Star Wars Advent Calendar Review: Day 15
Posted by CapnRex101,
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is now being released in cinemas around the world and I am hoping that the Star Wars Advent Calendar will celebrate that. The Prequel Trilogy has offered some excellent models over the last five days but it would be nice to return to the era of the Galactic Civil War today.
The Tantive IV fits the bill perfectly! This famous vehicle has never appeared in an Advent Calendar before but it has been worth the wait as the unusual design has been recreated quite effectively using just sixteen pieces. Many of the major features are present including the conical bridge structure and engine bank, although the size of the latter has been reduced due to the limitations imposed by the small scale and there are just six engines rather than the eleven seen in the film.
I am impressed by the accurate proportions of the model as the Tantive IV is relatively narrow throughout its entire length and this design is therefore quite faithful to the source material. My only suggestion would be that the bridge section is a little too wide and could have been rendered more accurately using a pair of white fez elements. However, this is a minor issue and I am very satisfied with this model on the whole!
Overall - 4.5 - This is a great model and an appropriate celebration of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

I hadn't appreciated the Rogue One connection. Nice touch!
I have to agree that the bridge is too wide, though 2 1x1 round plates on each side would have done the job too.
This is a fantastic model!
I like this little build and also appreciate the useful parts included. This gets a 5 out of 5 for me!
The Planets Series model uses the fez elements for the bridge, and that's a larger overall model. Even two 1x1 round plates would have been more in scale than the cones. Still a good model and interested in seeing where/if this ship plays in Rogue One.
Great depiction of a famous ship. Very happy with this model. 5 out of 5 rating for me.
Easy to recognize. Have to agree on the bridge part
75011: Tantive IV & Planet Alderaan, actually has a larger scaled Tantive IV than this and uses the white Fez piece as suggested. still a very nice mini model for an advent calendar.
An off topic question, but does anyone know how some YouTube reviewers are getting all the Star Wars and Lego Batman Movie sets early?
Love this, great to be back in the classic films again!
Anyone in the USA find the new Star Wars legs sets, or is it just Asia and Europe? Would love a Y-Wing for Xmas...
Nice Connection to Rogue One ! I went to see the Film yesterday Day Night here in Switzerland at the Midnight Premiere and am therefore more than satisfied with this Model. 5 out of 5 from me. Apart from the Venator Class Star Destroyer the best Minimodel so far. Got all Star Wars Advent Calendar since 2011 so far and this is the Best One overall
Nice. It feels skinny but that might just be the really wide bridge section.
Would the fez piece fit where the cones are for the bridge, or is it too wide?
Love this model, easily my favourite one so far.
At first I thought the design wasn't really good, but after a while it is really good.
I love this little build and it's at a reasonable scale to display with 75055 to recreate the famous opening (or closing!) scene.
Absolutely loved this one! This year's Star Wars calendar has been consistently great. :-)
