Christmas Build-Up: Day 4
Posted by TheBrickPal,
It is now Day 4, so what are we to find in this Christmas Build-Up? Luckily, we can simply take apart the present from Day 3 and turn to the respective instruction page to find out!
An adorable puppy is our model today. Although it is a short building experience, as all of them are, the finished dog is great-looking, however I am struggling to think of what he has to do with Christmas. Did a little boy or girl ask for one from Santa and get their wish? No matter! Like the reindeer on Day 2, Mixel eyes are used again - and better yet, a hinged tail this time! A huge step-up from yesterday's present.
Overall - 4.0 - I can find hardly any fault with this model, especially considering the part limitations. Its lack of attachment to the holiday theme of the rest of the set is not even much of an issue for me.

Is that a puppy, it looks like a monkey!
^ I thought it was a monkey as well, but was promptly given a dressing down by my 5 year old daughter who informed me it was a puppy.
my vote for Monkey - now the Reindeer looked like a dog......
Looks like a monkey to me!
Ok so it's a puppy or a monkey. Either way quite cute.
As for extra parts to avoid dismantling previous builds, this is a big one. 3 parts from the boat (day 1) and 5 parts from the reindeer (day 2) - although there is a spare in the box for one of the eyes.
From the boat: msg p1x1; black b1x1w1k [x2]
From the reindeer: msg p1x1w/s-v; msg p2x2 [x2]; white f1x1r'eye' {p6029156} [x2].
Haha and I was just about to comment it looks like a Monkey. Happy I am not only one, haha!
My son thinks it's a monkey too. I'm finding it difficult to argue in favour of it being a dog :-D
Yeah, I'm definitely gonna agree with the crowd that it looks like a monkey, on this one.
I'm also in for the monkey
When I first saw it I thought monkey.
The puppy, that took me some guesses, looks good but with a bunch of colors (white ears, grey face and two types of brown colors aside from the dark grey tail). 4/5
Why don't we just call it a punky?
The votes unanimous, it's a monkey
To the monkey fraction: what kind of monkey has hanging ears?
Monkey for my kids, but really difficult to say what kind of monkey…
@ bok2, 13:30:
Monkey fraction and proud. Look at the model and tell me it's not a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capuchin_monkey
Wow a puppymonkey!
I'm going with a capuchin or squirrel monkey.
@CoffeeBrickMan: I'm showing six pieces from day 2 and two from day 1:
x1: stone grey 1x2x1/3 plate (day 2,4)
x1: stone grey 1x2x1/3 plate with male "tail" stub (day 2,4)
x2: stone grey 2x2x1/3 plate (day 2,4)
x2: open Mixel eye (day 2,4)
x2: black 1x1x1 with one side stud (day 1,4)
Looking at the capuchin or squirrel monkey I would say that today's animal is as far from a monkey as it may be from a puppy.
Perhaps it a transgenic cloned chicken.
I'm going more for dog, it fits slightly better in the Christmas theme than a monkey does.
Either way he looks cute!
@quixotequest
Both the boat (day1) and reindeer (day2) have a single medium stone grey plate 1x2, of 2 total in the inventory, so the one for the punkey/moppy could come from either.
The main point being that if you want to build all the models at the same time, you need an extra one.
Day 4 and we're up to +10 pieces over the listed inventory, 2 of which are provided as extras in the box.
This years Chinese New Year model (40207) was a monkey if that has any bearing.
When I first saw it last night I thought it was a monkey, and this morning when my mom saw it she said it looked like a monkey.
now don't confuse the issue - a Punky is a penguin

and very tasty....
puppy monkey baby .
Oh, wow, I really thought t was a monkey, but I guess a puppy makes more sense.
I was inclined to go with puppy, as it makes more sense, but the feet seem way wrong for a canine. Monkey.
