Christmas Build-Up: Day 8

The Christmas Build-Up has been pretty excellent thus far, and Day 8 is finally here; bringing us a third through the 'calendar'.

Day 8 brings us some type of grey animal. A mouse? A raccoon? To be honest, I'm not exactly sure. The proportions are all odd and the pieces it uses aren't all that interesting - though the slopes can be useful and the 1x1 tile with eyelashes is still quite rare. The tail is poseable, at least...

Whatever it is though, it doesn't have much to do with Christmas, does it?

Overall - 2.0 - Meh. This model isn't awful, but it's definitely one of the worst so far. Simply put: it's cute, but doesn't offer much. I greatly prefer the dog-monkey and reindeer from the previous days. Not one to keep together!

A koala maybe?

Koala-Faced cockatoo?

I was thinking it might be a squirrel gathering nuts for winter, although the seasonal link is fairly tenuous.

I thought maybe chipmunk - not enough tail for a squirrel.
We may have reached a tipping point on building all the models - todays has 26 parts, of which only 7 aren't in previous models (plus another 2 spares in the box):
Extras:
1x Black Round plate 1x1 (1 spare in box)
4x Black Plate 1x1 w/tooth
1x Dark Stone Grey Plate 1x2 w/fork/vertical/end
1x DSG Plate 1x4
2x DSG Roof tile 1x1x2/3 (1 spare in box)
2x DSG Lamp holder
1x DSG Plate 1x2 w. 1 knob
1x Medium Stone Grey Plate 2x2
1x MSG Plate 1x2
1x MSG Plate 1x2 w. stub/vertical
1x MSG Angular plate 1.5 bot 1x2 1/2
1x MSG Brick 1x2 w. 2 knobs
1x MSG Plate w. bow 2x2x2/3
1x White Flat tile 1x1 - round 'no. 8' [Open Eye]
At 1/3 of the way through the calendar - the models have used a total of 194 pieces, of which 49 are beyond the inventory (but 6 are covered by spares)
Additionally, the use of another DSG Plate 1x4 means you need 4x copies of the set if you're trying to build all the models from multiple copies only.

By in Australia,

My first thought was that it was vaguely koala-ish ... except koalas (from a continent in the southern hemisphere) definitely wouldn't fit with the rest the snowy-winter-themed models. Also, it doesn't have arms, and what's going on with its face?

I still think it's a koala, particularly with those ears. And it does have arms! I'm starting to think that the box and the whole premise of this set was actually better than some of the contents!

I suspect a mouse. And, well what does a mouse have to do with Christmas you might ask? Consider the story "'Twas the night before Christmas"

'Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse'

^That's definitely "not even a mouse", even if it's meant to be. In which case, did Lego succeed? My brain hurts now.

By in Ireland,

The tail makes it look more squirrel than mouse. At least we get to keep the plane and the fireplace (if we alter the fire slightly) for now.

By in Denmark,

As the creature of the day has a (relatively) long tail it cannot be a koala!

Chinchilla? Or Rocky the flying squirrel from Rocky & Bullwinkle fame?

I assumed a mouse.

It's a squirrel. Though why it's winking, I can't tell you.

By in Australia,

Actually, now you've all convinced me, I'm thinking that it was meant to be a mouse (one of those ones not stirring on Christmas night, or something).

Even if it doesn't look a thing like one. This has been the weirdest advent calendar ever.

To be honest, so far I prefer: the sailboat and the plane. Looking forwards to the dragon and house so as to buold them using my own pieces (with different color patterns).

My first thought--mouse. I can see rounded ears and whiskers, but that tail and those feet... Not a fantastic model.

By in United States,

It's a two-toed spit gibbon! To keep things rated G I replaced it's real name with spit, you guys can figure it out though :)

^^^^^
It does kind of look like one.

By in United Kingdom,

My first thought was a mouse, but I suspect that it's the Lego equivalent of a Rorschach inkblot. Whatever we see in it must say something about us...

The pick-a-brick wall at the LEGO Store in Ontario, California has an entire bin full of the eyelash tile.

I thought it was a mouse. But who can be sure?

By in United States,

That...is...disgusting

lol it might be a koala thing, maybe Legos rioting against GMOs and selective breeding?

@CoffeeBrickMan I've been trying to display as many models as possible with two packs. I have had 5 models displayed most of the time (sometimes with creative use of the parts left (substituting colours or making larger plates from smaller plates). We are now heading to a run where many of the models are parts exclusive
