75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle officially revealed
Posted by CapnRex101,
Another Star Wars: the Force Awakens set has been revealed: 75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle, this time from Berlin, Germany. The set contains 1004 pieces and is priced at £99.99, $119.99 or €129.99, with six minifigures including Kylo Ren himself.
The set designer, Niels Fredriksen, is in attendance at this reveal. When interviewed earlier he mentioned that only a few members of staff were permitted to see the source material for the sets when they visited Pinewood Studios in Spring of 2014 and that they were not allowed to take photos of what they saw. Instead, some of the graphic designers returned to Denmark with sketches on which the initial set designs were based.
You will find box images after the break...
Stay tuned for further set reveals as the day continues. You can keep up live on the Star Wars YouTube channel.

Glad i'm not a die hard Star Wars fan.
These giant slabsided ships are worse than the 2nd Hobbit series of walls, as the the prices of these Star Wars sets makes the Hobbit stuff look like good value.
People should buy the Wall-E set quick as at this rate Disney will up the licence fee and he'll be £80 a pop.
Ugly!
Interesting to hear about the design process. I wonder how it will compare to the movie version.
Also, will those wings move? It's almost like there is a narrower, longer pair of wings tucked behind the main ones. Does anyone know?
Oh so thy're just sketches to be based off of? Maybe that explains why the designs suck.
Pretty sure its on the box art I saw a while ago, the small wing bits swivel onto the end of the bigger bits, making it look even more slab sided.
Binnekamp:
The wings extend upwards, as shown in the stream.
As for the movie version, the wings of the shuttle seem like they fold outwards into a V position. We see this in the second teaser trailer.
This looks nothing like the sleek cruiser seen in the trailer. The wings don't fold out which seems to be what makes this ship a stand out craft. I'll hold full judgement until the ilm is released but at the moment I am sorely disappointed by the sets so far. I think Rey's speeder may be the only saving grace.
These new wave sets seem to be a tad pricey.
WHAT...? It's overpriced, poorly designed, and has zero resemblance to the actual ship.
I'm beginning to think Disney just doesn't care, because you can't design a set off of a concept sketch!
How overpriced are these sets getting? I agree with many people about how ugly these sets look but I think we should wait to see the film. I imagine sales will rise for these sets after the film has been released so people know who and what these vehicles/characters are.
terrible.. so many exposed studs and undersides. Lego can get away with anything in this theme, just stick the SW logo and people will buy everything.
For our religious FOLs, you can use the goofy new lightsaber as a crucifix, apparently.
I'll buy this at clearance, cause I can't pass up a set if its key in Star Wars.
No picture allowed explains why there is no UCS currently. Hopefully by this time next year we will have one.
I'm beyond excited to see the new Star Wars. I wish the tiniest fraction of that excitement extended to the new sets.
These are awful and overpriced. Did the injection moulding machine malfunction and spit out nothing but bley plates for a month?
I think using some SNOT techniques on the wings would make this a far better/sleeker set. Reminds me of first run of star wars back in 1999. But that would increase the price drastically.
I think that ligthsaber is really ugly. they could mada a pice like 4640844, but with an extra stud on top and a hole. so you can put a ligthsaber through it annd on top of it and makes it realy acurate
I will get this and modify it so the wings fan out like a V.
With it's wings extended, it looks terrible. With them down, it looks a lot better!
But that lightsaber... That's TERRIBLE! They could at least have printed it so it looks like the smaller blades are attached to the sides of the hilt, not coming out the top of it.
What a strange ship... Maybe the movie will give it context.
Something tells me Kylo Ren will be the Darth Vader of these new films, since he appears on all the boxes. I want to see what the fig looks like without the helmet...
I'll buy this regardless (because, you know, can't resist) but I'm a little concerned Lego missed the mark on the design based on the glimpse we had of this ship in the movie teaser. Like a couple of others have pointed out, in the teaser the wings appear to spread in a "V" shape. And, let's be honest, it's just not that pretty. Also a little disappointed in the Kylo Ren design--seems like Lego could have done so much better with the lightsaber, and the helmet/cloak design didn't seem to translate well to minifig proportions. I give them credit for giving us both the hood up and down options for Kylo, though.
^^Theres an article I just read that shows pictures of a recently revealed Kylo Ren action figure: the back of the Helmt is Darth Vader's hemet. It would make sense that he wears a modified Darth Vader helmet as a relic, as it's shown in the trailer.
As for the set, this is my favorite of them all. I don't care for most of the other. The Millenium falcon looks way too similar to the 2011 one. I'll pass. I hear there're some great Marvel sets coming out soon, and hey, the money goes to Disney anyways.
I hope the make the light saber blade in different colours. It would be nice for making little robots. What is nice about a disappointing first wave is that the next wave will have a lot of room for improvement! I think this shuttle is actually pretty nice when the wings are extended. It looks huge!
K.R.'s got his own teeny hidey hole, too!
Pass!!
Pretty ugly looking... Haven't seen the movie (obviously), but I'd think the wings are dying to be studless.
When Kenner were putting toys together for the release of the original trilogy movies they often only had sketches to work from and there were often mistakes. Those movies, and the prequel trilogy have been around a long time now so recent sets have had the benefit of both better resource material to work from and improved building techniques. It doesn't bother me if there are imperfections with designs for the sets from the new movie - it's inevitable and part of the 'fun'. Those imperfections will be addressed in later re-releases a few years down the line which most folk will then have a whine about "Kylo Ren's shuttle again? But the last one was only 3 years ago and it was rubbish then too!" :-D
For all those saying that these are poorly designed and differ from the source material, they didn't have pictures or teaser trailers, they had vague concept art that was at the very start so was not fully conceptualised yet!
