As reported over the weekend, cases of Disney minifigures are being found in shops already. The makeup of the boxes has been posted on Facebook. It is:

  • 4 per case: Alien, Genie, Mickey, Mr. Incredible, Stitch and Syndrome
  • 3 per case: Cheshire Cat, Donald, Aladdin, Alice, Ariel, Buzz, Hook, Daisy, Maleficent, Minnie, Peter Pan and Ursula

So, thankfully, despite the series containing 18 unique figures, there are three complete sets in a case; with just 6 'spares'.

Thanks to Sophie at LCC.bulders for the news.

Good news, still not sure why the change was needed just take out the two toy story ones we already have.

Anyone know if there is a store that you can pre-order a case of these? at a good price?

So once again, the female figures get the rarer status. In this situation A LOT of the figures will be "rarer" considing the distribution, but still. It would be nice to have easier access to the female figures, considering they are what my daughter wants AND I would like to have a collection also.

But I keep forgetting, LEGO is only for boys and the Friends is only for girls...I keep forgetting.

^Maybe it just cost more to make the girl this series and that's why they only have three per case.

@Sethro3 You didn't know? The toy story aliens are a race of females, and Stitch is gender ambiguous so can go either way (similar to how we refer to insects as 'he' or 'him' without really having all the facts about insect society). And if Mickey and Donald are meant to represent theme park caricatures, then it's common that the person playing the part is female (at least from what I've discerned from my interactions with them during park visits).

@Sethro3 - There's no way to say - with certainty - what drove Lego's choices, but I would bet it's simply the bottom line. Lego makes toys we all love, but they are definitely astute at making money.

If you look at that list above, with the exception of Mickey, the vast majority of minifgs that Disney fans, of both genders, would like most (popularity of character, Princess, etc) to have are in the 3-per-box category. Lego and Disney are aware that all of their princess lineup figs are in the '3' category.

If you don't feel for the figure and you buy them as a blind-package purchase, as they are intended, you'll end up buying a whole lot more of them (and getting lots of repeats of the 4-per category) before you complete the collection you're really wanting.

That, quite simply, is good for Lego and Disney's profits.

Lastly, as a father, I'd really like Maleficient and Ursula, to name the two figures I want the most; they are very well designed and look the most interesting to me. I am excited about exactly 0 of the 4-per-box category figures. I'd accept a Stitch, but I'd not hunt it out.

Honestly, this is one of the most evenly distributed series. . With everything 4 or 3 per box and with a full 2/3 of the set being at 3 per box, it seems fairly evenly distributed to me. In particular, Alien, Mickey and Stitch I think would be ones that many kids would strongly want, so I do not begrudge these being at a slightly higher level. It also makes sense having the super hero and villain at a bit more per box.

If that distribution is true we can all breathe a sigh of relief! Plenty of collectible minifigures such as the waiter with wine bottle + tray and fortune teller were only 2 per box weren't they? When you're trying to feel through well thumbed shop boxes to find only 1 of each it's pretty difficult when there were only 2 to begin with.

Has anyone spotted these in the UK yet? I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the Incredibles mini-figures, one of my favourite Disney movies...

How do you order a case of these?

None at Disneyland Paris, either at the Brand store or in the parks.

@brickamoo - no worries there. I always feel for the figure. I don't want LEGO to take any more money than they have to. Now they just need to lower the prices a bit and I'd buy more. Funny how that works. But I'm just one person, so my not spending doesn't hurt their bottom line at all.
