Better than Rey.
Well I love the minifigure but I think Lego and Disney could have revealed the official pictures last week.
^ What difference would that have made?
Those build able figures are really odd when they have a human head.
And they could have revealed these sets 5 months ago! I want to know what LEGO will be making in 2020?! I want to see if they are doing Ice Planet 2020!
That minifigure cloth piece looks very fragile. I wonder why both of these representations show her with a hat/helmet when none of the trailers I've seen show her with it? Why can't we have one with just her hair? And why are both buildable female Star Wars figures shown with hats covering their hair?
Dear God, that's hideous! The body's far too small for that head and those arms.
Surprise, surprise! She looks rubbish!
LEGO really shouldn't bother with making buildable figures of characters who don't wear armour. They always look terrible.
@The Brick Fan, not much it it would have helped us to see official pictures with no risk of them getting the removal tratment.
I've got mixed feelings about this figure. On the one hand, like the Rey figure before her, she's got great proportions, a nice-looking head sculpt, and some potentially useful new molds and recolors. But also like the Rey figure before her, they chose to give her headgear, and although it's movie-accurate, it makes the head a lot less versatile than the heads of the Luke, Obi-Wan, or Finn buildable figures.
Not sure how to feel about the new thigh shell (I felt like the shaping was stronger on previous figures that used basic shells mounted on the front of the leg, instead of this newer and curvier shell mounted on the side). But I'm glad it still has connection points other than the ball snap, since that's one of the weaknesses of the shin and torso shells of the previous Star Wars buildable figures.
Her new torso shell seems about as limited as the torso shells used on male characters (very specific printing and no extra attachment points), but its less beefy proportions do suit her and will probably suit future female character buildable figures with different printing. I preferred the way Rey used a basic 5x8 torso shell and a textile piece to fill out her torso, but I understand why that wouldn't work so well for Jyn's outfit.
The gun is a great and creative build. No complaints there.
Overall, it's a well designed set and I definitely hope to pick it up, but doesn't wow me as much as Rey, who remains my favorite of the LEGO Star Wars buildable figures. And it's frustrating that it shares the Rey figure's biggest fault, the unnecessary headgear.
@Space:1979: I think it's just the angle/foreshortening (and the lower body being covered by her gun) that makes the body look small. From the build it's clear that she has the same proportions as the Rey buildable figure, which are in turn the same as Finn or the First Order Stormtrooper except with a narrower chest and shoulders. Proportion-wise the only thing that bothers me about this figure is how narrow the legs look from front view, due to the shells being mounted on the sides.
Sorry Aanchir, I have taken foreshortening into account, otherwise I would have moaned about the legs too. It's all about the wholly unnatural look of biceps and hands as wide as a head on shoulders which are too slender.
It's a freak.
I like it but I will probably wait for it to go on sale. Definitely not a first day pick-up.
This is so anti-climactic, we've seem all of them!
I like the head, the torso and the gun. While I normally don't like constraction figures with human heads, for this character it works well. Makes her look as tough and hard-headed as she is in the trailers.
Perhaps that's why they went with the headgear instead of hair; makes her look tougher. And it is a cool piece also. The gun looks excellent. I particularly like the red bits in it. I think this is the best gun we got so far with any of the figures.
The female torso is nice. But what I don't like is how beefy and robot-like the arms are, while the leg coverings are so smooth. The two just don't seem to work very well. Perhaps it is just from this angle, but I find the difference jarring. Other than that nice, figure and great parts for sure.
I see Lego are revealing the weakest Rogue One sets first! Smart move, makes a nice buildup to the best ones. Like with the Hovertank and the U-Wing, weakest doesn't mean bad. It's just standard CCBS whereas the other two, as seen in the leaks, are quite interesting. Overall, it's nothing special but it's still good. And the gun is very nice, can't forget that.
By the way, does anyone else think that the face looks like a CPR dummy?
I agree with the first comment. It's still better than Rey, but only slightly.
@bacon1986: Just recently, we've seen a picture of Jyn wearing the helmet (https://i.imgur.com/EV1pu5d.jpg), so it's not like the helmet is inaccurate. If the treatment of Rey in her speeder set is any indication, the Jyn Erso minifig in the U-wing set will have both a helmet and hair included, and possibly a helmet-less variant sometime early next year.
Both buildable female figures have hats instead of hair because it's very difficult to make a non-smooth hairstyle that's both accurate and doesn't protrude too much. Rey's buns or Jyn's loose hair cast in plastic would not be fun to step on.
I feel like Lego and Disney could have released the pictures a little sooner, considering when the Movie's release date is.
I just spotted the buildable figure of k2so in box in the background of the latest Star Wars show.
Seriously, these head pieces remind me of Galidor.
My god that gun looks like nothing lego would ever make because of their 'non-violent' policy... if looks not so futuristic even but like a regular assault/sniper rifle..
I'm getting this.
I am /so/ getting this.
they really should just make these buildable figures about characters in armor, for humans in normal clothes it's just wrong...
That face...those arms...
@TSK15: That's where I saw them before! The creepy lifeless Galidor heads!
