Star Wars Advent Calendar: Day 2
Posted by CapnRex101,Star Wars Rebels is now in its final season but is emerging as a trend during the first few days of the 2017 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar. Door number one opened to reveal a tiny model of the Ghost while the second contains one of the craft's most talented crew members.
This version of Sabine Wren has only previously appeared in 75150 Vader's TIE Advanced vs. A-wing Starfighter, a set that was released in 2016 and retired very quickly less than twelve months later. I am sure this figure will therefore be new to many people and it looks marvellous, featuring printed detail on almost every available surface!
Sabine's hair colour changes with each new season of Star Wars Rebels. This blue and bright green style is based on the second series, as are the designs on her torso and legs. The texture is absolutely perfect and I like this colour scheme but it would an updated white and purple component would have been even better, reflecting the character in the more recent seasons. Hopefully such a minifigure will appear in a 2018 set.
The torso and legs are highly detailed, as we have come to expect of the Star Wars range. I love the starbird symbol painted on Sabine's chest armour and the areas of worn paint look very realistic but the skin tone used on the double-sided head remains too light. A nougat element would have been more appropriate in my opinion. It would also have been nice to see a helmet and jetpack included. Nevertheless, this is a superb figure and it comes with a blaster, continuing the trend set in last year's calendar.
Overall - 4.5 - I am very pleased with today's gift. Sabine is a popular character and the rarity of this minifigure only increases its appeal. Hopefully this high standard will continue!

Love Sabine!! I needed this figure. I felt Vader's TIE Advanced vs. A-wing Starfighter set was overpriced and this was really the only thing I wanted from it.
If only it included her helmet. Oh well, I'll take it. She's a vast improvement over the earlier Sabine figure.
i actually wish this was the end one and came with a santa hat.
Great minifig. I don't have any Rebels sets so this is an excellent gift. Awesome detail. Another 5 from me.
Not so exciting for me since I have 75150 and don't care much for Rebels, but certainly not terrible. Somewhat generic fleshie heads are too rare, and female ones even more so.
Would the Brickset team be able to post all advent calendar articles for a certain day in one large article? It would certainly make the front page much cleaner to have "Advent Calendars: Day 2" rather than individual articles for city, friends, star wars, etc. Thanks!
I only had season 1 Sabine so this was welcome.
I am also hoping for a 2018 set with an updated Sabine - along with helmet
Hey, could you link to the previous day's build in each article? That way it'd be easy to check back if someone misses a day.
I don't collect Rebels sets so to get such a rare and important character is very welcome!
@jonmdudley, luckily, there's a santa hat available, so you can fit it yourself :)
Glad she comes with a gun. Before last year none if the figs had weapons included with them. They would turn up later on with a crappy weapons rack.
Hmm. Isn’t she more tanned? I can’t remember.
[Edit] oh nevermind, cap mentioned it.
I have to post this; I’ve been thinking it all day. Can’t stop thinking about it. This mini figure looks like Rosie O’Donnell. Sure, with Sabine-dyed hair, but Rosie.
Since I'm not a huge fan of Rebels, this mini-fig doesn't stand out to me. I still like yesterdays.
@ericjohn: CANNOT UNSEE! (Seriously, Lego needs to redesign her hairpiece. And use the right skintone.)
@omnium I will be doing that. my problem is that I would want the hat to have a little bit of her hair showing out since it is one of the things that make her stand out. It's not a big deal, I just think that if they are going to put named characters in these then they should be the "Santa version". That being said I am glad that I was able to pick up a version of Sabine as I do not collect Rebels sets.
I'm still baffled by how LEGO continues to ignore the fact that Sabine is *not* white. It's embarassing and not even close to what the character looks like in the show and supplemental material.
I also think that this would have been a good opportunity for them to include her helmet in a relatively cheap set. Weird how it's only been in one set so far, and a pretty expensive one at that.
Yeah it really bugs me that they made the sabine and ezra the lighter skin tone. They could have used the same color they did for kanan even and it would have been better :/
