Christmas Build-Up: Day 6
Posted by TheBrickPal,
Over the course of the first four days of 40253 Christmas Build-Up, we received models that all fit with the holiday season in one way or another.
However, yesterday’s windmill wasn’t very festive - despite being well-designed - and that trend continues today. Nonetheless, I feel that this model is even better... at least, for what it is.
This ladybug is quite simple, but effective. Although this type of animal is much more common in the spring or summer, rather than winter, I can’t deny its utter charm.
The lack of legs is also quite amusing, as if the wings are so big that they completely cover them! Completing the small build are a pair of 1x1 eye tiles with lashes on them, which are always useful.
Overall - 4.5 - a cute attempt, but I must deduct half a point for the lack of a jolly theme. Quite a shame; those eyes are truly begging for full marks! ;-)
We are now a quarter of the way through the calendar, and for the most part, I am quite pleased. Not every build is a winner, and some are confusing to analyze. However, the designer (Mel Caddick again, perhaps?) should be applauded for the tough job of creating so many models using the same parts.
Onward to the next eighteen days!

Looks awesome! It’s inclusion’s odd although I must say that in Aus it’s currently summer so maybe it’s to accomodate for us in the eastern hemisphere
OH! It's a ladybug! I thought it was the cutest severed head I'd ever seen.
Ladybug makes a lot more sense than a dismembered robot head...
This ladybug model grows on me the more I look at it. An interesting way to portray it. I don’t mind if the builds should have a “festive” theme, I am just happy if it is an interesting build and looks good whatever it may be.
This calendar has close to nothing in Christmas/New Year spirit. But now I'm thinking: is it a bad thing?
P.S. I ca swear the deer looks like a puppy.
