City Advent Calendar Review: Day 22

Posted by ,

We are getting very close to the end of the Advent Calendars now and it appears that the City calendar has recognised that as today's model is significant improvement on yesterday's. The rocket looks superb in my opinion, although this is obviously not the complete model given the presence of an exposed stud.

Nevertheless, even without the second section this gift resembles the Delta IV rocket and has significant play value as a toy for the minifigures or a microscale version of a rocket. I could give some slight criticism as I think the central fuel tank would be more accurately rendered in dark orange as it was in 60080 Spaceport but reddish brown looks alright as well.

Overall - 4.0 - This model is pretty impressive considering the scale but I suspect it will be even better with the addition of tomorrow's gift!

It's not very festive though is it ? No one in the office could even work out what the hell it was either !

It is a bit strange With One part of a model. I recognise it as the booster rockets for the shuttle. I think the colour has changed over the years for the middle rocket. A more dark red or brown fits.
But it is my first round with Lego ACs.

Wow, that's... very... incomplete. If you ask me, they should have put the shuttle in first, so the gift can actually be played with before adding the booster rockets.

Those booster rockets aren't recognizable at all. I thought judging by the picture it was two Toy rockets attached to a wooden stand. Real solid rocket fuel boosters used on the space shuttle don't even have tail fins... It doesn't really resemble a Delta rocket either.

I wasn't sure what it was when I opened it. Thanks for the clarification! Makes sense now.

And the STS SRBs are white at the top, not black. Very odd.

I have to agree With the white rockets should had white top and small black cone at the bottom.
I think it is a more Legoish way to the Shuttle. May be all will be Clear tomorrow ?

If you want to get technical the center fuel tank of the shuttle launch system starts out a pale yellow color and after being brought out into the light does the foam start to get a sun tan from the UV and turn to the red brown color we are all use to seeing.

It does make a very cute addition, I might have to save a picture and see if I can make it out of spare parts.
