. I think it's time they remade the original X-Wing. Price is really discouraging, though luckily I've never bought an X-Wing before. Tough decision to make when I see the box with my own eyes. The mechanic minifigure is the least interesting to me. But I'll have to see the movie first before making a decision on whether to keep or donate it.
99,99€ ??? This ist absolutly ridiculous! Nevertheless, I 'll buy it, as all the other sets...
$79.99 or €99.99... not very similar, since $79.99 is €71.25... omg, what a rip off... for €70, in an instant, but for €100... no way no how
Is that a new helmet mold with a transparent visor attached?
A hundred euro can't be right. That's a discrepancy of about US$32 when converted.
Anyway, I'll bet that Brickset is glad to be able to finally report this 'old' news ;)
For Disney and Lego, keeping on top of those leaks would have been like stopping the sun from being hot or something.
Aaaand... dat canopy element. I wish that came out ten years ago!
I have a huge original trilogy/USC collection but if all the Force Awakens sets are this ugly I will be passing on all of them.
The black and orange X-wing looks hideous, like the uniforms of some third tier soccer/football team.
The best parts of this set in my opinion: that canopy piece (which is printed, not stickered!) and the new helmet pieces. The helmets have a built-in transparent visor instead of having it printed on the minifigure's face.
It certainly doesn't look like a €100 set.
Is the nose going to open? There are hinges right in front of the ship.
^ The hinges allow the nose to go from narrow to wide like on the real X-Wing. This technique has been used for the past few X-Wings.
$79.99!!!!!????
That has to be wrong. Clearly aimed at AFOLS and completists, there will be a ton of these on the clearance isles next summer.
Lego are really pushing their luck with these prices. I can see a lot of parents being soured on the company by these prices.
You can't compare the price directly to 9493 because this has 25% more pieces but €100 for 700 parts is really poor.
And 4 minifigures? I can see 3 and a 2-piece droid.
As many others already stated...€ 99 is just really too much.
gives me the same reaction as this

The canopy looks excellent. Prices, if confirmed, not so much.
Prices aside, the way those engines seem to split up looks pretty cool. I guess the grey outline doesn't really mark the engine intake, but is there for aesthetic purposes. That's a cool take on the wings splitting we all know and love of x-wings.
IMO, the only bad things are the design of the transport sled and the price. The rest is top notch.
As for the price, I don't understand what the fuss is about with this set. Star Wars sets are expensive. They have always been. The license is both Lucasarts and Disney.
The previous x-wing (in minifigure scale) that saw release cost 90 euro in the Netherlands. Yes, NOT 70 euro. That set had no extra builds next to the x-wing Compare that to 100 euro here.
This and Rey's Speeder are the only ones I'm probably buying. I would get the Millennium Falcon but not for $150 if it goes down 20% I might reconsider. Rey's Speeder I'm buying on Force Friday while Poe's X-Wing I'll be getting on sale.
That continues to look awesome, but it needs a few more figures and 100 ANYTHING is too much for this ship.
Makes me appreciate I'm in the U.S..... ;)
Turns out the engine design is based on concept art from the original Star Wars film. http://9gag.com/gag/aZN74y6?ref=fsidebar
On the tenth picture, look at the X-wing. The engines 'split' up just like this new version. It makes you wonder what else from episode 7 is based on concept art. They did do it already for Rebels designs.
Somehow, this makes me apreciate this new design even more.
after what they did to the minecraft sets, are you people surprised? The Nether fortress costs the same as the Mine, but contains a third less parts.
The build is really nice, it's just the colours which make me apprehensive.
It looks neat enough but for 100€... nooooope.
I saw this one for € 80
At least it's not a bunch of bley.
It certainly looks good, but it's not worth 100 euro's
I am confused how this is an official announcement as I saw this product on the shelf at Target two days ago. This and Rey's speeder were both in stock. Am I missing something? The other sets, sure, but how could I buy and build a set before it's officially announced?
I really like this set - my favourite of the new wave by far...
£70 for 700 pieces is good, especially for a star wars set, but as I've said before, they DIDN'T need that many parts to recreate it. In this whole line up there are too many sets that are above £60, we need more smaller sets. Also, the UK and US prices are good. If you look past the prices, these sets are fantastic. US and UK guys, stop whining about price, TLG can charge whatever they want. In fact, most of the sets have pretty good price per part ratios in the US and the UK.
Normally I give the designers great leeway in my opinion of their work. But the wings don't even fold together correctly.
And I realize they have to go with the movie prop for the colors, but seeing this raises serious concerns for the movie.
Orange and black looks like garbage. It's acceptable at Halloween when we all dress like idiots anyway, but for a starfighter? Nope. Nope. Nope. Maybe we'll see a more reasonably colored one in the future.
for some strange reason i read Poe Doraemon as the pilot's name....
@peterlmorris: Don't worry, only Poe's X- wing is black and orange, the rest are light grey with dark blue highlights. I think. (personally, I think the orange and black is good!)
Love it! Man, I might need to take a hefty loan from the bank though :)
@peterlmorris: The wings are pretty terrible, to be honest. They've already recycled the fuselage design from 9493, could've tried a little harder on the wings at least.
@peterlmorris and Rob42: I suspect that the actual one that appears in the film will have offset wings as well. That wont be a design flaw.
I love how the engine design takes its cue from original concept art! Just google "mcquarrie x-wing"
@pagani88: I doubt it. From the leaked photo of the full-size prop, it looks to be exactly the same shape as the regular Ep 7 X-Wing, wings folding together all flat.
Either they really couldn't make the design work as it should or the set is, like Kylo Ren's shuttle, also based on earlier concept art.
This is one of the few SW sets I'd actually really like ... but that price seems outrageously expensive. I'll wait for the Christmas sales.
This kit is sold out on Lego.com in the US.
