That ships looks like it came right out a Juniors set.. Same as with most of the (Marvel) Super Hero sets: Great minifigs, disappointing build.

By in United Kingdom,

These are terrible. Great figures but far too childish. Dang. It's been a poor year for the Lego MCU sets.

By in United States,

While the sets look pretty interesting, and about the sizes I was expecting, I'm concerned about the price points. I don't think either of those sets looks big enough to justify a $49.99 price, much less the $59.99 price.

By in United Kingdom,

Great looking sets, can see myself getting both of these, if just for the minifigures.

Also... did you just accidently reveal an upcoming set? Could have sworn I read 'Justice League Nightcrawler' before I clicked the break....

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

dissapointed!
the sets looks really low in partcount, and they look to fake.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Arena Clash looks too basic but the detail of the minifigures looks fantastic! I love all the new moulds, might buy some of the new pieces to make customs if any become available on Bricks and Pieces still longing for the day they make those power blast pieces available :(

By in United States,

I do not see $50 for the top set, the "Mediocre, Evenly Sided Battle on the Outskirts of Asgard." The minifigure selection for both sets is fantastic! But I don't see anything I liked besides then. The gladiator set looks like it should all fall apart like most other sets with Hulk in it, with the use of so many wall panels in the "ring."

By in France,

Just for the minifigures .I think that the coulors are too flashy for a Thor movie and the builds look rather disappointing... I will maybe get the arena for Hulk

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I feel like lego needs to stop with this 'throw amazing minifigures into sets that we know are complete, utter garbage just so that people will still buy them' trend. As a higher evolved life form, the fact that Lego thinks that this is acceptible and that we, as consumers, are stupid enough to buy these poorly designed sets, deeply insults me.

jeff goldbloums minifigure looks nothing like jeff goldbloum

By in Finland,

Interesting sets. Asgard battle set looks better for sure, I like the flying saucer. :) Hela figure (do I see his name right?) is amazing! Bruce Banner and Valkyrie are no worse at all.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Very disappointing, especially that arena build.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I was just thinking superhero sets have really improved last year, and ten I saw these monstrosities.
The ship in particular had so much potential, but I can hardly bear to look at it.

The Spider-Man sets aren't great either, but I'l probably end up picking up the truck for Iron Man.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@TransNeonOrangeSpaceman : Her you mean. Hela is female, played by Cate Blanchett in the upcoming movie.

Guessing whoever posted the prices on these got them wrong, as these look more like £20-30 sets. That said, I still like them. They look just like the trailer footage.

By in Puerto Rico,

Vela headdress is fantastic and is that a Sakaraan (the ones with Ronan) I see on the Arena set? Great minifigures but I won't be buying any from this particular line.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@GrizBe most correct. People don't need to thrash LEGO for just working with the provided material

Gravatar
By in Australia,

As others have said all the effort is in the figs, and pretty close to no effort in the rest of the sets.
At those price points, pretty expensive just to get a hand on the cool looking Hela figure, and awesome looking Hulk

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It's kinda typical of a lot of sets these days, for me at least. Great figures, terrible sets. I love Hela (and the giant wolf would have to be Fenris). But that's all Bricklink-able.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Storywise for the movie, implying that Valkyrie helps Thor and Bannner as they escape Grandmaster and then on their way to try and defeat Hela in the final action sequence of the movie.

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

Looks bloody awful

Gravatar
By in United States,

Honestly, I like them. I think the arena has a nice overall look, and it would be worth $40-$50. The Ultimate Battle for Azgard I like slightly less, but it's still not bad.. The figs look great and the build isn't bad.

Gravatar
By in United States,

YES!! Finally! Looks incredible!! Must haves!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not liking that Valkyrie. I'd have preferred the blonde version

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, some of the contents look pretty bad. 76084 is okay, though. May get it! Added to list of tons of sets that I'm still planning on buying... eventually...

By in United States,

Don't really understand all the griping about the sets being too childish… I mean, not only are they for kids, but the ship and wolf in 70684 look brilliant! The wolf gives me LEGO Vikings vibes and the ship is a unique take on the idea of a "flying saucer". Sort of gives me a https://brickset.com/sets/6939-1/Saucer-Centurion vibe. Plus, if I have one gripe about 70688, it seems like it's disproportionately LOW on play features for its size… it feels like all the fancy decorative bits of a Ninjago spinner arena without any spinners. Perhaps there are more play features hidden in or behind that back wall; as it is all I can see are the falling columns.

The bright colors are kind of surprising for movie-based Super Heroes sets, but fit with the flashy neon aesthetic of the Thor: Ragnarok trailer, posters, and logo. And the arena in the movie does have these same sorts of red and blue patterns, albeit a bit more washed-out. I don't think LEGO has any colors that would have been more suitable for this arena wall. Dark Red and Earth Blue would be decidedly too dark. If these were Star Wars sets and all the red and blue and yellow were replaced with light and dark grey, I feel like a lot of the whining would swiftly evaporate.

Not really keen on picking these up, since I'm not a Super Heroes collector and not keen on going down that rabbit hole. But I think the designers did a pretty good job here, and a lot of the complaints here feel like the usual pretensions of insecure adults who are still ashamed of enjoying a children's toy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ Agreed. I think these are a must buy for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The first set looks amazing, the ship looks neat but the minifigs are beautiful...

Gravatar
By in United States,

@toc13 not sure what to make of comment, mini figure is not blonde in movie, and its kind of awesome that marvel cast a black woman as guardian of dead Norse peeps.

From a design perspective, the arena seems to clip together, like the raptor pen from Jurassic World, and makes expansion easy with multiple sets. Would not be hard to off load extra hulks, or for that matter, pick up bricklinked sets with no minifigs for cheap.

As a design feature I really liked as a kid how you could link up different castle sets... much like the smaller batman sets all link up today.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The ship looks fine, but the other set looks like it's worth 25 dollars max, not 60.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@MrLEGONinja this is exactly why Lego puts out sets like these. Why invest so much time/effort/money in producing/designing these sets when you know the customer is going to buy them regardless of the quality...if they did it would equal less profits.

Looking at the MSH and DCSH themes since their launch, a vast majority of the builds are fairly bad. Glad I'm not a completionitst for either of these themes.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

awesome figures! and the sets are... fine
the style and colour fit what I've seen in the trailer so far, and I'm really happy to finally get a Bruce Banner minifigure. the sets are overpriced, so i'll probably get them when they're on sale

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I like some of the figs (Bruce Banner, the new Thor with his helmet) but most of the figs (that Hulk looks pathetic compared to the hulk I already have) and the builds are crap.

If the Bruce Banner parts or the Thor bits (especially that helmet) show up on Bricks & Pieces, I will be all over it. But they are licensed parts and those don't appear on Bricks and Pieces most of the time.

Gravatar
By in United States,

With @aanchir, I think the wolf looks pretty good. I am also curious about some of the bits on the arena. Why the gear tooth posts? Is that for 'spikes' or is it a play feature? Why the white clip on the left side? Curious if it connects to another set or if that is just to clip a sword to or something.
I like the Hela helmet - surprised they made that one. My son will want the arena for Gladiator Hulk alone! I am also glad the finally gave Thor a helmet!

Could be better? Sure! Terrible? Nah. Plus, unlike the Doctor Strange set, they may even have the right characters (I missed the Cthulu creature in that film).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Minifigures are AMAZING. The builds are....meh

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Thor looks SUPER AWESOME, the buildings are lame.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

also, the arena should've used a lighter blue. perhaps medium or dark azure

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

When I was a kid I would've appreciated the arena set for all the wall structure it provides - my taste in sets was always half about the set itself and half about what the pieces would let me build. I could see this one doing well despite appearing feature-light compared with other sets of its size.

The battle set looks a bit light, but you get a swooshable ship and lots of characters in the box, so again, I could see it doing well with the kids in the target audience.

Re: the prices, remember that you always have to increase your mental pricing gauge for licensed sets - something that annoys me, don't get me wrong, but I'm not very surprised by these prices.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

The arena clash is very underwhelming. It could have used an olive green - dark red color scheme, and some glasses in front ot the throne, like in the trailer. The battle for Asgard looks better, though.

I guess children will love the sets, unfortunately I don't see many play features.

Gravatar
By in United States,

NOOO
I MISSED THEM!!!

Gravatar
By in France,

the arena in the movie looks more like sand green to me.
at least 6 figs for 50 bucks is pretty good, may be worth it at a discount.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

That's some terrible choice of colours. Primary blue, red and yellow? Just awful. Sure, they nailed the minifigures as usual (Thor's helmet and lightning eyes, Hela's mask and Hulk's armor are the highlights) but not to the point of making me wish these colorful Juniors shit.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Huw, over 10000 peoples have seen the pictures.

Gravatar
By in United States,

People, I understand the hate, but as Huw says, these are not from a public source, so the probably aren't the official images. Perhaps the real sets will turn out better. I may have missed the images, but I'm sure the official pictures are better. And even if these are the real images, then we can modify the sets to more accurately depict them.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They were the official images but not from a public source, hence the caution.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Shame. I was hoping the sets would be great. :-(

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Anyone take screenshots? ;) I missed them :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like both of them, but I think I will only buy the Hulk vs. Thor set. That Bruce Banner mini figure is pretty cool though. Perhaps an aftermarket purchase for that figure is in order.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

(I found them, thank you brickset and brickfan, and google images) ;)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@magyarhammer - I'd not seen any of the trailers so had no idea of casting for the film. No problem with their choice. As you say, it's cool they've gone in that direction & there's nothing restricting the character so a taken opportunity for diversity & representation is a good thing.
My comment was more that I'm used to & like the version from the Defenders & Lady Liberators comic. That look in a minifig I'd have picked up, this one I'm not fussed by

Gravatar
By in United States,

oh, my bad, seems kind of a shame then. Sorry Huw. The sets are a disappointment, really. Everyone was right, these are bad sets with good figures. But I'll keep my hopes up and see if a public source disclaims this info. If not, I guess I'll get the minifigures and then there are the Guardians of the Galaxy and Spiderman Homecoming sets which are better. I wonder if they are putting more efforts into their movie sets or the Last Jedi sets

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is that blood on Thor's chest in the arena set?

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

TLG is probably trying to clear the excessive blue, red and yellow bricks that are overflowing in their warehouses. :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

the Cleveland Browns are better looking then these sets

Gravatar
By in United States,

The minifigs are fantastic (except for the hair/helmet pieces on Loki and Valkyrie, not accurate to the trailer). The arena... looks like a kinda crappy fan build. The battle for Asgard one is better, but that ship should be better done than that. Can't see either justifying a $70 price tag.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huh, in the Guardians of the Galaxy sets the foot soldiers are called Sakaaran, but here they are Sakaarian. I wonder which one is canon.
