By in United Kingdom,

I like it and all, but they're running out of ideas. The fact that this set is almost reliant on purchasing last year's train is also going to be a major turn-off for a lot of folk.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I do like the bus, although I think I'll have a go at building it in a different colourway, probably with earth green as the main body colour.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Was hoping for the rumored ice rink but this is a close second place. The bus is the highlight.

Gravatar
By in France,

I really like the look but it seems to be a simple structure. I hope Lego will produce santa's house or a mountain Christmas hut. At least they didn't increase the euro price ;)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Probably going to buy this, but I would have to have a good look of the interior before I do. Really like the station (at least how it looks from this angle), but I am not too fond of the colour scheme of the bus.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Speed champions fan It's still coming. ;-)

Very nice looking set! However, I wish I had the train to go with it. That's the deal-breaker.

Also, I didn't know the Winter Village was somewhere in Ninjago. There's Misako! :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

Meh. I don't own any trains, the building is small and yet another vehicle. This is the least appealing winter village set yet.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really like this and will get it, as it goes back to the original WV sets if being a building.

For anyone who doesn't have last years train and think it will put them of buying it, i would just dispense with the rails and have it as a bus station.

Finally its a great price in Germany (€) compared to UK (£).

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

I like it, good size fitting the WV theme and reasonably priced as well, and I have the train... must have :)

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

I have never been interested in these sets but that is just me as I am sure everyone has a particular set. I love that bus though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They better still have the train in stock when I buy this

Gravatar
By in Germany,

It'd be nice if they make a 2 in 1 of last year and this year's set with power functions for the train, I couldn't justify paying that much for the train when it doesn't at least have the motor.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Now I ask you should I or shouldn't I work for LEGO? I cannot get over how close my set is to theirs! I have a bus stop, they have a bus! I was going to enter this on LEGO IDEAS ---- oh well!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Glad to see it comes with a winter village replacement bus service for when we get the wrong kind of Lego snow on the tracks :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

only 5 minifigs, small, and $80. not a great value

Gravatar
By in Norway,

hmm. It doesn't really look like it contains 902 pieces

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is so disappointing. I didn't like the train at all, and this set is really unattractive to me. And a bus?! Really? I think this is the end of my winter village collecting, if this is the best they can come up with. At least they did well with the Friends winter sets. They are a great substitute. I always hoped the winter village theme would have an ice rink (apart from what's in the bakery set) and some kind of house/chalet. Since they did it with the Friends line this year, I'm content. Those are far nicer than this confused train station. Who takes a bus to an old fashioned passenger train?!

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

Our national post office soaked up all the winter post office sets in the local market. (to offer as a present to their business partners)
I am afraid, our national railway company will do the same with this...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That UK price has to be a typo, right? It's HIGHER than the Euro equivalent? For example the recent London Bus is €119.99/£109.99.

It's happened before. In fact it's been happening a lot recently, and they've been correcting it after the press release.

My guess is it's £64.99, not £74.99.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think this is a very nice addition to the Winter Village Lineup. It's a bit smaller than other sets, but that makes it easier to obtain for everyone. I think the price was the limiting factor in the size of this set, but the quality and the details of the model are well done.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It's clear these D2C Winter Village sets are targeted towards the younger crowd, I will no longer expect anything too complex or exciting from this range. I'm sure it will be a great set for the kids during the holiday season.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

:D (what @huw, no emoji support!?)

Didn't build the train last year, so looks like double the fun for Advent this time around!

And considering that they did triple set-packs for summer and three double sets bundles for Ninjago movie, wouldn't be surprised if they offer a discount on train and station as the holidays approaches.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Kind of small, will have to buy two. But I like it. I've been using the City Station in my village and I like the size of it, but the theme is a little off.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I didn't get the new train, but my classic Emerald Night will look great next to this little station.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Mr Hobbles, blame the Brexiteers for the price hike.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Called it!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like it. And am happy it's not a rehash of a winter village set that's gone before.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes, it's a bit small, but I think it's probably appropriate in size compared to the toy shop, post office, etc. I think it's a nice addition to the village.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Mr Hobbies - I am in Italy at the moment where I have been laughed at for the rate our currency is being devalued. In the exchange places here you now get less than a Euro for each full pound you convert. I suspect the price given by Lego is completely accurate and done to reflect this slide.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Huw - so the price 'is' accurate then :(

I suppose LEGO have to think about the slide in exchange rate and where it'll likely be in a few months too

Gravatar
By in United States,

It looks nice enough. I feel like there was a unique charm to the WV sets that's started to disappear, though.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

@TheBrickPal Misako? If you you mean the old lady with gray hair you are pretty far away, the torso is not what misako is usually wearing, the glasses are a wrong color and there should be a white line in her hair. But the hair mold and rest of the head print is pretty accurate.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think it looks fantastic - totally fits in with the Winter Village aesthetic. I'd go so far as to say it fits in better than many recent sets: WV Cottage was too big, as was the WV Market; Santa's Workshop was a stylistic departure and the train was completely out of kilter - so much so that I didn't bother buying it last year, the first set I skipped. Will probably have to get it now !

What I particularly like are the touches that further integrate it: the postbox with the post logo from 10222 and the name of the station. The fact that the set is called 'Winter Village' for the first time since 2013 (ignoring 10249) encourages me that there is more mileage left in the theme after all.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

So LEGO can make road signs after all... Only this time they put them on the wrong side of the road, facing the opposite direction so the poor driver can't see them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Even though it's printed on the back of the box that the Train 10254 is not included ... past experience tells me December 26th will arrive with loads of parents weeping to the LEGO facebook page how they ruined their Christmas because there's no train in the set ... and their kid is ... devastated!!!!!(!!!)

Mark my words ... people only 'read' pictures these days :-D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not going to get this one because I only have the winter cottage unless I suddenly get the train

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Huw A price hike that completely flips the ratio?!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think people are being very generous to this set. Doesn't look like 900+ pieces, lacks much of the charm that previous winter sets have had, only 5 minifigs and is too expensive. A train station without a train? Nah, first winter set I'm inclined to miss.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is nice! Great compliment to the Winter Train. Can't wait to put both together. Should be a fun Christmas build.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I understand it probably fits with the size of last year's small train WV set, but when I put my Emerald Night and custom 2-8-4 Berkshire (Polar Express) train next to it, it will be dwarfed. I was anticipating a train station this year, but I think I will have to MOC my own after all. Now, I just need to find some time to get it done before Christmas.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wonderful! Need this! I skipped several Winter Village in there, last year's Train being the first one I'd bought since the cottage, but this will definitely be on the list.

There was a an "Expand the Winter Village" competition some years ago and a train station won that one--nice to see Lego following up. One of my favorite runners-up was a church, but I suppose we'll never see that (nevermind that churches are kinda associated with Christmas and all...).

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like it; fits to the Train like a charm. Only 2 gripes:
- The use of stickers?! I've bought the WV-sets since 2014, and don't remember any stickers in the previous sets?
- How the barriers are made to hinge is a little bit simple and (me thinks) prone to let loose.

@Clone Commander stone: I'd gladly help you to get rid of that Cottage! ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm confused why folks are turned off by the lack of a train. I've yet to see any Lego set that included both a train and a station! The Lego City train stations have never included a train, nor have the creator trains included a station. Why would this one include both? [especially after they sell a separate WV train from last year that you can buy!].

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Brick_Knight Yes, I knew what I was talking about! The head piece IS pretty close, and the hairpiece is about the same. However, I think you underestimate her ability to change clothes! :-)

Of course, all of this is joking. Carry on...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

This will go great with the Winter Holiday Train set from last year really happy that this is an expansion of that set( not so great for folks who didnt purchase the train last year I can see how that would be a turn off if I hadnt purchased the train I may have felt annoyed by the need to shell out more for the "expansion")

I'm new to lego in general so any WV set is exciting for me. I could see expansion sets to create a winter town that the train could go around? that seems like the direction TLG might be hinting at... Especially if people like me missed out on all the winter sets from previous years. However I hope they dont start doing expansion sets
across all themes not too impressed with the creator modular series but I think 2018 already seems be the year of the re release really hope that Harry Potter rumour is true also fingers crossed!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I actually really like this, and I'm happy it's an original building... the train and Toy Shop re-release really didn't do it for me.

Are there pictures of the bus or building interiors? I haven't found any.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Kinda disappointed not to see any of the new scarf pieces.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lacks that special Christmas magic.... build seems bland and lacking in detail. All seems a bit flat and uninspired. The bus is the best bit & seems very Maltese in both design & colour scheme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@eMJee83 the Bakery and Post Office both had stickers, though only a few. The others may have too, I don't recall. I've never understood the whole complaint about stickers. Other than back when they were rotting in the early 2000's (I'm looking at you, original Sopwith Camel!), I'm generally fine with them. One major exception being the Red 5 X-Wing canopy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another set to complete my winter village!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ha, just noticed that station is actually called "Winter Village"--I had no idea that was actually the town's name. Very cute.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I quite like this set. Unfortunetly, I don't have any other Winter Village sets, nor do I have the space for them.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I suppose this means we won't be getting a Modular Railway Station any time soon :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks very lazy

Gravatar
By in United States,

I didn't get last year's train, the first winter set I passed on. I may have to reconsider that now....although as our youngest will be 11 months in December I'm not sure where I can put a Christmas display that will be out of reach...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Last Year's Winter Holiday Train (10254) is available from John Lewis website - I thought it was already discontinued. This could mean that this station set might not prove quite so pointless for a lot of people after all if the train can still be obtained.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set looks really cool and for 79.99 dollars im sold. Still wish we got something 10235(winter village market) again.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@ Mr Hobbles: The Ninjago Water Strider is £39.99/$29.99 USD. The Mobile Jungle Lab 60160 is also £39.99 but $59.99 USD. If you're looking for some sort of comsistency in Lego's pricing, you're going to be very disappointed.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The interior is what let's this set down in my eyes. All the past Winter Village sets seemed to be crammed full of detail. This just seems a little Spartan.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love this! Much better than recent years. Back to the old style buildings, rather than jumbles of little bits. To me this is the embodiment of Winter Village! Compare to the first 4 WV sets, this one will fit right in.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A little lacking on the interior, but considering I have last years train, I will likely be getting it.

I've been looking at the picture though and am curious: is that newspaper tile in front a new print?

Gravatar
By in United States,

It seems really expensive for its size and the fact it requires the additional purchase of the train set to complete it. Just my initial reaction when I saw it...

Gravatar
By in United States,

*Train Sold Seperately

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally! I can't believe it took them this long to release a WV train station; it's been about 10 years since the first holiday train. That being said, it's a bit underwhelming. Doesn't seem like they put nearly as much thought into this one as the earlier Winter Village sets. At least they've kept going with it though. I was afraid Santa's Workshop would be the end. This will be easy enough to mod.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Oh yeah!! This is perfect. First thing I did when I bought the Winter Holiday Train was to un-Winter Holiday it into a regular everyday steam train. Looks like I'll be doing the same for this!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Should I buy ten of these or one UCS MF?

Decisions, decisions...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess this pretty much rules out the chance of a Modular Buildings train station this year....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wish I could say I loved it—but it is okay. Only the WV Post Office do I have less enthusiasm for.

Had the coffee shop interior been better designed —something along the lines of the little café in Assembly Square even if not quite as large—it could have won over more of my enthusiasm. It's a bit small like most WV buildings—yet totally beats out the lame train platforms that have come with other train sets, like last year's set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

People have been asking for a WV train station, it's scaled to other WV sets, has a nice looking build and a decent price to boot. So can someone explain why it seems like no one's liking it?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Coson - it just seems a little bit dull in comparison to the others.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was done with the WV theme as I have enough sets to fill up under the tree, and I thought the holiday train last year would finish it up. But I find that since I have the train running around the tree I rather need a train station for it. But THIS year will finish up the theme for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Should this set include 8 straight track pieces in order to complete the circle we had in the previous set? Kind of a disappointment if I can't complete the circle..

It would have been nice to include 8 straight track pieces given it looks like a small set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@CM4Sci
Ah, and you were so sure this was the big Lego reveal! Oh well, 50/50 chance, could've happened to any of us.

Kidding, of course. That's still my favorite response to the initial teaser

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Well, it's ok... But not worthy of the expert label IMHO. I was already building a WV station based on some excellent designs others shared. I will get this but will combine it with what I already came up with. Ever since Santa's Village, I feel the sets need a little something extra to really stand out. These last 3 (excluding Toy Shop re-release) seem a little small and simple. As stated above, the train barriers are particularly lazy. Great parts though. Is that a recolour of the microphone on the chainlink fence?

At least this is spurring my creativity to modify the sets rather than leaving them as is...

Gravatar
By in United States,

A train station without a train? What madness is this??

Gravatar
By in United States,

Disappointed. Not in the choice of model, but the execution. The building is kind of small and pedestrian. I don't really care for the bus at all. It's a train station...who cares about a bus? I'll probably buy it anyway because I have all the others. But the station should be one of the biggest if not THE biggest building in town. Maybe this is just the "end of the line" so to speak. The well has officially run dry.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I don't know why everyone is whining.... I am exited! High too, but that's another story.

I WANT THIS SET!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like it, but it's TINY. Look at the pictures on LEGO.com, very tiny. Plus the track is useless and just wastes $10-15 in price. It looks nice but no indoor seating? If it were $60 I'd buy it, but as it is I probably just make my own.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love this! I think this is a great addition to last year's Winter Village set. I can understand a lot of the negative feedback, but I for one can't wait to set this up in my growing village.

Gravatar
By in Czech Republic,

to Mystical_Møøse

so what? They got you on a hook - the plan might be that you should never rest peacefully what the next winter is going to bring.. who is to know whether the next winter could bring some "crappy" winter bus central station or train depot :)

I like the design of the box very much. Even when its not mentioned in the review, I want to believe that the tracks are the standard format and not something special.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Been a bit of a down Lego year -- my eleven-year-old is losing interest, nightmare!

But this is a lovely set, already looking forward to getting our Winter Village sets out again.

Is it Xmas yet?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^Down of a LEGO year?! Saturn V, Fishing Store, Ninjago Movie, this, TLJ, and of course the biggest LEGO set ever. This is probably the best LEGO year in years, and arguably ever!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just did a search for train stations on out trusty Brickset: Since 1996, Lego has released 5 minifig scale train stations. None has included a train.

Also, the price per part ratio is decent, especially considering the inclusion of 4 straight rail pieces. Not Ninjago Movie fabulous pricing, but decent.

In terms of design, I think the bus is a home run and the station itself is OK, but not a bad place to start. It is Lego after all; I plan to customize it, like I did the train. It's always more satisfying to make it one's own.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Charming. I'll have to get it when it's released. The bus alone appeals to me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The bus is sweet~

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like it and it's a great addition to my collection. Some people say it is small but remember it's part of the WInter Village collection. Village being the clue. It shouldn't be some great central station size set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

In the pictures from LEGO.com, the one where the bus is crossing the tracks, the dark blue roof isn't even on the bus!!! What's going on LEGO? Need some help in the QA department?!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I am very excited for this set. The station looks very nice, I love the new clock faces and the cafe o sleigh menu, plus the ticket and railway crossing signs (stickers) look great.

But I LOVE the bus! I have been trying to make one of that type (1930s small bus like Bertie from the original Thomas the Tank Engine).
It looks great and I love old cars so I MUST have it! I only wish they had included it with a modular building (we need more old fashioned vehicles to go with the modular buildings). I like that it has not been made 'too Christmassy' so I can put it in my Lego City when Christmas is over. I am also relieved to know that only 3 seats is acceptable for a bus that size.

The minifigures are a let down.

I did not get last years Holiday Train and I can see why this set will not sell as well due to the train and station being separate sets. I hope they do a promotion where perhaps if you buy the station for full price, get 20% off the holiday train.

Although, holiday train from 2016 was more designed to go around the bottom of a Christmas tree rather than as a proper train serving a model village. The 2006 holiday train would have been much better with this. I had also hoped that the tiny platform part from the 2016 train might have somehow connected to the platform of this year’s station to make a longer platform but that is not the case.

I will get this set for the bus alone, people have been complaining about the small size but the detail is there and it is about the same scale as Santa's Workshop, and this lowers the price so I can afford it.

I only wish I owned Emerald Night, it is the only train that would be right for this* (except it would probably be too big)
*Due to the vehicles the train must be old fashioned so my Horizon Express/Maersk train and any current City trains are not right. I do have the Constitution from Lone Ranger (a steam train), but it is too American. 2016 Holiday train locomotive was too American as well.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The picture on the box shows the red/white back barrier flipped 180 degrees...

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Sweet set. Cool bus

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice looking set. I agree with some that its a bit reliant on last years set which seems a bit odd as no longer available. I guess its a good way to increase demand if they now re-release last years set. My winter village is getting too big for its table now!

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Am I the only one to notice this?
The red-white stripes on the pikes of the gates are facing to the (car/bus) traffic in the video (which is correct), but both face the direction of the "viewer" on the box front. Inaccurate, but definitely looks more attractive on the box. Does this count as an error, or just a cheap marketing trick?

My opinion btw is that although a nice set, I agree with those that it might be not interesting for those who don't have train sets.

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

I just love it! I finally purchased the Winter Holiday Train only last month and am now very excited that I may well have two Winter Village sets to build during my Christmas holidays!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@Boettner Builds: These pictures are the ones used on the back of the box and there, the roof is hovering above the bus to show its 'easy-to-take-off'-functionality. However, I agree that the inclusion of this picture (bus without roof) in the press release is odd.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I am intrigued by the cornersection of the station. Can't wait to see how that is done. Also the use of microphones in the fencing is inspired. One thing though. If you combine this with the holiday train you are short four pieces of straight rail to complete a loop. Smart move LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^you need four more straight pieces... The exact same number as in straight and flexible tracks, which costs £16. So it really is a smart move on lego's part.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I like it. The bus reminds me of the little bus/taxi that takes Bing Crosby etc. from the STation to the hotel in White Christmas. So perfectly winter themed ;)

The winter village set from the previous year is usually available again on Sh @p during the appropriate period, so I'm sure the train will be available again too.

I think it's cute, perfectly themed and will definitly get it, my son and husband are in love too. Like the sweeped up and dripping snow as well!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^^ & ^^^: Just a guess but I think they expect you to put the station and 2 straights on one side of the oval and the crossing and 2 straights on the other side. This is why the station is so small, so it fits on 2 straights. Otherwise they would have to put 6 or even 8 straights in and this would make the set too expensive for the WV theme.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I want this now! I love it!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Re: the comments on the supposed incongruity of the bus, it's common in various European countries to have an integrated bus/rail system. You take the bus to get to the railway station.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

900 pieces for 70€? A station to accompany my Holiday Train that went around our Christmas tree last year? And 4 straight railroad tracks to go with it? Yes please, one for me!

Gravatar
By in United States,

At least it isn't another rerelease.

Gravatar
By in United States,

FYI -- the holiday train is still available on shop.lego.com for $99. Get it while it lasts. It'll be three times as much on ebay in a couple months.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This looks fantastic, love the little details all over the place. Can't wait to add it to the village later in the year.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

If LEGO are smart they'll offer a discounted bundle of the train and the station sets.

Gravatar
By in Czech Republic,

By Graysmith :

Have they done anything like that (a combo of two standalone sets) before?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Brick Dangerous: If you look at pictures of older train stations they actually tend to be relatively small, often times featuring only a small building and a platform. Not to mention a small village would only need a small stop, not a King's Cross.

This is Winter Village, not "Modern Winter City"

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not a fan of this. I have the train, and I like the idea of the station, but it's too small. I'd have rather they left out the bus and made the station more substantial. Perhaps the ticket office separate to a hot chocolate/coffee shop?

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's a nice idea, and I actually like it. But before I saw the piece count I assumed it was a $40-50 set. Where are they hiding 900 pieces?
At half off I might consider it, but as is I can find better things to spend $80 on.

By in United Kingdom,

Just been in John Lewis in Oxford street, they had loads of the trains and said it was being reissued.

Hm, does not look like an "Expert" level set at all. I didn't much like the train from last year so didn't get it. Probably will pass on this one too, although a nice detailed winter train station would have been lovely to have.

I think this could well be the first year I don't get a WV set (other than the re-release of the post office).
I find the station quite charming, albeit sparse, but I'm running out of room and I've got far too many vehicles in my WV collection as it is.
All good things come to an end.

Yay! Train stuff! Cute bus! Bought!

I love how people are mad because there's no indoor seating. That's funny.
I'm VERY excited for this set, but then again, I do like both LEGO and Christmas.
Price seems reasonable to me. I mean, they aren't lying about the number of pieces and 4 of them are straight track.

Cool (:D) set, definitely getting it! Not as good as Santa's Workshop or the Toy Shop, but still awesome set.

Not very special.

I'm a winter village fan, a big train fan and yet I can't get excited about this at all. What an underwhelmingly crap set. Very disappointed.

By in Germany,

I am amazed to see so many negative reactions to this set. As others have said, why should it include a train? Afaik, no other Lego station set ever included a train as well. Correct me if I'm wrong. Certainly no deal-breaker to me. On the contrary, I didn't like last year's train set at all, would rather build a MOC that perfectly fits my taste by probably using parts from last year's set, but not necessarily.
The price-to-part ratio, at least here in Germany, seems very good as well, and considering we often get sets like this at a discount, it becomes even more attractive. Me likey ;-)
