Star Wars Advent Calendar Review: Day 17
Posted by CapnRex101,
The last couple of days have been focused upon Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and that theme seems likely to continue today. With just over a week to go until this year's calendar comes to an end, I am hoping that the best it has to offer is yet to come.
The GNK power droid has appeared several times before and undergoes a minor alteration with each new release. This latest model has a rusted reddish brown colour scheme which looks quite effective and I like the texture formed using a pair of 1x2 grille bricks and 1x1 cylinders. Furthermore, the medium dark flesh elements contrast nicely with the other shades of brown and this gives the impression of worn metal plating.
It is also worth noting that the useful 1x1 round plate with hole is used in black and light bluish grey so there might be some value in disassembling today's model. Spares of each one are included as well.
Overall - 4.0 - This Gonk droid is not hugely exciting in my opinion but is a considerable improvement over the previous version which appeared in the 2012 Advent Calendar.

Loving these reviews! But our household *was* hugely excited by our new Gonk droid. Data delivery on these things, at a whopping 2 mph, is much faster than the US Postal Service...
I love the Gonk droid!
It looks really good!
This power droid looks great. I like the detail and texture added. And to have lots of round plates with the hole is a big plus.
Looks great.
I actually love this, but didn't even use the 1x1 round plates with hole. I swapped them for standard 1x1 round plates straight away - the holey ones are far to useful to be hidden away like that.
Out of the 3 Gonks i now have, i like this one the best by far.
One thing i could not make out is that. Is it so that it has an 1x1 brick sized open hole on one side?
^ that "hole" is actually filled by a pair of dark brown 1x1 round bricks.
^I had only one dark brown round 1x1.
I prefer the GNK droid from the UCS Samdcrawler. I guess you can't expect printed tiles with an advent calendar though?
Decent!
If this were in a grey version, I would like it a little bit better.
